We had a rowing lesson led by our instructor, Colten, and it was awesome. It was obvious he was an expert, and was friendly and easy to talk to. Very cool dude indeed. My wife and I feel much more comfortable on the water now. Thanks Colten!

My experience with Reds has been outstanding. I did a fish along in mid-November with Jack Copeland and had a great time. He was friendly and broke things down into simple instructions that I could replicate on my own. We talked about techniques for catching fish in the winter and had some great success. He also gave me some tips for the summer time too. I spent some time rowing as I have recently purchased a drift boat and was able to comfortably navigate on my own, through his calm and thorough instruction. When I struggled a bit with backing the boat in, which was much more responsive than my 25-foot trailer, the staff at Reds was nothing but supportive. Im storing my boat there now and look forward to becoming a regular at this great shop.

This is a great outfit to hunt planted birds! The first time I hunted here, I purchased two buckets of birds and planted them myself. The second time, I brought there were three hunters and I had Reds plant the pheasants. Both times worked great. Reds birds act and fly like wild birds. They are mature with long tails, and it felt like hunting in the wild. The staff (Bob) were great, very helpful, friendly and easy going. This is a great program/outfit!

Great float trip with Jack on the lower Yakima river. I have been out with many guides over the years and Jack proved to be one of the better guides. Would definitely book with Reds in the future.

Well, heres my first experience with this fly shop: owner puts out some cool videos on YouTube for beginners. I watch a few of the videos and then figure maybe I should support these guys and purchase something for all this great information theyre providing for free online. I purchase the deadly dozen flies, happy to support the smaller guys over big chain stores. Im super excited for the custom deadly dozen flies to arrive given how informative the videos are. The flies arrive without any description of what was sent (size, usage, purpose) - nothing. I reach out to Reds via chat to see if I can get more information on these flies. I get told to go to the website and look them up. I express my disdain at this lack of customer service. Then, Im told to upload a picture of the flies and theyll try to identify them. Chat ended. Picture of flies uploaded to chat and emailed to Reds. (Update: I added one star. The next day I received an email that identified the flies and took a best guess at sizes. This whole experience could have been avoided if I had either A. not ordered from Reds, or B. Reds had put something in the packaging that identified the flies. Even a hand-written post-it note would have been fine.)

Floating the river with Red’s was about the best experience possible. I’m sorry I ever waited this long to do it and our family can’t wait to do it again next summer. Thankfully we got a reservation – we filled out the waivers online, showed up, and the raft was ready. They drove us to the launch point. They gave us 3-4 pointers, and off we went. We put in exactly as asked, went to our cars, and drove away. We figured that it cost us about $8 per hour per person to have the best three hours of the summer. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. And I’m glad we did a raft rather than floaties bc there were definite advantages to the raft that floaties can’t provide on this excursion.We tried a short run with our kids on the fear that they would be bored – three hours felt like 15 minutes. Next summer we’ll do an all-day run. Thank you for a great time! We will definitely return.

I have ordered from Reds a few times. Most recently I ordered a reel with line and backing. They let me know via note in my package, the backing I ordered was not heavy or long enough for the reel I ordered...oops. They very kindly went ahead and put on the appropriate backing for me! I am a novice and they quickly answered my questions. They have a customer for life in me. Thanks guys!

Floated the Klickitat several days this fall with the crew from Reds. Would have been in over my head in our boat, but with Curtis on the sticks, I wasnt ever nervous. They know the river, the fish, and how to put a boat exactly where it needs to be wether thats through a rapid, or on the fishy line. Great times, great scenery, with an occasional grab, the best!! Such a hard working crew. Set set set I sure heard that a lot... It was the scenery, thats my story anyway... Cant wait to go again.

I have had nothing but great experiences this summer with Reds. I would especially like to plug their university of fly fishing program. I went from zero knowledge to having a blast fly fishing all summer. Their fishalongs were a great way to learn the basics and more. The guides were not only informative but fun to fish with, which made the whole experience enjoyable. If you are looking to overcome the initial learning curve of fly fishing with some hands-on experts, then I cant imagine a better place to do it.I would also definitely recommend their fly shop. You will always get great service and, more importantly, what you need.

My family and I had a wonderful experience fishing with the team at Reds in early July. Joe and Max were fantastic guides, getting us all on really nice fish and providing helpful education along the way. We stopped half-way through the float for dinner at Canyon River Ranch and the food was phenomenal. Chef Kevin knocked it out of the park! We will definitely be back for dinner as it is worth the trip. The Reds staff was professional, knowledgeable and we had a lot of fun together. We will definitely plan another trip with them in the future.

