I found a cockroach in the tallest racquetball court.Which is an amazing court, dont get me wrong. That roach had clearly been lifting though.Taking advantage of the facility amenities at night while no one was there probably.Great facility though.I bet a free year membership would clear my memory of that beast of a roach.

As a place offering a multitude of sports and games options, it is pretty cool. However, if you only come here to workout and exercise then it just looks pretty and lacks a lot of functional equipment. It doesnt make sense but they have like 30 gyms and lack a lot of functional machines. You can tell where they tried to save money with a lot of the multi-purpose machines but slow these machines dont adapt to the human body will it actually wind up hurting you, theyre just not good machines. Also to add on to other reviews, this place is pretty bad about inconsistently enforcing rules and not others. I did see a guy set his cell phone on top of his water bottle out in the open and nobody said anything. On the wall it says to put all of your stuff away but nobody seems to care about anything other than bags for some weird reason. Im not talking about giant duffle bags, Im talking about a normal drawstring bag that any serious lifter might have, they always make sure to come over and say something about it. Im pretty sure that a cell phone breaking into multiple pieces across the floor is more dangerous than a small bag that everybody can noticeably see. When I confronted a staff member about this, he said that their management actually told them to lay off people about the cell phones but they want them to enforce the bags, and that doesnt make sense to me. Another noticeable thing that they have done is that they have taken away the comment cards, probably because other people were complaining about the same issues and they didnt want to deal with it. Otherwise this place could really use an increase in hours, because tuition is actually pretty expensive and if we have this much taken out intuition to use the facility and it should be open longer than it is preferably 24 hours

Really disappointed in the decision to cut the Fitness Block hours short to a 10pm close. Cant stress enough how much it meant to me to have a place to workout where I didnt have to wait too long for equipment. The gym is already very congested as it is and the fitness block was a haven to us late-night regulars. Had to end my workout early last night when I was forced to transfer to the other weights room and couldnt find open equipment for my routine.I sincerely hope UO Rec reconsiders this change. It doesnt seem like a very costly adjustment to open one room for 2 more hours every night and provides a lot of value to students with busy schedules who just want to workout. Thanks!

Lots of cool stuff, but a serious lack of free weights /machines becomes apparent whenever it gets busy, which is pretty much always during the term from 8 to 8.

Place is legit. Lots of basketball courts good competition from students and the college athletes that show up. Basketball games usually played Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11am-3pm cost about 10 for non students and 6 for people who get sponsored by a student

After consistently working out at the rec the last few months, I went in today for a body composition test and had the best experience with Brooke S. She was very knowledgeable and made me feel so comfortable! I loved the Rec before this, but now I will definitely do the test again with her and continue coming.

Its only open to students, but I think you might be able to buy a membership. Its really comprehensive in all the different activities that can be done from rock climbing to swimming, to an indoor track to every kind of equipment you can think of. I dont go enough when Im a student, and I miss it too much when Im off for the summer.

The rec center is a great facility, which is to be expected at UO. Theres an expansive weight room that overlooks the pool on one side and Heyward field on the other, which is being rebuilt. Theres also a few pads and bumper plates for Olympic lifts. The uptown section has plenty of cardio equipment and basketball courts.

Every time I go the rules are selectively applied. Im told to clean up while still working out, but the guys beside me are taking videos conveniently in view of a sign that says no video. Equality of enforcement doesnt seem to be a thing. Needs a pro staff instead of undergrads.

Top-tier facility space-, and equipment-wise; you would be hard-pressed to find a gym more functionally equipped for any type of workout. Anyone: crossfitters, boxers, cyclists, powerlifters, weightlifters, swimmers, runners, etc will find themselves at home. Belts, locks, pads, foam rollers, towels, bands, and more available for check out. Variety of classes to engage in if desired. Gender-neutral restrooms on site as well.Note it IS a university gym, so performative hypermasculinity/bro culture, and Instagram modeling can be real, depending on when you go; consequently, can feel (atmospherically) intimidating toward those societally classified as female-presenting, or overweight. Staff is mostly friendly, but some contribute to the toxicity of the space (e.g. glaring, judgmentally gazing, body policing, appearing completely disinterested in doing their jobs, huddling up and socializing, etc.)Worth your time and money if you go in selfishly with intention and purpose, knowing what you need to get from your time there--your will and discipline will overcome any of the obstructions listed above.Equipment/space: 5/5Environment/accessibility: 2/5

Ladies, if you plan on showing any sort of skin dont go. A sliver of my stomach was showing and they kicked me out. Yet I saw multiple girls wearing short spandex and they were freely working out which is super ironic. So 90% of your legs can be out but if a little bit of your stomach is showing then thats not allowed? I didnt know this was an Islamic state. And the only reason I gave them 1 star is because unfortunately I didnt have the option to give them zero stars.

The University of Oregon Student Rec Center is the best sports center in the whole city of Eugene. It is huge. It has an uncountable number of indoor courts for many sports, swimming pools, workout machines, a tennis complex, rock climbing walls and 5 or 6 fields that can be used for football, soccer, freesbee and a lot of different sports. It is a great place to go if you are around Eugene and need to do sports!

Looks good for outsiders has dozens of issues once you use it read below.Ranks as one of two best gyms in town. Many problems 1-loud music in the cardio room 2-the A/C and fans are not evenly spread out 3- cant use cycling studio without paying extra. 4-They dont give you a full tour when you first sign up or become a new student the place is huge seriously, you get lost. 5-always some equipment issues like no tv channels or has a usb that dont charge. No cold water at fountains, poor quality soap in showers and poor quality TP. 6- the lockers in the mens shower rooms are dirty inside. Expensive parking. The dress code for women does not allow midriff or sports bra, the women have to break the rules here and risk being picked on by staff to be comfortable.
