Arrived 9:00 AM on Saturday August 30. Tree shaded area still very pleasant temperature. Skate park closed. Club house appeared open, but we did not check it out. ECPD Community Service Officer was just leaving. Nothing unpleasant to report. Level paved walkways and got our mile in.

City workers do as little as possible and take as much time explaining why they wont do something as it would taken to do it. Example: I asked a city worker to clean out a drain on the drinking fountain. He said there is mud in there. I said your job is to clean it out but he did not.

There is hardly any lights and theres an area built for the kids to play, but is kept locked up and when the children find a way to get in, the police comes to keep them out. Also, the bathrooms are locked up too early. So, the lights need to be fixed, 5he bathrooms open later and keep the childrens area open for them. As long as the children keep their masks on and are safe, there should be no reason to keep it closed.

This large green space is very well taken care of and features many amenities including tennis, raquetball, baseball field, playground, skateboard park, picnic tables and more. The park is settled in among residential neighborhood, and is a few miles from the nearest freeway, the 8. When you visit, youll enjoy the wide variety of trees including pine and seasonal colors. Street parking is limited, especially during busy times. Get off your iPad, and go play outside!

During the daytime this park is always a quiet Oasis of shade and fun. There are some issues with the homeless and the teenagers who are acting up, but they are few and far between. The REC center has plenty of fun and safe options including a skate park for scooters and skateboards... Its always fun. The playground is small and for younger kids, but it is always a blast for my kids

One of the best parks in El Cajon. Rec center, Baseball/Softball/Soccer fields, playground, skate park and plenty of picnic and Birthday party room. Parking lot is small but plenty of street parking for overflow. This park is policed well and doesnt have the same loitering and drug issues that other parks in the area have. Also a perfect place to go for 4th of July, lots of families and activities topped off with a fireworks show synchronized to music at 9pm.

Love to take the dogs here. They always have a great time. People are friendly. Park is clean and well lit. Has a little playground, baseball field, soccer field, tennis courts and skate park. Love watching the skaters while walking the dogs. Some brave kiddos doing tricks in there. Side walk through out park to walk or bike on. Lots of parking. It will get crazy busy around 2pm or 3pm as Granite Hills H.S lets out around that time. Just be prepared for a little bit of cluster and loads of people.I have very odd hours but, have been fortunate to not encounter any danger (knock on wood).*NOT THAT IM SUGGESTING ANYONE GO WALK THIS PARK AFTER HOURS!!!Its just peace of mind being able to go somewhere; walk. After the walk make it home safe and sound.P.S Sometimes they even leave their big baseball field lights on till late.*****Who ever does this THANK YOU I REALLY REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT!! ******

Very disappointed. We went to walk our dogs. The place was over run with homeless and groups of people all ober the place drinkimg, smoking pot and playing loud music. My dogs were terrified and would not walk, we had to carry them to the enclosure for the dogs. The dog park was great. It is divided between large and small dogs and is fenced in. It is well maintained despite tje tons of homeless and drugs. We refused to go back. But since oir last visit they have fenced the entire park in. Although, there is still a huge amount of homeless camped out and druggies using. Stay away!!

This is one of the Cleanest Public park in El Cajon. It is a Pretty large Park with a Rec center. I like it because a great variety of people, multi-national, all ages, enjoy this park. We went to their 4th of July event, the rec center staff were operating the jumpers and seem to know all the kids who attended the rec center, first names. And the children seem to genuinely like the Staff members.

This review is mostly about the GATED SKATE PARK there @ Kennedy Park. Its across from Granite Hills high school. Its a great skate park for scooter riding. Just to name a couple or so of what they have is: a spine, coping, a pyramid & a waterfall. Your kid will know what those are if they like to scooter a lot.You MUST (REQUIRED) to wear protective padding for your knees, elbows & a helmet just to ride in the skate park. I saw an older kid break his front teeth there. Scared me so we got a mouth guard to protect/cover lips & teeth just to be even more safe. I reccomend a mouth gaurd because who doesnt want PEACE OF MIND or to deal w/ the dentist etc.Sometimes it might NOT look like anyone is there in the tiny office where you enter to get into the skatepark but there is ALWAYS a YMCA person inside & ready to come out & hold your membership card while you are inside using the skate park. They return it back to you when you want to leave. The cost is only $5 for the year & sign up for this skate park membership is done in person at the Rec center there in the same park. Youll needa parent to sign & give permission type stuff if your considered a KID that wants to use the skate park. They take a picture of you right there & print out a laminated card w/ your picture & hand it over to you so you can use it the same day @ the skate park. If you loose your card, youll need to pay another $5 for a replacement. We havent lost ours so Im NOT sure if they need to retake your picture again for the replacement card.At the skate park you can find a print out for their current available times/days for scooter riding times etc. Bikes & skateboarders have different time slots. Or you can find it online under the Kennedy Rec Center Skate Park. Its a great place to have your kids at on a Friday night (currently 6-9pm). Nice place to take them instead of your kid(s) being bored, bugging you or siblings at home, needing some exercise or doing anything else you dont want your kids doing. They also provide different levels of classes for scooter, bike & skate boarding. Monday, tomorrow the 16th of Sept. 2019 is the day you are able to register for classes. Its around $40 or so depending if youre a resident or outside of that area. The Rec center has lots of activities to choose from too. Just look up the website Kennedy Park Rec Center. The surrounding area of the park holds orginized sports practice/games & a lot of loud group gatherings playing their own sports, having picnics, having parties & watching their kids play @ the playground. Ive seen lots of jumpers for birthday parties so Im assuming you need to maybe get permission or something(Im NOT sure). I do NOT have experience of having a party or needing a jumper so check it out for yourself online or in person @ the Rec Center. Great place to walk around for exercise too. Bathrooms are open at the Rec center while the Rec Center is open only. The other public bathrooms seem to be open when the Rec center bathrooms are closed. So what Im trying to say is, that its a very pleasant park to spend time at.

This is my sons favorite park to go to in the East County. Its a pretty clean park, with the recreation center located on the property this park gets a lot of maintenance. There isnt a huge homeless problem in this park either unlike other parks in the area. The park features a sports field, lighted ball diamond, a colorful playground, tons of walkways for cycling, walking and jogging and picnicking areas. The park is also home to the annual Fourth of July picnic and fireworks display. Next to the park is the Kennedy skateboard park which caters to skateboards, in-line skates, scooters and BMX bikes.

Review №74

For 4th of July, it was okay. There is only one tiny park for the kids, which was horribly packed. There were a few blowup activities and slides; there were many ice cream trucks and a few food stands. One of those food stands took card. The firework show was short. Most people brought picnic setups, and there is plenty of space to let kids just run around.
