Kent County is known for its agricultural history, and the Delaware Agricultural Museum in Dover is where you can learn all about this history and the impression it has left on the local culture. Some of the items showcased in the exhibits at this museum include artifacts, photos, documents, and agricultural-related machinery such as tractors and traditional farming equipment. You’ll also learn about the railway and the role it played in the industry. There is a village depicting rural life in the late 1800s. This is where you can see an old barn, windmill, general store, farmhouse, schoolhouse, train station, church, barbershop, and blacksmith shop.

Nice little museum highlighting Delawares agricultural history. Run by caring people and volunteers. I was there for A Farmers Christmas, an annual event. If youre wanting bright, shiny and upscale, this isnt that type of place. But if youre interested in learning about the agricultural history of the state, this is a wonderful place to visit. The displays and facilities are carefully and thoughtfully maintained by dedicated staff and volunteers. This museum is small town America at best.

As a former city girl this museum taught me a lot. I just loved it. It was the chickens I could feed that won me over though. I plan on going back soon as soon as the weather gets warmer.

This place is great! There’s a lot of interesting farm exhibits inside and a wonderful model train exhibit that shows many of the local farms. Outside is a village you can walk through including a train station and RR tracks. We also love to visit the precious chickens and Lulu the pig (during the summer).

Nice place to go spend a Summer day to keep the kids occupied. There is not a lot of stuff they can touch and play with inside so depending on how young your kids are, it might not be ideal. My girls loved feeding the pig who is super social and calm. You also can actually go into the chickens little fenced in coop area and feed them as well. My daughter ended up with chicken poop all over her but it made for a nice laugh after her brief meltdown lol. The woman who was working there was SUPER nice. The school house bell is fun to ring for the kids too. They enjoy exploring the historic village outside.

We were greeted by Valerie who was very friendly and informative. She gave a plate of veggies to feed Lulu the pig and chickens. This is a great place for family of any age group. The gift shop had a variety of items and there is art for sale from a local artist. There is a small fee and you can use AAA for minor discount.

Give it a try. Its much bigger than it appears from the highway. Theres plenty for kids to do. They even have chickens you can feed & pet. Theres a room called the Touch of History if your child likes to play teacher or play cook in a kitchen. Little kids play for hours in this room. Also great for birthday parties. Plan on spending an hour or more visiting both indoor exhibit areas & the outdoor 1890s Village on Silver Lake. Come on in and visit, you wont be sorry. No one is ever disappointed! This is not a State run Museum so they need your support!
