We used to LOVE this place. I was planning on taking my husband there for his birthday next week but well be making other plans now. Im disappointed to see that they are closed to the public now, are charging a $50 membership fee every 4 months to enter AND you have to keep your credit card information on file now. They say they value simpler times and are keeping with 80s history, however their new business model and rules are complicated and no where near simple.

It really saddens me to write this review. If you will notice, the positive review are overwhelmingly from before the new pricing structure, and in the last few months the reviews have taken a harsh turn.I feel like Grinkers built a great product and developed a loyal following, only to completely betray their customer base. I used to bring my kids in about once a month, and we would happily spend our money on food, drinks, milkshakes, and of course, the arcade games. The Simpsons game was our favorite, and we would endlessly pump quarters into that machine. Now the owners want to charge us $65 every 4 months for the opportunity to spend money. There is absolutely no way we are going to do this. We live in Nampa, and while we were happy to come out once a month or so we are not going to pay $195 a year for the opportunity to spend money somewhere. My hope is they either change their pricing methods so I can return to spending money here or someone else takes this opportunity to open up a competing place where you dont have to pay a $195 free to in turn spend more money. I will instantly support another company that does retro arcades.I see the owner responds to negative comments and tells them why they are wrong- and I would offer this advice: The customer is always right, and a huge section of your customer base are ALL telling you the same thing. You should consider listening. I wish you the best of luck.

I love Grinkers! This is due to the fact that I am essentially a 40 year old guy who is going on 12. I love arcade games and these guys have the best selection in Idaho. They also have tasty sandwiches and snacks. The only thing that drives me nuts is you now have to pay a cover fee to get in. I know this is supposed to cover maintenance for the machines but they used to not require a cover and I dont like change....or giving away money that could be extra quarters to play games.

I love the idea of this place! The nostalgia it brings back is priceless! The place seemed clean and there were plenty of tables and room to move around. We went on a Tuesday night though, so Im unsure what the weekends are like. One of my issues was the limited food - I wish they had a gluten free option for their sandwiches or hot dogs. The only thing I could eat was chips. The other issue was the staff didnt seem super friendly and welcoming. They werent rude or anything. They just didnt enhance the experience. The girl at the door almost seemed to dislike her job a bit. It wasnt the best first impression as you arrive and are going to Grinkers for the 1st time. Otherwise, the prices are great and our family had alot of fun! The place was a bit overstimulating for us so we could only manage an hour there- but thats on us and not Grunkers haha! Overall, we will definitely return for family fun night! Thanks Grinkers for keeping the 80s alive! Haha

Definitely an awesome place to visit! Its an 80s arcade on steroids! If you are ever nostalgic for some old school coin-op games, you wont be disappointed. Chances are, any game you remember playing is likely in this place. Its got the dark ambiance and the background sounds of more than a hundred games running in the background. They also have a bar that serves beer, wine soda, and some munchies if you need it.There is an entrance fee(quite reasonable or subscriptions if youd like), but all games are just a quarter after that. The staff is also very friendly and attentive. If you have any issues they are quick to react. They even have a maintenance team actively working Everytime I was there fixing one he or another to keep the active game count really high.

We ordered an assortment of sandwiches and chips brought our own cake and enjoyed $1 rootbeer floats. They now have an admission fee but you can get a 3 month pass for $24 which is for your whole household and anyone with you. The Birthday party is $40 and included the 3 month pass and $16 in quarters. The staff was great. They also have a good selection of beer and wine.

Nostalgia at its finest. ALL games 25 cents. Grinkers has every game i can remember from 35 years ago. And most of the popular games from 25 to 30 years ago. They serve some food and have beer. This is a place for a family or for adults who would like to go back 30 years when gaming was real fun and you had to leave your house to potentially socialize with other human beings. I hope this place never closes. Great job GRINKERS. You have a fan for life. If you have a spouse that was into games just a little... then this is a great cheap date night that isnt cliche.

