We recently drove between Death Valley and Sequoia National Parks, making a stop in the small town of Exeter between Bakersfield and Lemon Cove to see the Exeter Murals. The murals are mostly along Pine Street. Just find a place to park in the area and youll start to see murals in the area. There is a mural gallery that was closed when we passed by. I believe you can pick up a mural map there when open. On the side of the building is a large scale map of the downtown area with marked locations of the murals. This mural includes a key with mural names as well.Note - You can also download a mural map from the Exeter Camber of Commerce website if you want to print something out prior to your travels through this small California community. In short, you walk along Pine and several other streets viewing and taking pictures of quite a few of the Exeter Murals, which depict the history of Exeter. Many of the murals relate to the history of agriculture and some of which are really good public works of art.In the end, we found this to be a good opportunity for a 30 minute break to stretch your legs and see interesting murals in the downtown area. Wed stop again for another look around if making this long drive between Death Valley and Sequoia National Parks again in the future.
