Our trip to Key West was canceled due to weather. But let me tell you why I’m giving Key West Express five stars. (1) they answered the phone on a Sunday morning at 9 AM when I checked to see if we were on schedule for the next day, (2) we left a message late Sunday night to cancel due to the inclement weather. They responded the next day with a refund. (3) they called early Monday morning to let us know the trip was canceled—an extra step provided as a courtesy so that we didn’t show up at the dock. All communications by phone, and email where professional, prompt, and helpful.

The boat was clean and everyone was wearing a mask. The trip was very smooth sailing and the crew were helpful and eager to please. A great stress free way to get to Key West.

I give this a 5 star all the way. They make you feel safe and comfortable. The round trip was great. The staff was friendly and helpful one in particular was Sean he told us about the train and a great place for lunch. We will go back for a few days next time. The ship was clean, well staffed and comfortable. Every staff member we came into contact with were very pleasant. The day we went, the crew even found my doppelganger, on board at the same time. Much nicer than driving! Beautiful sunset views.

Get the $99 specials. One day is not enough 3 day 2 night is perfect. Electric car a must. There are good deals out there for $250-300 for 48 hrs. Weather can get rough. Need to stay in the center or back on the first deck. Make sure you sit facing fwd. We thought it was fine at 4-6 seas but not all are and we would want to go over that. They sell dramamine but recommend you get your own and be prepared to stay over another night if it is too bad. Flight are like triple, so that is the risk. Have to show up at 1545 to 1600 for a 1650 load if you want a table or booth. They do take card but has to be over $10 at the snack bar. The food is marginal at best but hey what do you expect. Might not want to eat anyway based on the above.

Good alternative to driving. The boat ride generally takes about 4 hours versus a 6 hour car drive without traffic. They offer some food and drinks, although I would avoid their coffee. I recommend going in a group and bringing cards or other games to pass the time. It can be overcrowded and hard to find a seat, so be sure to get there early. The ride back is at night so naturally the waves are larger causing a rougher trek back. All in all I enjoy it and use it as my typical means of transportation from Key West to Fort Myers.

Its a nice easy ride, just bring some cards or something to keep you entertained. Youll be there before you know it. Super nice staff and decent snacks and drinks.

Fantastic way to get to Key West for a very reasonable cost. Comfortable seats, friendly staff, good food and drink selection...and even great movies! Longtime resident of Naples will definitely take it again

I ride this boat every month and it is absolutely amazing. The crew is extremely friendly and very helpful. You can get mixed drinks, beer or even wine on the boat. They also serve food and pretty good choices at that. The trip takes approximately 4 hours or a little bit less. The only thing I miss is they used to serve Kahlua and they no longer serve that. Even an occasional Sunset can spark up your interest on this boat. There are three levels on the boat and if you want to get a suntan on the way to Key West stay on the third floor. Just to let you know though they do not usually have service for credit cards all the way out there so its wise to bring cash with you if you want to buy anything on the boat.

The reviews scared the heck out of me, as my husband gets seasick. Its a long ride to be ralphing. But the weather was calm, we had a good experience. Get there early if you want a seat. I think that was the worst part, seeing people walking around looking for a seat, some of them older people, while people sat with their bag in the booth chairs. They make announcements regarding seating, but I never really saw it enforced.We sat in the main aisle seating, they were comfortable, reclined slightly. They have some food and drinks and are extremely reasonable with their pricing. If you drove, you probably would have stopped off for a pop and snacks and paid more than what we did here, so I dont understand why some people complained about that.Im sure if our weather was bad, it would have been a different experience, but its nothing the crew could do differently, as weather is out of their control. We would do it again and recommend it every time!

Great boat ride. The staff were all awesome. Easier than driving to Key West. Theres a food and drink area plus a bar. Easy to get up and walk around. I go a couple of times a year and take our house guests.

Overall experience on the boat was fine. Staff is nice and courteous. Be cautious of their policies in regards to refunds and additional charges. They are not consumer-friendly in this regard as all of their policies are better suited for the company rather than the consumer. Beware of things such as no refunds, additional charges for lost boarding passes (yes, they still don’t have an electronic option for certain tickets), and trip cancellations without reimbursement (they will give you a 2-year voucher instead). All additional charges and cancellation policies are well noted in their documentation, but no legitimate company in this day and age should have such outdated policies.

Nice boat ride, got to see an awesome sunset from the Keys to Fort Myers. Would have better if they had music playing outside and since they show a movie inside if they would make it so you can actually hear it.

