Ive only been here as a customer so I dont know what its like to rent a studio. The studios seem nice and are good displays of the resident artist. They have a gallery walk once a month which sounds cool. That said, the building is fairly dusty and not cleaned often.

Great collection of artists! I visited Jen Lawler Designs. She makes incredible pieces of custom jewelry, as well as a multitude of pieces you can choose from and take home immediately. The entire building hosts an open house the first Friday of every month from 5pm-8pm.

Very nice and comfortable atmosphere. Very friendly service. Asked lots of questions to be able to get the look your looking for

Had a great time at Mainframes First Friday event! They have amazing artists working their craft and plenty of pieces for sale as well. We really enjoyed JJ Gaffers and their glass blowing demonstrations! Lots of great gift ideas too!

Mainframe Studios is one of Des Moines best kept secrets.Artists of All kinds are neatly displayed in their own private spaces, often with examples of their work displayed just outside.These artists are some of the Very best that Iowa has to offer.If you are an artist or a buyer of art there is something for everyone here and a Must see, especially on Friday nights.

What a fantastic artist location!! They have glass blowers, painters, potters and more!! The first Friday of the month they have open house and you can tour almost all the studios.The glass blower has a seating space so you can watch them work and you can get quick portraits drawn in some studios.Recommend for supporting local art!!

Wonderful venue for artists and musicians to express and expose their talents... Downside ; limited parking for large crowds... However thetes ample parking within easy and short walking distances.

What a great concept to give artists a place to be creative. It is an inspiration just to see the vast spectrum of art being represented in this establishment. If you are a fan of artistic expression it behooves you to patronize and/or support these artists as they are taking a big step in branching out to their own studio.

Expansive and welcoming with a diversity of tenants and events open to the public.

Cool local space that has a diverse range of talent inside. My personal favorite is KMFG (98.9FM), a local Des Moines radio station that has amazing shows and is bound to play something you havent heard before.I havent had a chance to see all the other places inside, but will be making that a must do for 2019!

So amazing! From the glass blowers to the dancers to the printers, so much talent in one building. If you need a one of a kind gift, lessons, craft help, or local talent, Mainframe is your place. Check out the first Friday Open houses. Go early, parking gets full close to the building.

Lots of great exhibits of very good local artists. The visit will be memorable. Many shops are not open to the puplic regularly. How ever they host many events throught out the month. At that time, the public can venture throughout building and make some great purchases of very unique creations.

Mainframe Studios is amazing! Love the First Friday events where the artists and crafters open up their studios top meet and greet and check out (and purchase) their work. Such a great experience with everything from glass blowing, painters, jewlers, photographers, print making, fabrics, gaming, to ceramics, etc...

Very cool place to visit and the owners have such great stories about the rocks. Beautiful artwork as well. Great inlays on some specimens.

Our photographer is Michelle Lovell and her studio is in the mainframe building. She...is...AMAZING as a photographer and her personality is excellent, you can tell she cares. All of the artist studios in Mainframe look nice.

Diverse types of art. Glass blowing and printing press demonstrations. Loved interacting with the artists who were onsite to learn more about their styles and media.

This is a great place to see and purchase the work of local artists and some even offer teaching. First Friday of the month is open house from 6-8pm.

Great experience, excellent artists and artisans there displaying their work. Very large variety and food and alcohol for sale.

We are so excited about the opening of mainframe, while there were just a few artists that had begun to move in during our recent visit, the studios are assigned and many more to come. Close your eyes and one can only imagine the opportunities for community events, networking , and the synergy created.

I attended a Zentangle workshop in the Light the Earth studio on the first floor. This place is pretty amazing!
