One of Durangos best music venues. Even though the place can seem small at first, its a great place to catch live music! They ha e two bars and they often show independent films. The staff is awesome and super friendly! If you have tickets for an upcoming show or are looking for a great place to spend a night out on the town, this is your spot.

Animas city theater is always a fun little venue to see shows in. Its great to have the main floor to get close to stage and also have the option to head up to the balcony. Great to have choice between the bar in the hall itself and then also have the bar in the entrance to get away from the crowd for a second.

Band was awesome. Terrible venue. Bad smell. Left before band finished because I got sick at my stomach. Within 5 minutes of leaving I was fine.

I like this theater because it shows different movies that make you think. Sometimes the movies are based on true events and can be disturbing instead of entertaining. But many times we need to be educated and informed about recent and historic events. There have also been totally entertaining recent movies like Blinded by the Light. Im glad we have this place in Durango to view independent films that dont often come to major theaters. And you can still walk in and pick a seat without looking at a computer screen before hand to pick your seat!

I love this place. Security is lax, the balcony is really nice. The people that come here are all really cool. Ive seen some really great shows here with my friends. Its conveniently located, and I have nothing but good things to say about this place. They are constantly bringing the talent through town and I appreciate them for maintaining the jam band and electronic scene in Durango.

Great place to see your favorite Bands, and many other types of entertainment. A beautiful building. Groups like Warsaw use this location as part of their tour of Colorado.

Edit: there is room for improvement in their ticketing system. Eventbrite is taking wayyy too much of a service charge. I went to a venue in Steamboat that used Brownpaper tickets and the fee was always half of eventboneAwesome jams, great lights and sounds, fun people

Watched the Linda Ronstadt bio movie, it was great and appreciate that we have the opportunity to get great movies to play at Animas City Theatre.

I saw ELI-MAC with theGreen and it was great. Sound was excellent. No weird ringing or reverberations from the building. Bartenders were fast and friendly. Great show I cant wait to go back and see more live music. Maybe next time Ill catch a film.

I love the people that work there!!! I have to add- The Roost now connects to the upper level!! This place will suprise you, still the most legit venue around! Eugene is absolutely the man! Tell Wilson you love him and you can get a hug!! From Circus to Rappers this is our own Durango Filmore. Show em some love!!

In terms of setting, this is an awesome venue between its layout and overall intimacy (I think capacity is around 250). It draws in decent crowds most of the time, the staff is great, and drinks are priced very reasonably. All in all, it is arguably the best spot in Durango to see live music.Some of the shows run late. I have been to at least 3 performances where the headliner began after midnight and most of the crowd had left by then. One performer ended his set about 30 minutes early on account of it being dead. Based on my experience and comments from other locals, I think that if all shows were scheduled to end at 12:30, more people would show up and stay.Great music comes through, but it is almost exclusively bluegrass, jam, and folk. Though I dont really indulge in all of these genres, I think that a more hip hop, electronic, rock, and metal would be welcomed by people in Durango.I also feel as though shows could be better advertised, you need to go to their website and click on specific calendar dates to find out whats playing most of the time. If the event page layout followed a similar template to that of Meow Wolf, Belly Up, or Red Rocks, I think it would be helpful in advertising and filling up shows.Definitely worth checking out.

Such a fun night here listening to local bands pay tribute to Tom Petty! Loved the intimate feel of the venue, and...what a bonus to have this local gem walking distance from my house!

Enjoyed the experience. Good sound. Only negative is the seats upstairs on the side dont have a full view of the stage.

This place is wonderful, Live Music at night and independent movies during the day.Every month they have a classic movie showingThe musical acts are usually Legendary artists at a very affordable price, usually never more than $10-35 a ticket.

They show Indie movies. The other theater shows big box movies. Popcorn is pretty good. If you like movies this is a good theater to go to!

Totally enjoyed the experience. This was my first visit to Animas City Theatre.

I only really go here when there are concerts with artists that I like, but the stage area is super cool, and the bar built in never feels crowded. Plus, right next door is Cuckoos, so if youre hungry after a bunch of dancing, you can go next door and get some wings!

I enjoyed my visit look forward to going back and enjoy more entertainment.

I like the ACT but they dont get many great shows through anymore! Limited to ska reggee and the other hippie genres. I miss the electronic shows!
