First time at the museum, had a fantastic time. So much to see and learn. The Garrison house was my favorite. Great for any age. An absolute must see if you are in Dover!

Ive been here many times over the years, my latest excursion was for the middle school art show. My daughter had some pieces in it. This is a great spot to see the oldest house in New Hampshire, some unique ephemera and pieces from the area, as well as learning about the great local history. If you are at all interested in history this should be a stop for you.If you have absolutely no interest in history its still worth stopping in just for the experience.

I took my 7 year old son to the Woodman and we had a fantastic time! He loved the Polar Bear and the incredible bird collection. He also had a lot of questions about the weaponry from each war. The museum was packed with amazing artifacts and our guide, Paul was so knowledgeable. Even more, Paul was conscious of my 7 year olds short attention span and cattered the tour to keep him engaged. Paul was great! Im definitely going back soon and I look forward to the seeing the Woodman decorated for Christmas which I hear is beautiful!

My visit to the Woodman Museum was in 2017 during my stay with my son at Dover NH. Very impressive memories of the visit. Artifacts related to Lincoln, The Hale House related to the life and times of Lincoln and the Garrison House as old as more than 3 centuries old. The butterfly collection, the collection of shining stones and a lot more - very memorable. The curators were very highly cooperative and well informed in history. A quiet place to roam about and to feel the portals of the history of Dover and US as a whole.Subramanian A (Writer and Poet)Retired official of State Bank of IndiaPalakkad, Kerala, India.

Our grandsons love the many animals and especially the polar bear! But they also enjoyed all of the Native artifacts and the garrison house. The light show of gems was a big hit! Great place. Dover’s jewel.

Plan on spending the better part of a day looking at this amazing collection of historical items dating from the earliest days of our country to the recent past. Make sure you take the guided tour to get the maximum enjoyment from your visit. Also check out the last remaining garrison house in New Hampshire for a real take on life in the days of the French and Indian Wars.
