Incredible space with beautiful, timeless pieces. The history behind Pewabic is what makes it so unique.

Stopped in yesterday to take a peak at the beautiful new inventory and the wonderful new tiles dedicated to Detroit with the Old English D, tiles as well as ornaments. I inquired about classes and the staff was very helpful, taking time to print the information sheet because none were available at the desk and brought them over to me as I browsed.

One of my favorite places in the city. We go out there as much as able. We love to buy these amazing historic pieces. Our Christmas tree has 4 years worth of the traditional yearly ornaments. I love pewabic.

We saw tiles from this pottery company on and in many beautiful buildings in Detroit, so we decided to pay a visit to their shop. The shop itself is housed in what used to be a residence and is a beautiful building. There is also a workshop where tiles are made. There are displays of various tiles and there are tiles and other items for sale. We spent approximately 90 minutes here and enjoyed it visit. Lots of history here and worth a visit.

It was my first time coming to the gallery and museum. It was during their Spring exhibition and sale. The beauty and simplicity of the ceramic pieces is just outstanding.

Talking about beautiful. Pewabic is extraordinary craftsmanship. Many historic buildings were done by Pewabic. I love talking to the staff and learning new things. Nothing like a homemade gift.

The best part is walking in the back and witnessing the process of making their ware, art, and craft.

Was gifted a Pewabic pint glass and it is everything I have heard and better! Keeps my beverage cool longer, and is a nice conversation piece! Going to head to the store to see what else I can get!

Such a fun, interesting & educational staff - and what a stunning collection of original art. The history of the location, and of the art form, are fascinating. Be sure to look for Julie or Kim - or both. Their warm welcome and professional expertise will delight you. I came home with gorgeous Pewabic soup bowls - unique pieces of art to enjoy around the table. My first visit, but not my last!

Great pottery studio that adds historic value to Detroit and to this area of Detroit. Everyone is really nice and friendly, and they let you step back and see where they make their pottery. They can also cater to larger commercial design projects as well. The store is slightly pricey, but some of the artists are not too expensive.

Great place to buy a special gift that says Detroit. They have much more than just tile. A truly historic gem that is always worth a visit. They have plenty of convenient and free parking whether you arrive by car or bike.

We are in Detroit for a few days on summer vacation with our 4 children. My husband, an architect, was excited to visit the company that he has used many times in projects under his mentor and has continued to recommend and design with in his own practice. The building is beautiful, the pottery is so classic and warm, the young girls at the counter, not so much!Though they did give us a good chuckle about the parallels between them and his old boss Alan!!

The studio space is amazing with beautiful glazes but the pretentious vibe completely ruined the experience of taking classes there. On top of that, it takes a long time to get your pieces fired because they give priority to the professional potters. Great place to shop but Id go elsewhere for classes.

I am all for supporting artisans, particularly Detroit-based craftspeople. But I am all for good customer service as well, and at Pewabic apparently you cant have both. While in the store in Sept. I left my name and number and asked for a call when a $100 tile I wanted to give as a Christmas gift was in (they were out of stock). Weeks later I popped into the store only to be told that the 20 that were made had been bought by the Detroit Zoo and my name and number had been lost in the shuffle. I left my information with them again and called a couple weeks later; the person to whom I spoke had no idea who I was and no record of my TWO requests for the tile, so I paid for it over the phone ($106) and was told that the tile would be ready in plenty of time for Christmas. During EACH OF SIX ensuing phone calls I was placed on hold for extended periods because no one could find a record of my purchase without consulting others before promising to call me back, promising the tile would be ready. At one point I was told that they would fire three tiles and that I should call the W before Christmas to be sure at least one survived the kiln. When I spoke to a representative on W, she said that they never fire just three tiles and the employee who said they would was new and just trying to please you. Well, I was NOT pleased to learn that I was being lied to and strung along to placate me in the short-term and ruin a Christmas surprise--and my opinion of this business--in the long term. There is no clear chain of command, no effective records system and no internal communication in this business. I will continue to enjoy the Pewabic tiles in my home but I will not add any others to my collection.

If youre looking for some unique and very local works of art then stop by the Pewabic store, museum, and workshops. I really enjoyed seeing the wide variety of works from various artists that work on site. A 45-minute tour is offered pretty regularly and a museum is located upstairs.I should note the prices are a bit high so budget for something nice. Also, its not possible reach it without a car.

One of the true gems of Detroit. Theyre 100+ years old and responsible for just about all of the beautiful tile mosaics in the metro area and elsewhere too. Theres a reason that real estate ads make a point of mentioning Pewabic tile when a house has it. If I had the money, Id have them do my entire NYC kitchen and bathroom.

Came by for the Celtic weekend event, very kind people that showed us the facilities and were emotionally supportive when my friend dropped/broke a lid. Upstair is a very small gallery space, with mead/wine and fruit/cheese for this event.I hope to come back for the Friday $45 wine and throwing wheel lesson!
