I’ve never seen a bigger disgrace of a course in my life. Showed up for a 12:30 tee time and they told us it was an hour and a half delay. No heads up or anything. The guy running the front didn’t even apologize or offer anything to help. Just a quick oh yeah we’re 1hr 30 behind and that’s it. Will never play here again. Probably the worst customer service of any course in the area

Everything at the course was running very well amid the covid-19 situation. All the people were extremely helpful and nice and the course was in good condition, and the tee times were running well. the only part that takes it from a 5 is just the attitude of the person working the concession stand it seems he did not enjoy his job and made it very obvious in his facial expressions and lack of courteousness

This course used to be pretty nice but I played there Sunday and it is in absolutely pathetic condition. Maybe the worst shape I’ve ever seen a Howard County course and that’s saying a lot as there are low standards overall there in my opinion. There are bare patches all over the tee boxes, fairways and greens. The fringe has huge weeds everywhere that look like they’ve been there for a year. For over $60 a round it’s a total ripoff. Over played and grossly under cared for. So sad it’s gone so far downhill. Never again.

Before we even got to the first tee the experience here was frustrating as the cart fee was not just per cart, but per person...never have I paid $36 for one cart at any course, despite being assured this was a normal charge every course has. Laughable...especially after playing it, this course is definitely not worth the premium. When we pulled up to the first tee, there were two groups of people waiting, one of which was in the tee box warming up. Having not been greeted by an employee we waited patiently to be respectful to that group, even past our scheduled tee time. Once they started, we moved up and were then met by an employee who was frustrated with us for being late, despite checking in 15 minutes early and waiting at the tee.Overall this course was overpriced, unprofessional, and not nearly worth the hassle. Theres plenty of other courses with similar costs per round that are on par or better to play in this area.Hard pass.

This used to be a nice course. I booked a group if 3 on GolfNow and it was supposed to be a total of $40 each. When we get there they charged a hefty cart fee and the total ended up around $60. As we played, the greens and fairways were terrible. Greens had lots of divets and dried out spots. The fairways had dry spots and lots of chunks missing everywhere.I would not recommend this course for the price. You can do much better for the price with better conditions at many other courses in the immediate area.

They bait and switch their rates. They only post their walking rates when booking. I asked the guy we checked in with and he said yeah if we posted the full cost it would scare people away so we only advertise the walking rate. Yes, that is a quote.Course staff was not friendly at all.Do not bring women with you during this covid19 issue. The clubhouse is not open and the dont have any port o potties. We had to walk across the road to an Exxon so one of the women in our group could use their bathroom.Even when this course is fully open, I wont be playing there again.

Really solid layout. Walkable as well. Ive played here from the tips and its tough. Ive even played from the red tees in a fun event, and its also a good challenge from that yardage. Theyve put some money into it recently. The bunkers have improved greatly and the conditions overall are good. They still have the slowest and softest greens in the region in my experience. Very sad to be honest. Lots of pitch and spike marks everywhere. The driving range is good and there is grass on the far side. Went down there once but you just have to drive all the way down. They also have a separate chipping green down here. The putting green is a little odd. Theres a huge slope in the middle of it. I didnt see that elevation change too much on the course. The people who work here are always nice and I always get quick and good service at the snack bar.

Course is pretty chewed up and nobody repairs ball marks/divots on the greens. Cart path only to keep it in good condition is what I was told but that is going to take awhile. Due to COVID they are charging more for a single rider on a course. I guess there is a price for safety? nobody else is doing that. A course that’s typically in good shape looks like it’s running out of steam. Hopefully it improves.

I played here this morning. I havent played in years but I must say the conditions unfortunately are deplorable. Be careful when booking!Ive played Timbers plenty of times in the past... always during the week and always riding. The staff is friendly, the course is in good shape, and you can see where the groundskeepers are trying if you run into any trouble areas. But on my last outing, (Sunday, 11/25 @ 12:09pm), the course was jam packed!!!! They let too many people go out. In addition to that, there was no Starter and they allowed walkers on this huge course ...on the weekend...and during twilight! It was ridiculous! It was awful!!! The pace was unbelievably slow!Because there was no Starter, it was chaos. There was a long line of carts and walkers at the #1 tee box at 12:06pm waiting to go out [early] every time the #1 fairway cleared. Me and my foursome pushed our way to the front of the line because there was no way anybody could have a time before us at this point. As I waited to tee off, there were 10 walkers on the hole ahead of us!!!!As big as this course is, I thought the walkers would drop off after 9. I was wrong! They pushed on! I called into the Clubhouse around the 12th hole to complain and NOBODY answered the phone. It was a terrible round. Ive heard several rumors that Timbers is notorious for allowing walkers - even at twilight - but this was the first that I was victimized.Play during the week!!! Youll enjoy it. Do not book on the weekend!!!

We went on a Saturday morning and it had been raining but not too bad. We walked the course because it was cart path only with a cart so it would be quicker if we walked. It was $54 to walk 18 holes. Way overpriced for the condition of the course. The greens were not well maintained and there were a lot of bare and burnt out areas on the fairways and greens. There are other courses within a 20 mile radius that are much better and much more fun than this course. Definitely recommend going to a different course ins

Just played Timbers at Troy. The course was in pretty good to good shape and the pace of play was perfectly acceptable for a busy Friday afternoon. While the course is somewhat short, the layout is quite challenging on certain holes. The fairways were generally in good shape as were the greens. As previously mentioned, a few bunkers needed a lot of work but most were in acceptable shape. All in all, a very good deal for $37, would definitely play again!

