The Eagle Plein Air Festival is a fantastic opportunity for plein air artists of every skill level. It is headquartered at Finer Frames Gallery in Eagle, Idaho. The Festival runs 7 days including a day for awards, sales and party. Each day has a theme, location or event for painters or you may choose to paint anywhere in a 50 mile radius. There are rivers, lakes, ponds, mountains, desert, urban and rural scenery in abundance to paint. This year (2020) there were 3 judged events for your entry fee. There was the main event, a nocturnal event and a quick draw event. Judging is by an acclaimed regional juror. This year was Lori McNee from Sun Valley, Idaho. A fabulous plein air artist in her own right. This was my 5th year of participation and I would highly recommend it to any plein air artist.I would add, in the year of the pandemic the Festival kept safety in the forefront of the event from start to finish.

The plein air festival was well organized and fun. The Eagle area provides great opportunities to paint a variety of subject matter. It was great to mingle and compare notes with other artists. I felt like the set up to display finished paintings worked well and helped to maintain social distancing. I would recommend this event to artists looking to challenge themselves in a positive, fun environment.

I love this Festival. I highly recommend it to artists of all skill levels. There are categories for oil, water and dry mediums. There are events scheduled every day which can really help an out of town artist stay connected. The administration for the Festival are hardworking and readily available for questions or assistance. There are also multiple opportunities for artists to sell their painting during the Festival and throughout the month as the paintings hang in Finer Frames Gallery. This is my third year competing and cant wait for next year.If you want to have a great painting experience check out next years Eagle Plein Air Festival.
