Great place to fish. Had a lot of fun today. The park is well kept and beautiful. Lots of fish, bluegill, channel catfish, and bass. The trails are well maintained and free of garbage. Would rate higher than 5 star if it was possible!

Usually always a nice place to go for a calm and chill walk with the Family or the Fur-babies. Lol. Especially if you get there right before sunset. Its always fun to take pictures of the sunset and get the mirror image reflecting off the water!

I Have been to baby showers, and Graduation parties. Both were good times great lake also, maybe you like to sneak off from the party, and try for a few bites instead while no one is looking. ;) either way great park tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of the city life.

What a hidden gem! Absolutely breathtaking and secluded. Plan to spend a lot more time visiting.

I personally love Fort Des Moines Park, it offers everything you would expect in a park. There are nice big fields, they provide grills and a number of pavilions, one even has a fireplace like grill under the pavilion. Not to mention the couple miles of mostly paved walking/biking trails. They even offer boat access to the lake as well as a couple floating docks. And like every good park needs they have a play place for children and at least 4 strategically placed non-unisex restrooms.

It was great! Lots of trees and water. But, unfortunately, no purple marlins at the moment.

A lovely park, well maintained and popular with local dog owners. There is a pond for fishing and small boats with trails along most of the bank as well as through other parts of the park. Theres an outdoor classroom and an arboretum. There are 3 large picnic shelters, 2 with electricity and water. Each shelter is near accessable bathrooms, and one is next to a nice playground. Most of the hiking trails are hard paved (concrete). There is some ice fishing on the pond, weather permitting.

Gets nicer every year, grounds personal do a great job...cant wait for the fishing to get better.

Its nice well maintained park in middle of the city.

They have recently renovated this park. It now has nice walking paths all the way around the lake. Lots of wild life. Today I even saw a hummingbird hanging around as well as a whole bunch of cardinals, and without a doubt ducks and geese. Lots of shady picknick tables and shelters to rent.

There should beautiful flowers planted, it would look more beautiful because this park is fun to walk around and the view is so beautiful

This has Been my favorite Park to grill out go for walks with my dog take my Grandchildren to play fish and spend quality time with my love for 14 years.When My husband and I first started going there our black toy poodle Lucky (A Puppy at the time) decided to chase the geese and when they went into the water he followed right behind. Shocked the heck out of him. The look on his face was priceless. (LOL) . Highly Recommend This Park for Family Fun !!!This is Our Adventuresome Lil Lucky.He Will Be 15 on November 18th. I Love This Lil Guy With All My Heart.

Fort Des Moines park is so nice and quiet, there is endless green grass surrounding small ponds. They have several shelters to set and eat your lunch, trails to walk and admire nature and a playground for the smaller kids.

Kids love the park. The wildlife and the trails. Good family fun. With sand volleyball, kids play ground and fishing.

I enjoyed the convenience of the park and the lake was beautiful. My only complaint is that I wish more of the trails were interconnected with each other.

We always enjoy walking through and coming to fish for a little while. We also live the swing near the lake, its also a favorite to do while we are there enjoying the weather!

Peaceful and very much like old times

Serene secluded haven for private picnic. It a tucked away place that not very busy. It doesnt have bike trails or anything grand like Grays Lake which is ok if you not a big fan of all the busy people flying by you every second. You cant see it if you drive by park entrance which makes the park inside quiet and serene from traffic. True nature lovers would enjoy it. There is a playground for kids close to bathrooms and parking lot. There very limited places to bbq or shelters but as stated it for those that love nature. There is boat ramp and everything spread out so it relaxing and quiet.

Lovely spot on the Southside of Des Moines to get out for some fresh air and photography walks. The trail around the lake is beautiful, with several bridges to feast your eyes upon while walking.Come catch a sunset here! You wont be disappointed.

We love going here. From the updates to the lake to the playground that the kids love, it is an enjoyable spot to take the family. The kids refer to it as baby deer park because we always seem to see deer while at the park.

Very nice place for a walk. If you fish a nice pond but there usually are mNy others out there as well. Places for kids to bbn play and have shelters for picnics that are very clean

One of my favorites on the south side. Remodeled and recently renovated. Clean. Has a place that describes native trees in our area.

Nice loop trail system. There are a few restrooms located through out. There is a good size playground, and a few pavilions. You can walk the loop around the pond in about 30 mins.

This is a hidden gem in Des Moines. Its modern and updated with paved paths, running water, handicap accessible bathrooms, and beautiful picnic shelters. Its a small but mighty park that can easily entertain a family for the afternoon or comfortably hold a reunion gathering.