Truly a one-of-a-kind place, a real shrine to those who grew up in the 1980s and early 90s. Hundreds of classic arcade games, almost all in good, working condition. So many iconic games: Space Invaders, Galaga, Pac-Man, Missile Command, Tempest, Tetris, Super Sprint, Galaxian, Atari XO Trackball football, and classic pinball games like Cyclone, High Speed and (my favorite) Pinbot. All are a quarter to play!Staff was nice and the place really feels like you hopped in the DeLorean, hit 88 mph and ended up in the arcade at the Twin Pines Mall in Hill Valley! Very happy with the way the membership model is working out! The first time we went, prior to the membership, there were quite a few machines down - there was even a corner that seemed like a graveyard for dead games. Now, all the games are only a quarter, they almost all work, and those that didnt were being actively worked on. There are so many crazy old games and theyre in great shape, so it seems like the membership money is being used to preserve the games. Its a fun way to spend an afternoon - drinking beer and playing games. Staff is always super nice and friendly.

This was previously a 5 star business, but their paranoia over covid-19 has led to an insane business model that I refuse to support. A quarterly $50 - $65 membership fee JUST to enter the business, mandatory gratuity charges on all food and drink purchases is just not sustainable and will probably spell doom for the business. The websites message about the change also reeks of passive agression and comes off condescending to long term customers like myself who have spent hundreds of dollars over the years supporting Grinkers since the beginning. Good luck with your draconian new business plan because you wont be getting any more money from me.A reflection of simpler times is not what your approach to this is. It reeks of cowardice and money grubbing to milk as much out of the limited customer base that will embrace this new business model.

This is the best classic game arcade Ive been to in years! I went, not knowing what to expect, and it was a blast. It was like memory lane for me, and my two kids had as much of a good time as I did. Ill admit to being one of those people who are stuck in the 80s but this place has lots of kids playing these games that I would think would rather be playing video games at home or on their phone. You just cant play Space Invaders, Pole Position, Asteroids, Atari Football, Sprint, Commando, Sea Wolf, 1942 etc. with the same feel at home. These authentic games are the best... and Grinkers had so many, it was hard deciding which ones to play. With good adult beverages, a medium sized bar, and family tables to the side, along with free refills on sodas, its worth feeding a bunch of quarters one by one into well-maintained video games and pinball machines. Did I mention that their moderately priced sandwiches are spectacular? Look in local brochures and online for $10 off coupons and make a day of it. The staff was super friendly and my daughter and I bonded in a whole new way that I could really relate with... Playing video games from the 80s with Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar, AC/DC, Judas Priest and all of the rest, blaring in the background. Grinkers Grand Palace made my day. Go there... I promise... you wont regret it!

Amazing selection of retro arcade and pinball games, many that are quite rare and many from the dawn of video-gaming (eg - Old B&W Atari standups, early solid state pinball games, etc).It is a paradise for retro gaming, and a pretty darn good retro pinball joint! My only issues were the low red light overhead makes it difficult to play pinball (stadium lights like Pinstadiums would do a ton of good), and some of the flipper mechs were in need of being cleaned and rebuilt, so you could get the power necessary to hit the ramps and back targets. Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and 2 sons visited this weekend for the first time. I’d wanted to check it out but just hadn’t. Didn’t really know about the daily fees but they were small enough I didn’t mind it. I wasn’t aware the coin machine only took single bills so got some change from the bar. I walked around and scoped out the selection of games. I was pretty excited for a few of them. Played a few games that seemed to be really glitchy, but that’s what you’ll get from old technology I suppose. I do wish there were more options for younger kids but couldn’t really seem to find any. We all shared 2 large sandwiches and the wife and I had a beer. $22 for 2 beers and 2 sandwiches (not horrible price) They were very tasty!! Unfortunately all of us got some diarrhea later on that day. I’m guessing it was from the Italian dressing, but who knows. I do wish they had a few more options on the menu. But it’s better to do 1 thing well, than many things mediocre. Finally we left, and got a little of that midday leaving a movie theater vibe. The place is very dimly lit, so when you leave put on some sunglasses lol. Overall I had a good time. I’ll most likely be back without the kids and will probably steer away from the Italian dressing though.

