I love, love, love this place so much. It’s a slice of nature right outside of the city, and it’s full of wildlife. I’ve seen everything from bees in their hives to chipmunks and snakes to wild turkeys and hawks. It’s beautiful out there, and well taken care of. The gift shop is also a wonderful place to stop and buy things to support the Audubon.Accessibility notes: Bathrooms are only available while the building is open. Not all pathways are easy to access, but there are a lot that are easy to walk on without any obstruction. (roots, rocks)
Lots of benches! Could of used another one over looking the basin near parking lot?beautiful view.
Such a great spot, free & open to the public to walk around. Ive had my engagement pictures and maternity pictures done here as well ️
A breath of fresh air. Beautiful trails, very well maintained!
Such a sweet, quiet, walkable retreat. Educational too and you cant beat free!

Beautiful oasis in Portland. Quiet. Nice trails.
A lot of trails, nice view and the water feels great in summer!
Amazing visitor center, tons of vibrant wildlife, and the peonies are in full bloom!
This former farm is a natural wonder in our greater Portland backyard! Awe-inspiring ecosystem setting!
Amazingly beautiful place
I love this place! Its great for walking and viewing nature. You might see wild turkeys or kingfishers. Youll always see beautiful fields, woods and tidal waters. The community garden area is a treat, as is the frog pond. The solar arrays are quite impressive; the gift shop has a wide variety. Come!!
I love this place..the hikes easy and scenic.. Its beautiful during the summer just watch out for the bees with all the gorgeous flowers around.. Also can stop in there shop when open.
Understated beauty!
Such a lovely spot to explore nature, wildlife and educational center.
Our trip started at the learning center. We found a very well organized gift shop and interactive class rooms with viewing areas of bird feeders. Lots to see on our hike as well. The trails were well maintained and very comfortable for an outing with young able bodied children. Bird blinds, benches, mowed paths overlooks and a complimentary map to take with us. The turkeys spooked me a bit and we got bit by a fire ant, but other than those non issues, What a great visit! Did I mention the gardens and butterfly story walk, check those out too.
Tic breeding ground. Soaked my clothes in Deet before heading out and just pulled eight tics off me after a walk through the paths. Unbelievable.Poison ivy every 20 feet and some patches even have flags. Might have been a mistake taking a class there. Was just at the one in Bangor with no problems. Saw maybe two patches of poison ivy. You can tell they keep on top of killing it. No tics. I saw them spraying.
My Fiance and I just had our engagement pictures taken here. Very beautiful and relaxing. Just bring bug spray with you. But that is what you get with New England summers.
My first time visiting since elementary school was this fall, and I was delighted. Even if youre not into birdwatching, the trails are so pleasant and peaceful to walk. The view on the water is gorgeous. Bathrooms are available and on the ground floor at the main building song with a gift shop and some educational exhibits. Parking is easy.
Beautiful conserved land with some of the best birding in the area.
Beautiful place to enjoy the nature, and they have a exbit center as well.Great place for children to run around and let off some energy. Next time I will enjoy a picnic there.
Wonderful. Great trails and information. Visit this beautiful sanctuary. You wont be disappointed.
Wonderful place for all to learn about the animals and smaller species that can be found here in Maine. The employees are welcoming, very informative, and great with kids. The guide we had today set up experiments, and gave amazing knowledge to the kiddos on my sons school trip.
Took a chilly walk around the loop for my ladys outdoor exercise requirement. Grabbed some info from the visitors center right before closing. And got to see wild turkeys near the center. After our walk, leaving the parking lot, we witnessed the large birds flight into the trees to roost. It was Alicias first time seeing turkeys up close.
Very zenlike place to visit. Walk the paths, notice the little wild flowers, listen to the birds singing, give way to a juvenile racoon crossing the path....all very peaceful. Nice visitor center also with some small displays and a nice gift shop with proceeds going to Audubon.
The Maine Audubon Society at Gilsland Farm is a magical place. Inside is a gift shop with wonderful products for yourself or as gifts. There are several trails to walk that lead from the farm fields to salt water marshes. The birdwatching is superb and there are many other critters to surprise and delight visitors. I highly recommend this property for a family fun day, a place to enjoy the outdoors, or a quiet place to paint or sketch.
I can only give this 4 stars based on the outdoor experience as the visitor center was closed. We walked some of the trails and enjoyed the ones we traversed. For a site this close to downtown it was very good.
Amazing place. Great place to visit for kids and adults. It has great tours went with my child school and the kids learned a lot about the animals and nature. We had fun trying to catch frogs. The birds love it there. Great place for a picnic.
One of the most priceless natural and cultural resources in Maine.

