Ive been to this museum before COVID and I have to say its very impressive. Id go so far as to say its the Field Museum Jr. Talking with staff at the time, there is supposedly going to be a change in some of the exhibits, displays and programs. Theyve yet to prove me wrong and I cant wait to return soon and see their progress
Took our kids to story time here on a cold Saturday morning. The staff was friendly, place was warm and kids enjoyed the visit. Museum is definitely 100 years old. The building seemed more interesting than the exhibits. I realize that things like this take funding, but doesnt seem like theyve updated since the 70s. We would return more often, or even do a paid membership if they offered upgraded programming.
Very nice small museum to bring the children too. Also very affordable. They old lady though could have a better attitude with the children. She gets bothered by them playing in the play area (which is meant for them to play in).
I always enjoy visiting this museum when my grandchildren visit from Canada. I dont get around that well so its small size is ideal. Great for learning about the Illinois area, and I get something new every time. Kids also enjoy the small gift shop.
Took daughter and wife, some of the exhibits were a little broken. However, the attendant was very cheerful and eager to help any way she could. Had a wonderful display of the history of Elgin, and of endangered species (a little bird heavy, but still interesting). If everything was in working order the price of admission could easily be worth double what theyre currently charging. Overall we all enjoyed the 2 hours we spent there.
This is a lovely little museum focusing mostly on natural history with some regional history in the middle of Lords park. The building is beautiful, and while the exhibits are a little threadbare in places, they have some cool stuff to explore. Its an inexpensive and educational way to spend a half hour or so.
This is a very affordable museum of natural history. They showcase extinct specimens as well as many local specimens. My daughter LOVES the dinosaur skull and the childrens area.
My girls loved it. Staff was excited and helpful.
Very nice museum that is well kept with interesting displays. Displays will rotate so it is fun to visit multiple times.
This is really awesome place to know more about native Americans
Small but fascinating. Lovely people there
So much Elgin history in one place. Love all of the history and displays of past and present. Very knowledgeable staff. Excellent resources for the old architectural houses
A very small but still interesting place. Two dollars to get in.
Adorable little museum, right here in Elgin, nice displays and friendly staff
Its a small park museum, but there is a kids section that was very entertaining with things for kids to build with, drawers to open and find toys, games and puzzles. Plus the bathroom was clean so if your at the park and need a clean bathroom or it starts to rain, you can stop in there and spend a half hour or hour and entertain the kids inside.
Nice little museum. Very cool.
Neighborhood museum. Cozy and pretty cool
Nice little museum on the east side of town. Check hours before you go. Very easy on the wallet.
Think you very nice
Its a nice museum but its a bit small, wont take you more than 20 mins to see the whole exibit
Tiny, comfy museum packed with great staff, great exhibitions, and a GREAT gift shop!
The zoo was a little disappointing, the people there were just sat around on their phones and didnt answer any questions my kids had about the animals. The parks are nice and big but, sadly for museum was closed when we got there.
Red Hawks presentation of 18th century Potawatomi man was awesome.
Great Native Day
Very friendly staff, and it was nice to visit the Museum.