Grinkers is a place to play lots and lots of great arcade games and it’s loaded with plenty of 80s nostalgia. Which I love! I was a regular habitual visitor and would go out of my way to drive there just so I could spend hours playing the great games there. I haven’t been there to visit in awhile and was asked by my friend if I wanted to go. I absolutely jumped at the invite, I’d been planning to go Grinkers anyway. So I called up another friend and invited him and his kids cause they haven’t even been there. We arrived and I was anxious to show my friend and his kids this place and let his mind take a trip down memory lane with this kind of arcade. As I walked up to the door I was greeted with some new signs... Apparently since the last time I visited they had become a “Members Only” establishment and I had to fork over some unnecessary entrance fee cash so I could enter the arcade. Since when did an arcade in the 80s have to have a “cover charge” to enter and play games? So after We were fed a line of garbage (Supposedly people were hurting the machines, I understand that the machines can be damaged by people who can’t seem to be civil and not break things, but I don’t think it’s right to charge those who aren’t causing damage. The good customers out weigh the bad in this kind of situation. Arcades get broken and they wear out, that the way this business works. Maybe have someone walk around once in awhile and survey their customers and by all means kick out those who are damaging property and charge them for the destruction.) over expensive memberships and had my drivers license scanned so I was allowed to go in and pay for said membership at the bar. My friends and I had to stand at the bar for almost 10 minutes to pay for our 1 Day Memberships which was way too expensive, let’s not even bring up the cost of the 3 month and 1 Year Membership. Then I had to get quarters which tacked on even more to this overly priced scam. This place used to be great and now is just another place to rip people off with unnecessary memberships. I used to recommend this place to everyone, now I’ll forget this place even exists. My friends and I will not be back. You’d be better off finding a better source of entertainment than to waste your money. It makes me sad that this place that I loved has stooped so low... Game Over...

Lots of staff are available if you need any help. You can buy quarters using a card, they will start a tab for you. Weekend wait times for food is lengthy but they are very busy. The whole family, ranging from 10 years old, teenager, and 30+ years, had fun. My only complaints were the alcohol and lackluster ladies at the counter. I see no point in allowing drinking (which I am not against it most other situations) as the people I primarily saw there were parents with children. The few random single guys in the establishment were the ones drinking and they would leave their glasses on a nearby, barely supervised table because you cannot set a drink on the games. Maybe have an adults only night to make both sides feel more comfortable.

The game selection was amazing. The sandwiches were so yummy. The staff was friendly and very helpful. There is a cover charge of $4/adults, $2/children with monthly pass options as well, but the fee is small in comparison to the cost of the games, only 25 cents a play! It is my understanding that they were having some issues with people breaking these irreplacable machines and in an attempt to preserve their collection implemented the cover charge. Such actions seem reasonable and fair to me as some of these games seemed museum worthy, in my opinion. So, if the cover fee is an issue, Id suggest thinking of it more as a museum entry fee that opens the doors to the past and welcomes you to stroll down memory lane The experience is well worth the nominal fee!

Me and my husband completely understand the changes made to ensure some responsibility on the customers part. The first time me and my husband went there, we literally saw a 15 year old kid constantly rocking and shaking a vintage pinball game back and forth in frustration, nearly breaking the legs off of it..and that was within the first 5 minutes of us being there. I couldnt imagine how much abuse some of those games take, especially as a result of disrespectful teens. Before you leave a review in fury over the change, at least think about what youre doing.

I havent even been here yet. i see such amazing reviews so i am excited to try this place out. i also see a few negative reviews for a 4 dollar entry fee. i can honestly say that doesnt bother me one bit. i dont see the big deal. excited to try this arcade out!

Great place to go for fun with or without the kids. They have food and Beer/wine, so feel free to grab a pint and play some retro games.

Best date night in town! delicious sandwiches, and I dont even like sandwiches. But I look forward to getting their hot pastrami. Its out of this world. The atmosphere is super fun and throws you right back into your childhood. So if youre 30 or 40 something looking for a fun date night, go to grinkers you will not be disappointed.

Havent been to Grinkers in a while. The place has really expanded and they have so many classic arcade games that bring back fond memories. Theres an entry fee now (one day membership is $4). I know some have had issues with this. If you look at the quality of these games and how much it costs to maintain these classics, its worth it. Spent 4.5 hours there tonight and between the entry fee, $10 in quarters, a killer hot Pastrami 8 sub, and large coke, I spent about $24. Not too many places these days where you can spend that many hours of entertainment for less than $25.

Grinkers may have only lost a few customers after changing to a membership model if they had communicated professionally about the change. Instead, the owner has chosen to make their responses to questions and complaints rude, immature, and condescending, and they ban anyone who dares suggest anything negative about their business. My family has enjoyed this establishment in the past but if you are looking to spend your money here, maybe think twice about the kind of person you are giving your money to.
