Even during COVID-19 the team at Buffalo Trace conducts excellent tours. They offer a variety and we chose the Bourbon Barrel Tour and were not disappointed. The tour takes you through the life of a barrel as well as into rick houses with conversation on how the rick house structure and placement in the rick house can make substantial differences in the bourbon they produce. The tour concluded in rick house BLDG C which has never been empty since they built it. An amazing place.

Well where to begin? This was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. I toured during COVID so I have to wear a mask however the experience was like Disneyland for me. I learned more in a couple of hours than I had in years of sipping. The best surprise was the gift shop that allowed us to buy products and we just happened to get the Col. Taylor that day. I would go every year if I could.A must for any bourbon enthusiast.

It has been a couple of years since I have had a chance to visit. In that time there have been many awesome improvements to their campus. The layout and look of the gift shop really jumps out. Be sure to take a stroll thru their gardens. It was not obvious to me that it was there but was pointed in that direction for some nice pictures. Highly recommend this FREE tour.

The holy mecca of american whiskey. A must see on the bourbon trail. Tours are free (paid tours are available), and are very informative. Free tours also include a tasting. Huge gift shop (prices are a little high, but what did you expect?). A vault upstairs houses every buffalo trace product ever created, and is a sight to see. Free parking. Hours are pretty short. Even if youre not a bourbon whiskey fan, the history alone is worth the trip!!!

Fantastic trace tour with Rae! You learn a little about the history, architecture, and the bourbon (vs. Whiskey) and then have a tasting at the end. They are taking extra precautions with covid (temperature checks on the way in, tour limited to 8 people, gift shop limited to a small amount of people). Reserve your tour online so you can be sure to get in! Gift shop open without reservation

What a fun place to visit. Book ahead of time for a tour (or get lucky like me). The EH Taylor tour is an excellent slice of distillery history, Im sure the other tours are excellent as well. The only thing that would have made the day better, is if the gift shop had a wider range of their products. I did score a Blantons though. Highly recommended!

Wonderful place that has unfortunately become too commercial in response to demand. It’s not their fault but don’t get your hopes up. Availability of Blantons or EH Taylor at the gift shop is not guaranteed. Book your tour months advance. And be prepared to wait any day of the week. We waited in line for an hour to get a chance for one bottle of Blantons, which the fortunately had early in the morning. It was likely gone by noon.

We did a short free tasting experience on 11/22 and it was awesome! We were escorted upstairs to a nice pre-arranged area with 5 tasting samples and listened to our tasting guide give us the quick overview of each item. After the tasting, we were able to enter the gift shop which had a great assortment of gifts and even some Blantons which they let 1 person buy a bottle every 3 months while supplies are limited. Super good experience!

I would really like to give a higher score, but I’m just so fed up with all the COVID-19 responses everywhere, including at Buffalo Trace. My wife and I went out of our way to visit while driving to Nashville from Ohio, & of course couldn’t get on a tour (even though I tried to schedule one a couple of days in advance), so decided to go to the gift store, but had to stand in line for over an hour for the privilege. I went looking for the rest room & was accosted by a staff member who must’ve thought that I was trying to circumvent the gift store line, & then by another because I had the audacity to not have a face mask on in the great wide open with no one around! Seriously, get a grip! Also, why is the distillery the only place where I can find their bourbon? I’ve searched for it in Virginia, Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, & Florida, but it’s nowhere to be found. I love Buffalo Trace & would like to be able to walk into my local liquor store & grab a bottle from time to time. Eh, whatever.

Buffalo Trace Distillery was by far my favorite place to visit of the three I got a tour of this weekend. The place was amazing and full of sight, what made it more amazing was my tour guide David. He knew American Sign Language and signed the whole time. I understood more about the process from David than from the other places without the accessibility provided. The facts about how large this place is, how big the still and processing tanks are just blows my mind. The other distilleries I visit had tanks in the 7000-7,500ish gal tank, these had up to 9,400 or in that range. I like the fact that they recycled their leftovers and used the “tar” to produce energy for the whole system. **I highly recommend that if you are Deaf, or knows someone that wants to visit Buffalo Trace, to call or email them and request David. He is not an interpreter but does an really good job making sure you understood the history and science of making Bourbon. **

We arrived late for the gift shop but a VERY NICE Terry came out to talk to us. She was very informative and, although she was not able to tell us if Blantons would be available, she was able to explain the reason why. We saw her the next morning and she went out of her way to welcome us again. She caught us as we were leaving, successfully having purchased our Blantons, and spent another few minutes telling us more about the history of the distillery. We hope to see Terry on our next trip to Buffalo Trace!

Buffalo Trace Distillery is a great place to kick off a tour of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Steeped in history and tradition, it’s staffed by people who clearly take great pride and pleasure in what they do. 5 star place. Allow me to explain. The only reason I leave a two star review is that I see this place has nearly 1,000 reviews but the owner of this account only replies to negative reviews. I know I know I am not the police monitoring how they run their google my biz page but as someone going through the trouble of leaving a review to help your viewership I would like a thank you or at least half the engagement you give the nay sayers, so would everyone else that take the time out of their day to leave you a positive review. So let me say the tour was amazing, and I am a huge fan of everything that comes out of this place. Our tour and tasting was FREE! And they allowed us to bring our two year old son (yeah yeah) our tour guide was Freddy apparently this guy grew up on these grounds and his father and grandfather worked here. Freddy was so sold on the culture of working here it brought him to tears, I almost applied for a job here just because of how happy he was with the culture. He was a frat tour guide and even thanked and appreciated and helped out little fussy child because he grew up there! The only thing that would have made our experience better is if we could have had the opportunity to maybe buy some Blantons or Stagg or anything rare while we there.I may change my two star review if the owner of this account could start at least saying thank you to some of their customers who leave reviews.Edit- fine I’ll change it to a five star review even though I didn’t get a response, just keep making your bourbon. I was really hoping some engagement but I guess not.

Neat place to visit, especially if you’re a fan of Blanton’s! I wasn’t very pleased with the way the staff were acting in regards to covid.... yes, they had everything in place for the safety of everyone, however, they were too much down your throat with everything. They yelled across the outdoor area bc we did not have our masks on outside. It was 90 degrees and VERY humid. Made it so hard to breathe! I get requiring masks, but they need to back off a little. Yes, I’m glad they can be open and they’re just doing their job. I still gave 5 starts bc I’m not going to let that tiny situation ruin a review. I hope they can reevaluate and be a little more lenient during these crazy, rough times...

Kind people. Great gift shop that will occasionally stock some more hard to find stuff. Blantons. EHT. Etc. There is always going to be Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Bourbon Cream.