Great campus and a wonderful team of employees and volunteers.
Peaceful place in the middle of the city, easily accessible through the metro bus system. Go in the morning for get best pictures :)
I went to the plant sale today. It was very well run in the people who were working at it were very helpful and kind.
Today was our first experience. Just beautiful!
Nice walking trails and good quick stop for birding. Good for old and young alike. Not a lot of trail to cover so its overall a short visit type of place as far as the trails are concerned.
What an incredible place with gorgeous scenery and great trails.
Beautiful place to spend a few hours just enjoying the nature around you. No dogs allowed here to preserve the area. (If you want to bring your dog somewhere that close to here, check out Mackworth Island just up the road.)
Easy walking trails and great water views
I was there for a memorial service so I didnt exactly look around, but I remember from before years ago that is was great and I should go back again
I am so glad a place like this exists in the area of Portland. Its a nice escape from chaotic life. A place to go to watch the birds, listen to the frogs in the pond and to walk.
Haven’t been there in the summer yet, but winter is quiet and serene. It’s a bit chilly being close to the water. Dress warmly. Nice bird-centric bookstore. Friendly staff.
Beautiful place, a little bit of Heaven here on earth.
Peonies, honey bees you can watch work, marshy views and fresh air (if you dont go at low tide ;) )
Absolutely beautiful place. Friendly staff.
Went sledding with small children. Fun and good sized hill for under 6 set.
Great owl show for all ages. Wondeful programs
Beautiful location to walk or enjoy lunch/picnic at. Trails are easy to walk and local events are always fun here.

Great place, little over crowded but as expected with a plant sale on a hot day. Very knowledgeable staff and terrific trails.

Awesome place for bird lovers near Portland. Good place to see wild turkeys up close.
What an amazing venue to host a variety of events. Truly a hidden gem in Falmouth
This is one of my favorite places to go with others or alone. Its very peaceful and scenic, yet surprisingly close to town and mackworth island.
Its probably a nice place to visit during the summer or fall but the trails where very icy in March. We did not see any birds while visiting. The information centre is good and the staff is very knowledgable. Trail markers could be improved.
Amazing watercolor demonstration and art show. The space where this took place is a great space for enjoying the outdoors from a warm spot, loved the wall of windows.
Pleasant.Trails not marked.
Craft Show was amazing!
I loved the weeping willow. Its a very amazing place to take pictures or to propose. I highly suggest because me and my fiance stumbled upon it by accident.

Beautiful area, well maintained, wonderful kids/indoor area, friendly staff. A true gem.
Great place for a walk. Also has a storybook walk for young children.
Gilsland Farm is a wonderful quiet place for a walk with your family or alone. Varied topography and habitats that change character with the seasons make a beautiful asset for southern Maine.
Very nice place to walk. Beautiful trees and over looks the ocean in some spots
Extensive trail system for an urban park, great bird viewing, the nature center is educational and fun for kids, views of Casco Bay are outstanding. Look for the woodchucks! Fat little fellows. FYI, no dogs allowed.
Beautiful this time of year. Flowers of all kinds are blooming.
Pretty and quiet. People were nice and I like the public garden at the entrance.

I had a northern shrike at my house today and wanted to share with somebody but all I got was opportunities to donate or join. Duh. So who cares.
Fun spending time with the grandkids here. Lots to see and learn!
Very nice walking trails. Variety of scenery from fields, woods, and a pond. Lots of different wildlife around.
