Wow! I fail to find the appropriate words to describe the beautiful riverside walk , and Hart Plaza premises. I consider this area of Detroit downtown the best place for a totally relaxed evening to be spent enjoying the hue of the setting sun and Blue waters....The whole area is well kept, clean and disciplined...I loved this place.for its pristine beauty.

Great place to walk along the riverfront with great views of Canada! You can watch boats pass by and read a book, there is no shortage of places to sit. The surface is very clean and the landscape is kept up. Too bad the fountain does not run :( also the parking is all underground and really convenient place to park your car at the center of the city. But if you are reading this and you have never been here, then you need to go see for yourself already!

I was downtown on Wednesday and had to walk to my destination and passed by Hart Plaza. This was once a great destination for people who worked downtown. Not anymore. Whats up with the bathrooms? None were open. This place was once a gem in Detroits skyline now its just an old relic in need of some serious repair. The once magnificent fountain has no water coming out guess its turned off. Its still a great view of downtown and the Canadian skyline.

Sad to say, this place really has potential. I think the layout is great and have real nice view of the city and the river but it seems like its not maintained at all. The fountain is not working and its dirty. In some parts its smells. I dont mean to offend anyone but its the truth or at least at the time I went there, which was last week.

I love this place I just wish they would up keep it better. Theres a lot of history within hart plaza and theyre not taking care of it. I use to be a part of a summer program Festival for the performing Arts in the 80s and during the African American festival wed perform all different kinds of arts and talent in the Big Circle area. Back then all events every weekend were free. They should bring the free festivals back! It was fun and lively then

I went in the winter so there wasnt really homeless people there but that explains the clothes aro6the broken fountain. I like the stargate though. I walked and read the path. It has great potential. I hope the city pays attention and repairs it. I think they are working their way there. Downtown is definitely coming around.

A big open plaza between the GM Renaissance Center and the convention center (Cobo). There are several interesting structures and monuments within this plaza that is located by the Detroit Riverwalk. When I visited, the fountain at the center of the plaza (Horace E. Dodge Fountain) looks like it has been out of commission for quite a while. Otherwise, the only reason to visit this plaza is to get a good shot at the GM Renaissance Center as the background for some of the structures found in this plaza.

I believe the monument in the middle of the plaza is a fountain. However, we did not see the water running, so I may be speculating. It was 40F and the gelid breeze coming from the Detroit river made the ambience very enjoyable but cold. The plaza has a bunch of monuments and I saw children walking up and down as well us families taking pictures around.I believe that on a summer day it is a blast to spend the afternoon walking around there.

Hart Plaza for Jazz Fest 2019! Enjoyed our time at the Jazz Fest this year. Spent time at HP watching performances, getting food, and hanging out. Safe, clean, friendly atmosphere with plenty of food and drink vendors. The downside being not enough seating for people looking to buy food from one of the food trucks and actually sit somewhere to eat it. Ive been coming to Hart plaza for many years and would not hesitate to come down as a family during the day or in the evening with adults. Lots of parking close by and large police presence.

Beautiful Day for a walk on the Riverfront!

Review №75

I have to give this Plaza 3 stars. Im shocked at all the 5 star reviews. This plaza needs maintenance. First of all, the sign is ugly and the clock is wrong half the year. The pavers are cracked and coming up. Kudos to the city for at least repairing the part near the stairs. The fountain hasnt worked in years. Many of the signs are cracked. There are a lot of homeless people gathered here especially where the ruins of the amphitheater are located. When festivals arent being held here, its mostly used by homeless people to sell drugs, office workers to access the river walk, and tourists to pop a wheelie on their bird scooters. They should really fill in the tunnels too. It does have a great view and so much potential. Id love to see a renovated Hart Plaza for Detroit.
