It is a small place with a huge presence. Its rich with our own Evansville black heritage and allows you to live back in time for a moment. I absolutely love it. Besides churches its the only nugget we have left to call our own. Theres nothing left here in Evansville about us as a race. I hope that it thrives for years to come.

Im a little biased because Im a member. That being said; the Evansville African American Museum is a delightful way to spend a few hours and learn about the presence of the black community and its contributions to the city of Evansville. The museum itself is a city landmark, saved from the first apartment complex for black citizens. The historical timeline is interwoven with city, state and national events. The exhibits are artfully presented and engaging. If you have a love of history, an open curious mind and a few hours to spare, you will enjoy this museum.

My mother and I went there for the Juneteenth celebration and it was a great atmosphere. They had talented youth speakers and other guest speakers there and they hosted a beautiful dinner. The museum was also lovely.

I took my three grand daughters whom are mixed their mom is white and their dad is african american or black however you choose to say it. I want them to know where they came from on both sides of their national origin because sometimes it is important to know what you started from to help you keep perspective on where you want to go in life. Our race (so called) or our gender should not set us back and it cannot unless we let it. The only person besides yourself that can cause you to fall down and stay down is Jesus or well actually the Father God he only does it for a very short time because all parents should teach a proper balance of love and discipline in their homes and abroad. Anyways love yall and God truly loves all of us more than we know sometimes i know because the Bible tells me so. Jesus loves us all red and yellow black and white we are presious to his sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world. We were all children once remember? Lets help be the example in our childrens lives dont try to teach the do as i say not as i do method. Children learn what they live and then there are those who break the mold and lead the way for others thank God for them and the rest of us as well.