This is an interesting business largely staffed by ex-New Yorkers. So there will be some of that lovely Yankee attitude, but it aint terrible. Theyll call you a day or two in advance to go over your reservation, and thats nice.There was no security sweep at either end. No metal detectors, no bag checks, no pat downs, and no luggage tags. This kind of bothered me in this crazy day and age, considering this is a means of transportation with supposedly secured docks. Theoretically, you could carry a rocket launcher, a couple pounds of uranium, and a few gallons of moonshine with you and no one would ever know. Conversely, you could bring a bunch of subs and a few gallons of moonshine and avoid the pricey bar drinks. I had read no outside food or drinks - so I was kinda miffed when I saw some bro with a Big Gulp and a sandwich walking around happily. Now you know.Be prepared to pay $52 to leave your car there (unwatched), and get on early before all the anxious retirees who have been waiting in line for six hours steal the best inside seats with tables. Its windy AF with zero shade up top.Pros:- enjoy a beverage and let someone else do the driving for 3.5 hours- clean well-kept boat- comfortable seats- theyll hold your bags (but not check them)- good hot pretzels with some sort of cheese dipping substance- some hotel discounts available- there was a movie playing on several screens for about half the trip, but we couldnt hear it. CC is awkward.Cons:- it aint cheap. With a $52 parking permit, our group of 4 shelled out $675.00 for our trip. We could have flown for that.- no complimentary bag check for your return trip. We paid some bro at the port $12 PER BAG to hold them.- if youre not from around Ft. Myers, its a terrible cross-state ride if youre heading north. Two lane highways at night are a little spooky.- the ferry leaves Key West at 6-ish, so youll get into the Ft Myers area pretty late. If youre in a hotel, an 11 AM checkout leaves you with about 7 hours of wasted time with your bags. Wish there was an earlier trip.- pricey drinks and snacks, but the convenience is nice.- only two bathrooms for decks 2 and 3. One ran out of toilet paper.- lack of passenger organization when disembarking. No baggage tags. Its basically a free-for-all.

Crew very attentive and professional. Prices of actual trip varies widely depending on where you book it, so shop around because it can be really pricey. Concessions on board including beverages very affordable! Several things to do on board if you arent lucky enough to see dolphins or a beautiful sunset. Great job guys!

I have taken the Key West Express from Fort Myers Beach to Key West 7 times. The staff is always courteous and helpful and it takes less time than driving

The best way to get to Key West from Fort Myers! The ferry is so fast and smooth. Plenty of comfy seating. Get there as early as you can if you want the best seats. It’s nice being able to take a nap instead of having to drive. The arrival and departure times are well planned out I will definitely be taking the Key West express again.

Very reliable and always a nice trip. If you are concerned about motion sickness, pick a day with winds less than 15 and you will probably be fine. UPDATE: When we came back from Key West, there was a Cold Front coming through which OF COURSE the Key West Express cant control (If they could they would be rich). They moved up the departure time and changed the route which was done for the best ride they could manage. Im not saying it was great, however, the effort was great. I am an approved instructor by the Coast Guard to teach Captain Classes for up to 100 GRT, which means the size of the Key West Express. I can tell you their operation did what was necessary to deal with the weather. Im not saying the ride back was comfortable for everyone but I am saying the company and crew did what they were supposed to do by protecting the passengers, the crew, and the vessel which are the three most important things a Captain is responsible for. The crew did an excellent job in not so perfect conditions.

Worth every penny! Get there early to board, (if you want to sit inside with a/c), bring cash if you like drinks from the bar because they lose service after they get out in the gulf. Any negative review that you read is obviously a very picky person. The crew was informative, the boat itself was in good shape. The bathrooms were in good working condition. You can smoke on the lower rear deck. If you are a boater at home, I strongly recommend standing outside while they take off. What a thrill that was in itself. For 75.00 one way, you cant beat it. The trip from ft Myers to key West was super smooth. The ride back from the keys was a little rough, the captain did a great job navigating through a few storms. Some people did get sick, but thats to be expected in rough waters. Bring sea bands if your prone to sea sickness. They do sell pills onboard as well. Highly recommend the key west express!!! Traveled 9/12 to KW, traveled back to ft Myers 9/13.

What a great experience! We love Key West & while the drive can be beautiful, more often than not its exhausting & 6hrs+ of being stuck in traffic. Ive always wanted to try this ferry service & Im so glad we did! Boarding was quick & easy. The boat is extremely nice. The crew just could not have been any more helpful & friendly. With the drinks flowing & a nice snack bar, we arrived rested & already with the party started. I highly recommend this service & I will be using it again, soon!