Review №59

Great course if youre a beginner, although its expensive for what you get. Its impossible to score out here because the greens are so slow and bumpy. The course needs a green roller. Not sure why they dont want their course to have good greens since this has been a problem for years. Its a waste of a good layout.

Review №60

Tee boxes were a mess. Bunkers were water filled (and not much rain lately) and the ones that were dry didnt have any sand in them, just a rocky mess. I understand you need to aerate the greens and thanks for the reduced rate, but there is no need to leave the plugs in the fringe and rough surrounding the green. Its just lazy.Pace was good for a Thursday at 3 pm.

Ed
Review №61

One of the most overpriced courses in the area. The layout is fine, and the course is generally in good shape, but the pace of play and the cost are what keep me away. There are some holes where you will think that youve hit a good drive, but because it is blind, you end up having trouble finding your golf ball, which I believe contributes significantly to pace of play. BTW, unless you want to give yourself a heart attack, ride, dont walk, this course.

Review №64

Timbers of Troy is dump. Most of the bunkers are devoid of almost any sand. They are mostly hard packed clay. The greens had been aerated, necessary maintenance, but the voids should be filled with sand and they were not. Also, the plugs should be removed from the greens. Timbers left piles of plugs on multiple greens. Also, a golf course should find a suitable use for the plug. At a minimum, they should find an out of the way place to dispose of them. At Timbers any place just off the cart path seems to fine with them. Timbers has lots of zones call environmentally sensitive area asking the golfers to stay out of them, but these guys use these areas to dump their broken tees. Really, I think it was next to the bridge on the 12th hole over an environmentally sensitive area. Number 8 is next to a shopping area and trash from there has blown across the course and apparently that is where it will stay. All this is a shame because the course is a fine layout, but like all golf course, it requires good maintenance and Timbers greens keeper is just too lazy to bother.

I love the layout of the this course which is the primary reason for the rating I gave it. I play here frequently as its very close to my job and home. The course itself is typically in good shape but the greens are painfully slow almost every time. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Many people complain about the price but most of the courses in this area have similar greens fees so I feel its priced fairly reasonably. All things considered, I enjoy this course and will continue to play golf here. I do recommend avoiding it at peak times as it seems to have pace of play issues on weekends and friday afternoons.

Horrible round today due to extremely rude ranger who didnt do his job keep up pace of play. He intentionally put a twosome behind a foursome, then all but refused to hurry up the foursome or suggest to them to let the twosome play through. We called the clubhouse twice after multiple times seeing this foursome on the tee box while the entire hole in front of them was empty. This particular foursome was taking on average of 5-10 minutes per green as well.Course was in pretty good shape, but the experience with this ranger and pace of play ensures I will never be back.BTW-the price was lowered to $60, which is about $20 overpriced for the quality of layout and upkeep.

I would give the course review a 2 out of 3, but the price knocked it down to a 1. The holiday rate (4th of July) was $70! I normally dont post reviews but after todays experience at the timbers at Troy I felt ripped off. So right before I started this post I read a post from sSteinbach and 100% agree. I got the same story about how they are going to make the course like agusta national by next season ....ok then why are you charging a premium rate this season. Imagine calling a plumbing company to fix a leak and they send out a kid to do the work and they say hes gonna be a great plumber in a few years. Every facet of the course was sub par and I was let down. This course has a great layout , it just seems under maintained.

My group plays different courses bi-weekly and this was by far the worst course (value) in my 5 years in the league.I do appreciate them reducing greens fees from $69 to $59 due to aeration however, I feel like I got ripped off paying that much to play this course in its current state which is a shame because I like its design and layout are great.Very simply put my problems with today were:1) They put out a foursome of walkers directly ahead of us. I walk much of the time myself so I have no bias against walking but, they all would walk to each others balls and took forever to clear an area. They fell behind by 20 mins by hole 11 (conservative estimate) and we were told by the ranger that they were close to on pace. I know some holes are challenging but, never should you have two groups consistently on the same tee box if the Ranger is doing his job. He was friendly enough but, not able to hurry groups along.2) No one bunker had an ounce of sand in it. It was all dirt and maybe once was it raked. We removed several rocks from the bunkers larger than a quarter (I know illegal but, ridiculous to have them in there). In one instance a group member of mine had a beer bottle left directly in his line of flight, altering his shot. Some bunkers you did get a good lie in though, especially when your ball sat on top of the grass growing in the bunkers. More on this later.3) All the tees were terrible. It looked like the tee markers hadnt been moved in weeks. The turf was chewed up and terrible.4) The fairways looked like they hadnt been watered in weeks. I know it is mid-April but, there was not a sign that anything had been watered or cut in a long time.5) The range had ball buckets strewn about and the practice facility itself leaves a lot to be desired.6) The clubhouse was surrounded by wasps and some got in. Really hard to enjoy a beer after the round while your wondering if your going to get stung.7) However, the main reason for this review was the director of golf after the round. I dont like to post on here unless I feel absolutely necessary and in this case I did because of him. When I made the comment that it was surprising there were any birdies due to conditions he immediately went defensive stating several other courses aerated. When I pointed out it wasnt the aeration we were talking about but the terrible condition of the bunkers, tees, and fairways he proceeded to tell me how great the bunkers were going to be next year. So wait, I have to pay full price now for horrible quality and be ok with my round being unenjoyable because the bunkers will be great next year? Total lack of care and compassion and even body language suggested it was an effort in futility to even approach him any further. In summary, the course is going downhill and is suffering from a severe lack of maintenance. I believe there are many other places you can better spend your money for the value your getting. In the condition this course is in it is not worth any more than $30 with the aeration and $40 normally. Really a shame as I remember when the course was a really nice track.
