Out of the woods - fun in the first half, emotional in the second half. Cinderellas voice was tremendous, as were the bakers and jacks.Entire cast was energetic and talented. Most fun Ive had at the theater in quite a while. Thank you!!

While a good facility, if your children are serious about acting, this is not the place for them. Yes, it is nice for a class here and there, but the facilities are catering for local adult actors.Your children could be in the plays, but their roles are not the main characters, and your children and you will be in long rehearsals taking all your time for not much really. As a mom of a girl that wants to be in Broadway when she is in college, that is not the place I will invest her time. Look for places that the world youth theater means youth. Yes, you will have to drive but there are other places where the children do all the acting and work in all the productions, so they learn a ton. Look for youth theaters where they have a good track of producing real children actors that go to college to study acting or have acting careers.Remember moms and dads, your time and money is valuable. Kids grow too fast and the most important thing is that they have the mentor teacher that is dedicated to their future career.I have seen the difference between a good mentor and a not so good mentor, and I also seen the results which in this case are not very promising.Yes, this advice is not for all children, but if your child wants to do this more than anything in life, take it seriously, and you will be pleased. Now, that she has been accepted at Interlochen for Musical theater this summer, the audition was a minute or two of voice, two of dance and two of a monologue. I think working with a dedicated actor will be more productive than putting her thru the Flint Youth Theater children and adolescent program....And now, instead of addressing the issues that the Flint Youth Theater (it used to be called Flint Youth Theater) was not really making children their priority despite that they have received great amounts of money thru donations from the big foundations in town, they decided to change the name....A technique that is very comonly used in town. The leaders change names of places, create new buildings, hide issues, but the profound changes that are necessary to attract families from the suburbs requires a type of leadership with courage and strength that we do not have in town. That is why head of museums, non profit organizations, presidents of Universities pass thru Flint like a revolving door to big and better cities ..and that is why I drive my daughter to places out of Flint where her time, and her potential is taken seriously.Flint Youth Theater is now Flint Repertory Theater. For whom? For the University of Michigan - Flint theater graduates that did not make it in New York? That sounds like a bad consolation price to a very expensive investment. The Flint Youth Theater was created for the youth in Flint, and now, it is not.The only way this city will come back is when is attractive to families with children, and when children an adolescents are valued and taken into consideration. Until then, all our talented kids are moving out of Flint (my children are going in that direction too). The sad truth is that all the sons and daughters of our leaders in Flint that are in college have moved to cities like Ann Arbor, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and are not coming back.Their parents leadership has resulted in a city where their own children do not want to live in this town.Does it sound harsh this review? Well, I think the truth is the best tool for change and improvement, but Flint, nor the Flint Youth Theater is ready to change..Change requires to leave structures that were useful in the past, but do not work in this present time. The system that a small group of people/ donors can make all the decisions and not take into account what parents want is arrogant. Luckily, these group of donors is getting old, their children are not coming to replace them, so maybe something could happen there...and that could be nice fir children in Flint.

Very nice place we entered here to go to the flint longway planetarium and the staff were very helpful to guide us to the walkway for the planetarium entrance which is in the lobby of the youth theater because they connected. When leaving the planetarium we passed through the lobby again and we were greated by another staff member and she was very nice giving us info and flyers for upcoming events and shows at the youth theater.
