I had not expected to receive such detailed and relevant information from Chuck and Kelly. The depth of knowledge on matters of color, creed, gender, and religion during this era are often overlooked and certainly misrepresented. I appreciate the conscious efforts to bridge the information gap in an effort to encourage appreciation, unity, and patriotism.

Seth our tour guide was great. He was animated and funny. He shared lots of tidbits that you would normally not know about the battle of Franklin and the family history of the owners of the original house. The house is operated by a 501(3c) and is non-profit. Please visit so that this piece of history stays standing!! So much of Nashville and the surrounding areas are being turn down for mega hotels or huge tourist destinations. Save the history of this amazing area!

We toured last Saturday on a very rainy day and it was a perfect day for a house tour. We had an knowledgeable re-enactor named Seth (or Robert if you dont like his tour) give us a detailed history of the Battle of Franklin and the Lotz House. The home is furnished with beautiful and unique antiques not related to the home, but as a collection of the owners. There are a few pieces related to Lotz. Lots of items from the Battle or period can be found on the walls and in display cases.

Wonderful, knowledgeable staff. The tour takes you through the whole house and they tell you the story of the Battle of Franklin and of the family that lived there (average working-class people who didnt own slaves). The entry fee is reasonable and the house has so many antiques and historical objects. The story of the family and the Battle of Franklin is fascinating. Its a privately owned museum that saved the house from being made into a taco shop!

Ive seen at least 100 historic house museums and this was one of the weirdest. While the tour and history was interesting, the state of the home was a shame. I understand that its difficult to make money on a tour home, but this place seems quite busy. To have a director sitting in a hoarded-out office and hundreds of thousands of dollars of antiques and artifacts sitting inside that bear no relation to the house or its inhabitants while the home itself has so many problems is disappointing. From ceilings with huge can lights, modern light switches, home depot bathrooms, hollow plastic doors, and beat flooring including vinyl, laminate, fake crown molding, and contemporary carpet to a packed gift shop with second-hand display cases hocking everything under the sun and family paintings hung over a tangled web of extension cords. Why not sell a few unrelated antiques and restore the house? Or even better, purchase the building behind you to create a proper check in, gift shop, and parking lot so that the Lotz house can have all of its modernity pulled out and become a proper tour home? Best wishes on your journey to improve this site!

Great historical site! Preserved by the historical society. Has actually scars from the Civil War battle! Great tour guide and he was VERY knowledgeable on the history of the museum and the house. Gift shop items was overpriced because it is a tourist attraction. Great thing to see with kids who are into history. Gift shop and ticket sales go directly to the house preservation fund so basically your admission fee is a donation to the house. The only bad thing was we couldnt take photos or videos inside the building (they had cameras inside the building for monitoring).
