This place was so much fun! Due to Covid, they sold activity passes that were good for 3 1/2 hours. We went mid July and the weather was beautiful, with clouds. In the 3 1/2 hours, we went down the alpine slides 3 times, the mountain coaster 3 times, panned for gems, did the go-carts once and spent about an hour at the lake in canoes, on paddle boards, etc. The lines were pretty short. The mountains were beautiful. The place was clean and run efficiently. The employees were very nice and helpful.

Beautiful slopes during the summer. Watch your speed down the Alpine Slide, especially where the SLOW sign is posted. Wiping out is super painful! Note there are burn kits available at the first aid station (in the info center by the bathrooms).I also have to agree the ticket prices might be a little high for the number of rides you could actually squeeze into a day. Youre spending most of the day waiting in line (with no mask wearers and no social distancing observed/enforced).

We only had 4 hrs there but it was a blast. The lifts were magic. The scenery was majestic. The Alpine slides left me burnt (I fell off my slide doing 40 on turn 2) but I wouldnt have changed it... well maybe! I did get back on in mid roll. Loved the boating. The grounds could have been cleaner, and WOW the prices were through the roof, but try the coaster. Youll love it!

Went for an afternoon to ride the coaster and the Alpine slide with my son.I realized by reading the reviews that we would only be able to ride the rides a couple times due to the long wait times, so I decided to go on a Wednesday when there would be less people. Its true you will have to wait at least 30 to 45 minutes on line for the coaster, and then for the Alpine slide youll need to wait at least 45 minutes to over an hour. Its not because its crowded, it just takes a long time because only one or two riders can go at a time. I imagine it would be worse on the weekend. They are spraying down each car and sled after every use and employees are all wearing masks. That part is awesome. However, nobody is following the 6-foot rule while in line which IMO is just to be expected. The resort needs someone to come around and remind people to spread out. There are a lot of kids here so naturally they all tend to clump together and stay very close in line. By doing that one thing, the safety at the park would be exceptional. In any case, we had a great time. We road each ride once and did the gondola. No bike or water sports. We probably had enough time to do the coaster once more but decided to just call it a day.

We drove in from Durango to ride the alpine side and mountain rollercoaster. To save money and experience the most for our $ we bought the half day pass for each of us ($49 for 3 and $25 for our youngest) which included unlimited riding of the side and coaster, the scenic chair lift, go carts, paddle boats and a sluicing experience. We had so much fun riding the slide (2 times) and coaster (3 times) that we ran out of time in our 3.5 hour pass, but that was ok because we did the other 4 things and had a BLAST! The lines for the slide and coaster could get a little long, but they moved steadily and we feel like even though we did not have time to ride go carts or paddle boats, that we got our moneys worth even if it is a little spendy for the average family.

We purchased the afternoon session for summer activities. We were excited to go and do everything. When we got to Purg, there was very little signage or directions as to where to go. After finally figuring it out, we stood in line for over an hour to take the chair lift to do the Alpine Slide. It was absolute s*** show. Burning hot, no shade, disinterested employees. We finally made it to the top, only to have a broken sled. I literally had to push myself down the mountain. Then the coaster, which we paid an additional $15 for was broken! Zero communication from staff, so we stood in line for no reason. No refund was offered. Total bs. We basically paid $50 to ride a broken Alpine Slide sled. Waste of money!!! The resort massively oversold tickets, which led to unbearably long lines. Dont waste your money!!

Purgatory is a great ski resort that has plenty of activities for a summer visit too. Theres a very simple rollercoaster and a small scale luge you/kids can ride. Dont worry, there are little brakes you can use (really, they dont go very fast). In addition to riding the ski lifts, you can rent mountain bikes, swim in the pool, and walk or hike with your pets or kids on many trails. Theres also a great pizza place for lunch and dinner, and a good breakfast place next to it. Beware, the altitude can take some time to adjust to. The base is approximately 9,000 feet high (which is higher than Machu Picchu) and it can reach up about 11,000 feet. This is quite a bit of difference than Denver, for example.

Stumbled across the resort while in the Durango tourist info building. Well worth the trip. Did the scenic lift ($12 each) to the top, the alpine slide ($15 per run) and the Inferno coaster ($20 per run). Yep. Adds up. Wish it was clearer that it was the price per run. Never having done it, first run should be to get a feel. Price should be for two runs. Having said that, still a great, compact, resort.

Really wanted to like this place. We went during summer in July. The lines to the coaster and slide were terribly long, but both rides were pretty fun. Just wish we didnt have to spend so long to ride again. The tickets we bought came with canoe / kayak rentals. The lake was across the street appeared to not be part of the resort. The guy running the boats didnt have good control on what was going on. It might as well have been just boats on the shore and a free for all.

I have loved Purgatory summer activities in the past, but I would not recommend them this summer. Our experience at Purgatory was very frustrating to say the least. We paid $300 for our children to have a fun day while the dads rode their mountain bikes. The kids rode one ride and were brought down in a van after waiting another long ride for the alpine slide which temporarily closed due to a minute of rain. We are now in a 60 min line to ride the go carts in hopes that we can at least justify not paying $300 for our kids to do a single ride for the entire day. :( kids are crying. Very very frustrating.

Front desk staff was rude and not helpful, room was not clean when we arrived and we called to have housekeeping come (they came and cleaned while we were doing other activities, but this is especially anxiety-inducing during the COVID pandemic). The furniture would have been perfect had it not been worn out and falling apart (holes in the couch cushions, chairs that fell over from bad legs, etc.) Housekeeping did not come back once throughout the course of our 3 night stay (we didnt need anything, but were surprised they didnt at least make the bed, bring more soap, etc.). In theory a great place to stay (with all the amenities and features offered), but they seriously dropped the ball. Units need refreshing and management needs some help. ( even though on line the only stipulation was that you had to be under 250 lbs and you had to be 10 or older to ride alone, or you would have to ride with an adult.) my son is 6’ so I get it but it would have been nice to know that they were the kid ATV’s. We have all lost out during this pandemic, but how you take care of your customers says a lot about you.Beware: Purgatory responded to my post telling me to reach out to them via email.
