Very nice well maintained cemetery. My 2nd favorite cemetery in or around Dallas Texas. Favorite meaning nice clean welk kept memorials and some beautiful headstones.

Its kinda strange and cool to stand over the grave of one of the most notorious villains in U.S. history.I found out about this curiosity on Atlas Obscura, and I highly recommend that site for travelers who are looking for odd things to do. You gotta check out that site for this place in particular because it has a bit of the history surrounding this grave, and also tells you the humorous story of who Nick Beef is and how his grave marker came to be next to Oswald. To summarize, Oswald was so hated, Rose Hills was the only place in the Dallas area that would agree to having Oswald buried there. Nobody came to the funeral except the press, so they were enlisted as pallbearers. The original grave marker Oswalds mom bought for him was stolen so she replaced it with something less conspicuous. It simply says Oswald. Years later a performance artist visits the grave and sees that the plots next to Oswald are available, so he buys one and places a grave marker over the empty grave that has his stage name, Nick Beef, which subsequently triggers new and unfounded conspiracy theories surrounding the Kennedy assassination. Apparently the staff is not allowed to direct visitors to Oswalds grave, but if you ask them Wheres the Beef they will point you in the right direction.Google maps will get you pretty close to the spot, but youll still have to look around a bit. Its pretty close to the entrance, straight back, along Rose Hills Drive.

Cemetery is average at best. Grave itself is a ittle tough to find - much closer to cemetery road than websites made it seem. Guy across the street was just pulling in on his motorcycle and knew what I was looking for and was nice enough to yell over and guide me. Looking for Nick Beef grave right next to Oswalds is helpful. Not many people more infamous and now I have JFK, Jack Ruby and Oswald. Dont miss Bonnie and Clyde - in separate cemeteries - not too far away.

Fascinating piece of history. The employees of the cemetery are not allowed to tell you where it is. It is a small marble stone, not 12 inches long, and it only says Oswald. No first name, no dates. Standing there I was overwhelmed by the memories of JFK’s assassination. I believe Oswald did not act alone. There are so many layers of cover-up, we will never know the whole truth. Ever. He was right. He was a patsy.

Beautiful cemetery, but the Lee Harvey Oswald gravesite is nothing special. I come here because it is a portal in the location-based game Ingress.
