Its a great easy walk for the kids and the scenery cant be beat

Very fun and imaginative place. Great hiking and exploring. View others creations or build your own fairy castle with found forest materials. Or, just watch to kids as their imaginations run wild.

Nice little hike to start the morning. Fairy houses are so cute. Walked on beach at low tide to half way round the island then climbed stairs up to trail.

Awesome place to stop between bar harbor and Salem. Parking is a pain, And only one toilet which is essentially a hole in the ground with a lid over it.

Mackworth Island is worth a visit for a leisurely 1 hour stroll round the 1.25 mile perimeter. Parking can be iffy, so just wait for a space, or come back later.

This is kind of a silly destination as part of a larger hike around a local island. You apparently cant visit the interior of the island, where a school for the deaf is locationed? However, there is a small parking lot with a trail that leads to the Fairy Houses.

Why not build a Fairy house? The little flying people need homes as well. Get out of yourself and explore your inner child and add to the mystique of the forrest. Fun for an adult and child. Also a great break from the crunched Portland streets... 3 bucks a person for the park... Hence the 4 stars... Should be 3 bucks a car.

Its beautiful and peaceful, and its litter-free! The trail is not difficult, just some uphill & downhill--great for running! There are plenty of spots to climb around if you like, some beaches, and some fishing spots. The parking lot is small and fills up quickly. If the lot is full. There isnt snywhere

What a magical place! I have fond memories making fairy houses with my nephews each summer theyd come up to Maine.