Joe is the man if you want to learn euro nymphing. I highly recommend the euro nymphing fish along with him if you are interested in catching fish right away. He’s a great teacher and put us on fish right away. You can’t go wrong with a brother Central Wildcat Alumni.

Had a great day drifting the canyon section of the Yak with Camrin. It was my first time in the area and was well worth it. Camrin tailored the trip to my requests, was helpful, and is great at reading a client. And, he makes a mean riverside lunch. The shop staff was super friendly and helpful (and masked), and the store is very well stocked. Reds is a fly fishing paradise.

My son Ryan and I attended fly-fish 101 with Mike Milligan. the day was sunny and Mike took the time to show us the various ways to cast. he also showed us how to examine the river for food that the fish would eat in order to choose the correct fly. My biggest regret was that we didnt take 201 in the afternoon. we will be back to take 201 and more classes. Mike M was a top notch instructor

Went fishing at the Yakima River for the first time. Dropped by Reds to get some general information about fishing the river and campsites. Everyone was helpful and knowledgeable. Special shout out to Jason and Dallas for the extra help. Definitely will come back.

Caution renting boats from Red’s!!!! They are either uncaring or potentially profiting at your peril. Their own site warns about two inherently dangerous anchor types to not use on the Yakima. They then outfit their rental boats with what appears to be old surplus examples of they “dangerous” anchors. When you lose one they charge more than the day’s boat rental and almost twice as much as a chain anchor system being sold on their site. Nearly lost two friends when the anchor got stuck on bottom, luckily they are experienced rowers and knew to sacrifice the anchor before boat went under. Red’s charged me $270 for an antiquated Anchor known as a Hyde Spike. If they weren’t so dangerous you could buy one online for less than half that! After reading their own article this all has the appearance of being a way to sell off the old anchors and make some cash in the process. If you rent a boat to float the Yakima canyon from Red’s, insist on a chain anchor, please, for your own safety. Sorry Red’s, this smelled way to fishy.

We rented a raft through Reds to take our 4 young kids down the river. They were kind, helpful, and professional. One staff member even took the time to give a few words of reassurance to my very anxious son (first time rafting) and really helped him enjoy the day. Thanks!

Two days of guided fly fishing on the Klickitat River in October. Muddy water conditions, so not many fish, but enough for a great time. Excellent guide, Steve Burns, who was the fishiest guide I have ever been with. He provided great spey casting instruction, and he worked his tail off in very windy conditions. Aside from the terrible hotel (Ponderosa Motel in Goldendale), this was a great trip! I am a long time client of Reds and will return often.

Ive never been to their physical location but subscribe to the YouTube channel and podcast. Recently placed an order through the website for some flies, etc. The live chat was helpful and I ordered what was recommended. WOW! What a great experience. As a casual fly-fishing bum of 20+ years, I decided to take a “University of Fly Fishing” walkalong class from Red’s this week. I was interested in the Euro Nymphing class but had no prior experience. My guide, Joe, was ready and waiting when I showed up with boat, rod, reel, fly’s and knowledge just waiting to hit the water. Joe’s clear and easy to understand instruction was frequently interrupted by fish I was catching. Going well north of double-digit fish to hand, this was by far my best day on the Yakima. I have always had positive experiences with Reds, and can easily say I gained a new fishing buddy in the process. I have been stopping by Reds for years during my yakima fly fishing adventures but in the last couple of years decided to take more classes. I took an amazing streamer fishing class from Jack almost two years ago now and this year took a guided trip with him. We caught goooood fish! I also have been getting into taking my own fishing raft down and realized the last trip I should have a spare Oar and got the spare tire ... well it was a little too big for my mini cobra oar locks and a total noob move. Bob in the shop was AWESOME. He ordered exactly what I needed from Sawyer and we just swapped the oars. Call ahead if you want a shuttle! Today we drove almost 2 hours from the Tri-Cities in order to do an afternoon/evening float, only to find that Reds stopped doing their shuttles at 2pm today. We arrived at 2:01pm. Weve been doing this for years and dont recall such an early cap on the shuttles, especially in the middle of summer. Sad, wasted a vacation day for a 4 hour car ride dragging the boat around, that just landed us back home.

Reds is the best...there guides are top tier and try and give you the best experience.

