I kayaked here and was rewarded with eagles, foxes and osprey on my bike ride around the trail system! Did you know they have free bicycle rentals and a trail system? Most people just stay in their boats, enjoying their music and drinks in the cove, so I had the trail system to myself. Gorgeous!$6 to camp overnight on the beach. Restrooms were closed due to covid, but there was water available.
This is an amazing spot... even better because you can only get there by boat. Which means FEW people. If you can manage to get your boat grounded and get out for a walk, it’s beautiful. There is a narrow shoreline for walking, and lots of bugs (bring the bug spray) but the treasures abound if you look for them. Worth a trip over!
No bad review. Just have to a boat to visit the park beach
Great place to take the family and relax
They are working on a really cool restoration project here. The beach is nice too if you have a way to get to it. Lots of birds to see and trails to walk.
I find it odd that Google is asking about this place, since you can only get there by boat. It is a state park. You can camp overnight on the beach. Weekends are crowded in the middle of summer. Week days are your best bet. Theres only a dozen or two boats during the weekdays.
Great place to park the boat and swim with the family and friends. Some what protected from head winds and full of fun folks sharing a laugh. Not sure how you would get there without a boat.
Great place to hang out on our boat and free bikes to ride around the path on the island!
Its May 1st and the visitor center, beach, and south cell trails are closed :( Sadly found out by Kayaking all the way out there. Very little interpretative signage unless you walk up the boardwalks past the Area Closed signs to the back of the buildings. The signage states that the beach is closed Tues and Wednesday. Prior to the trip I could not find these types of details on the DNR Website. Apparently the beach includes the trails too. There was a saw horse at the beginning of trail stating - closed to the public. Despite this the camping sites are in cool locations and it looks like cool island to walk around. I look forward to coming back to explore but I wish there was more information provided online. Make sure to call ahead before your trip to save you a let down.
Good beach area, picnic tables and plenty of boaters there. Seaweed in water and beach area
If you can get there, this place is perfect. Therein lies the charm. I highly recommend packing in overnight via kayak or canoe! Waking up for a sunrise swim is a delightful experience. The sandy point is perfect for beachside reading. BRING BUG SPRAY. The interior of the island is a swamp and those bugs come out at night in droves.
Great place to hang out. Watch out for evil bugs though on land (mosquitos).
Love Hart Miller Island. Only Problem is People Need to Work On There Courtesy
Great place to anchor, chill, swim, and enjoy being on the water.
If you have a boat, fishing over there is a good choice
Best beach to swim
Great place to take the family! A must is the bike/walking trail, free bikes to use. They have a volleyball net, camping and plenty of bird watching. They always have something going on for the kids. Check out the calendar when you get to the island. Say hi to park ranger Molly she is awesome.
I have been going here since I was a child on my parents boat, now as an adult seeing how much this place has improved is amazing. There is always a ranger there now and theyve even started doing things for the gets to get involved!
The island, initially a controversial project involving dredge from the bay, has become a haven for wildlife (especially birds!) and boaters alike. Wade off your boat and take a spin around the island on a free bicycle rental or rent a campsite overnight. Enjoy a Chesapeake Bay treasure... not a natural formation, but one thats shown great benefit.
Our favorite place to stop at by boat for a while. Now that its open to the public we have just begun exploring the rest of the park. The camping spots are fairly secluded but a bit buggy. They are on the west and south sides just below the rangers station and watch tower (took us a bit to locate them all.) Kids love exploring the beaches and bird watching. If your going to spend extended time there be sure to check in with the rangers. Check out the bike rentals as well.
Great place to join other boats
Awesome place to park the boat and hang out!
Fun place to enjoy a day on the water
Nice party and swim spot
Nice place to get off the boat to have a picnic with friends and hang out. There are several benches and areas to stop on the beach. Fun place to hang out on a weekend during the warmer months and soak up the sun.
Great spot to bring your boat
Did go with 5 stars because we havent camped yet (although we want to! ). The island is a gem and is one of the best places to play hookie from work. Careful though... we once found broken glass at the waterline (just once).
Beautiful man made island/state park that we frequently visit on the boat. They have bathrooms on the island, campsites, and even free bicycle rentals to ride around the trails on the island! Have not yet camped overnight, but plan to this summer.
DNR is allowing people to trash the place and are not showing presence or enforcement
Decent fishing nearby in the spring/fall. Nice place to anchor up and hang out
Great spot for boaters and camping
We have a wonderful time Labor Day weekend pontoon boat went right up to the island rather clean though the storms and rain lately has made a little bit of debris there is a lot of seagrass around but very nice clean Sandy Bottom they say the seagrass means we have healthy water brought me back to my childhood ! Minus the hot dog boat !
Great place to go and relax and swim ,dogs had a great time also ,tons of boats today
Family oriented and beautiful. From beach volleyball to laughs with friends, this is the place to be.

Great boating destination on the bay. Busy on weekends. Quiet during the week.
Great place to visit on the boat however if you dont like crowds dont come on the weekend.
An unusual Maryland State Park thats made up mostly of dredged material from Chesapeake shipping channels and accessible only by water.
My favorite place
So nice now you can explore it all.
Love Ocean City
Great place to hang out, but the beach needs new grills and picnic tables.
Whats not to love....
Awesome for relaxing on the beach, lunch bbqs. Want to try the bike option next visit. Some camp sites had poison ivy everywhere.
Great place to anchor out and swim with our Chesapeake bay retriever
