I work at Weeks Bay National Estaurine Reserve as a volunteer. It is one of the most rewarding opportunities I have. Meeting and greeting visitors, answering the phone, working the office, and anyway I can help are all ways I can serve the Reserve. The staff is wonderful to work with, the best volunteers and the pleasure of being in this beautiful environment.Don’t miss out on the experiences waiting on you at Weeks Bay. You’ll want to come back time and again!

Brian greeted us with a smile at the visitor office. He gave us a bunch of information we didnt even know about in our state. He was very informative and really nice! If you had questions, he would sure answer them. We were not able to take the nature trails due to being flooded out, but we did walk the boardwalk which was really nice in itself. Its not a long boardwalk trail, but you can take your time while sitting on some of the benches they provide. We will definitely be back!!

A wonderful place to have a few moments of quiet time and get to watch some American Bald Eagles flying by, roosting or best yet -- shopping for a meal along the rivers mouth or in the bay. Bring a camera, especially if you have one with a telephoto lens.

Great place to enjoy nature. Its education if you want it to be. As you walk along the boardwalks things are labeled such as trees and plants by common and scientific name. Wife was excited because she got to see her first ribbonsnake in the wild. Great place to bring the family

Gate was open past 5pm. Didnt see the sign (facing the trees), went down the board walk came back within 10 min and was locked in behind metal gates. Walked down park looking for an office or grounds person & yelling for anyone, no answer. Im not local, have small kids with me and dogs at home 45 min away. Not happy that I got stuck. Popped tire offroading out (tire is not fixable). Got stuck changing a tire. Please make an attempt to move signs where people can see them and since the parking lot is small, the ranger that locked the gates should take 5 min of his/her time to walk down the board walk to warn people who will potentially be stuck overnight. If thats too much to ask then at least leave an after hours number visible on the lovely gate so we have someone to call.

Our first visit to WBR was with granddaughter visiting from NJ; live snakes, drawers of native flora & fauna captivated her inquisitive mind-ours too! History of the area, elevated maps for flooding, a nature trail where red headed woodpeckers were seen; all manner of native flowers blooming! Aside from great photos of our grand, she had memories to share during Show & Tell back in Jersey. The end of the boardwalk opening onto Weeks Bay is a fitting end to the walk; picnic lunch [take your trash back with you!] while talking about our adventure was a grand afternoon. Next visit we booked a bird watching tour via the WBR pontoon boat; met interesting people, saw a Bald Eagle, Pelicans, porpoises, turtles; a magical adventure both times. Now we visit monthly. AND the Pitcher Plant Bob is right around the corner! Bring bugspray!