Trip was really good . I was a tad skeptical about going in the morning and coming back the same day however I was pleased to see that the journey is 4 hours long that the crew keep everyone updated and if there were any delays. Get to Port early bring a good game . The snacks are limited in choice but good.

What an awesome trip! Sit and relax while you go back and forth to Key West. Zack the bartender was cool and kept good conversation the entire time. Steve helped us get a golf cart rental and was very knowledgeable. Walter was funny and great to talk to. Would recommend to anyone who was interested.

Boarding and luggage check in was fast and easy. Good food for the trip and lots of fresh air and no traffic all the way to Key West.

It was definitely a different experience, voyage took longer than they tell you online. Sitting outside is nice but gets old after about the third hour. I highly recommend you get there early to get a seat inside so you can sit with your friend and family.

The only way to go to Key West! Very windy both ways, like 25 to 30 mph. The ride was very smooth, I would recommend this trip to anyone even if you get sea sick. Fast, comfortable and convenient, the staff was absolutely great they were courteous helpful and knowledgeable. This was our second trip and it seems to just keep getting better.

We love Key West Express! At least once a year we take it from Marco Island. It seems the bartender is always grumpy, but its a great way to get from one paradise to another. in December you can get a great deal. A round trip ticket for $99 valid for one year! That is a great deal! This past January we went for my birthday from Marco Island. I was a little nervous to go that day because the weather was terrible and the swells were massive. the Key West Express cut right through all of mother natures chaos and it was an excellent ride! I would take the Key West Express in any weather!

Not only is it convenient but its an experience that shouldnt be missed.We took a flight back to Fort Myers from Key West but Im so glad we experienced Key West Express going there.Be careful if you get motion sick if there is weather in the area because it could be a tough ride.

Great time on the Ferry! Crew was friendly and the seating is comfortable. Get here when they start boarding (7am in Ft. Myers) if you want to guarantee yourself a comfortable seat because they do fill up. Some were stuck with standing room only.

Had good drinks and you could move about the boat as you wished. The downside was they try to pack it pretty tight and you are very restricted as to what you can bri.g aboard such as no coolers and no fishing pools. In the keys! This leads to lots of wasted foam coolers. Just keep them stowed away if you want to sell your drinks.

DEFINITELY NOT FASTER THAN DRIVING!Overcrowded. I asked a crew-member for help finding a seat and he said “good luck”.You have to arrive two hours early if you want to get a seat indoors. Add that to the four hours on the sea and the thirty minutes to get off the boat, and you may as well drive - you get there an hour sooner.My seat was soaking wet when I found it. I pray to God that it was only because someone spilled their drink... Does the crew even bother cleaning up after the previous trip???

Best way to travel to Key West from Southwest Florida in my opinion. The tickets are very reasonable. For a $25 fee to our can change your return date if you decide to stay extra days. Very smooth ride there. The ride back was a bit choppy but not their fault. A three and a half hour ride each way with food and a full bar available for purchase. Certainly beats a 6+ hour drive depending on traffic. Totally recommend it!

Staff was rude and made it clear they needed and wanted gratuity...i was ready to tip until they said my wife was a mess because the wheel on her suitcase broke. When you work with public be prepared to make them feel welcome. Will look for another form of transportation to Key West next time

Not real impressed with Key West. To commercial. The beaches stunk, due to seaweed piled upon the shore. I did enjoy the art galleries & antique stores. But very pricey.

This is by far the easiest and best way tk get to the keys with no hassle! Lots of seating and drinks/snacks are always a plus! Leaving the keys back home make sure you arrive at the pickup location early if youd like to select your seat. The line fills ip VERY quickly!

Great trip at a reasonable price. Ccomfortable and the best way to travel to Key West. We experienced rough water on the return trip to Ft Meyers, causing numerous guests to become seasick. Staff was incredibly patient in assisting those in need. Top notch service and staff!

Interesting way to travel from Fort Myers Beach area to Key West. Passenger ferry only. Has a bar and promotes commercial local Key West tourist activities. The interior of the ferry can be crowded with only windy outside seating available (Wind from the speed of the ferry). Duration of the ride is a little over 3 hours.

This was awesome. Better than driving for sure. Grab a table inside and grab a drink. Once up to speed go up to the top deck for a few minutes to feel the wind and get a sight of the surf. If you get seasick make sure you take some medicine as a few people didnt have a good day.