The Good: beautiful river, fly shop and lodgeThe Bad: VERY slow fishing – only caught two fish both under 10 inches on a full day float – this included several hours where the guide was also fishing independently and didnt catch anythingThe Ugly: rude and unresponsive management made a poor day of fishing notable enough to compel me to take the time to write this comment (the first time i have ever taken the time to comment on anything ever!).Summary: I would not recommend spending any real travel time to get to this river - there are much better spots in this and other adjoining states - but if for some unfortunate reason you have to fish this river, I would highly recommend finding another guide service to take you out

Even though I was not a client at Reds these guys saved me! After an evening fishing on the Yakima I got sloppy and left my wadding boots on the side of the road as I left to drive back to Seattle. The next morning I got in touch with Reds and they were able to grab them and ship them back to me. They took great care of me even though I was not a client and I can only imagine how well they take care of those they work with. Cant thank them enough!

I have placed multiple orders from Reds. While I have always been satisfied with the quality of their products, their customer service could use some improvement. Specifically, when I called on a couple of occasions to talk briefly with the staff regarding the use of the products it really seemed as if they had little to no time for me. Customer service is the core of a small business. I hope that I do not again encounter this problem at Reds.

I contacted Reds Fly shop via their page because I did not know how to set up my switch rod and had been frustrated by my attempts to use the rod for two handed casting. Kentucky is not an easy place to get advice on Spey casting. I could not find any FFI certified spey casting instructors in KY for example. Craig at Reds was very patient with my rooky questions and steered me to exactly what I needed for my rod, linked me to some online videos and even provided a slow motion version so I could see and understand how to use the Skagit line with my rod. I cant say enough about how great it is to have access to such a knowledgeable person to help me.

Great service and tons of goodies as well as the ability to test your gear in the yakima riverton and there which they seem to encourage at the store. There also seemed to be a nice associated lodge and the ability to get guided trips there as well. This seems to be a bit of a fly fishers mecca, strongly encourage a visit here if you ever get a chance!

These guys are great...I made a call to Reds and asked some questions about switch line and reel and then ordered online. They spooled it up with backing which I did not expect but was pleasantly surprised. Super friendly and knowledgeable about their trade.

Great customer service-- bought a jacket on clearance that malfunctioned before I got it on the water. They sent me a brand new one in the mail before I sent mine back. The guides are also super helpful, even to folks like me that cant afford their services!

Beautiful trip despite some slow fishing. However, the guide we booked through Reds had his car broken into while we were on our float, stealing a bunch of our stuff. Reds didnt seem too concerned about it and offered a 10% discount at their shop. FAIL

Called up and ordered a dozen flies from Klickitat Craig. Guy was a real gentleman and sure helped me out a lot. Couldnt have talked to a better guy.

I put in two large orders to Reds Fly Shop for flies and leaders before heading down to Mexico for a saltwater trip. I ended up second guessing myself and canceled the flies, but they accidentally canceled the leaders. I ended up re-ordering the flies, but by the time we figured out that the leaders were canceled, my trip was a few days away. Steve Joyce (one of the guys that works there) then personally overnighted me all the leaders I ordered without charging me and said we can worry about it when I get back and that he just wanted to get me on the water without any hassle. I was and am blown away by their customer service and to what lengths they will go to make things right.

I was looking for a certain reel for my new Syndicate 3wt rod and decided on the Hardy Ultralite CADD. I began searching and came across Reds. The reel was priced pretty much the same everywhere, and then I saw their special for line and backing. I thought no brainer and ordered it. I got it today and they sent me a few leaders and flies with it. I thought that was very cool. Not only did I get a good deal, but they went the extra mile and added a few other things in as well. I will definitely purchase from them again in the future. Now just need to break it in tomorrow on the river.

While attending the recent Fly Fishing Confrence in Ellensburg, I special ordered a new fly rod through Reds Fly Shop. They took my billing and shipping information and I was informed that they would send me a confirmation email the next day for the order. Only after I called them did they send the confirmation email. Today, I learned that instead of shipping the rod directly to my home, which was supposed to have been done, the rod was shipped to the fly shop - and then I was informed that it would be sent on to me. A few days after I ordered this rod, I called L.L. Bean and ordered an absolutely beautiful reel to go with it - the service from L.L. Bean was outstanding and the reel arrived today - NICE!! :-) If there is one more snafu with the rod situation, I will return it and order a rod from L.L. Bean - which is probably what I should have done in the first place..... Oh, and I never did receive any type of receipt for my order (I used my debit card), nothing, nada... Im not impressed.....
