Used to love this place, i wish the main floor was like it used to be friday and Saturday night open to dancing all night or at least 11 to close.

Great atmosphere, EVERYONE is friendly and like family. Great staff. Make sure to see the shows.

Open and welcoming, most accepting LGBTQ hangout in the entire city. Highly recommended whether you are part of the community or a supporter. And the shows are amazing! Im here pretty much every Thursday to watch.

I love this place. I go there with my wife all the time and we always enjoy the shows. Wish they werent off putting towards the people under 21. If you allow them in dont say they are babies every 10 seconds but other then that its friendly and clean with great music and an amazing atmosphere.

The Garden Nightclub remains an entertaining place to go. I know Des Moines only has two but what groups these two cater to, they do it well. I have never had a bad night when I go here. I have held events here and Jason is great to work with. I know that this place will be a staple of the community for years to come.

Always a fun time! And if you ever get a chance to see a Kata Klysmic production there GO! So many talented performers. Drinks are reasonably priced. Staff is great.

When walking in here I felt a little skeptical as the place was very dark, and I usually prefer a well lit, bright feeling atmosphere. However upon entering the door hosts were so very pleasant. As we continued to go into the club we made it to a very spacious room filled with dance floors and fun lighting to have a good night with. The bartenders were attentive and polite. I absolutely loved spending my evening here and will be back the next time Im in the area!

Great club vibe! Love going here on busy nights. It’s setup is perfect! The owners and staff are friendly. Great patio area. The dance area was a little weird setup for my vibe. I think they should move the tables and chairs after the show for people to have an actual dance setup. It’s not really that busy that often. Plus, there’s a cover and the drinks are weak.

I was clueless. Then figured it out when approached. Im Not Gay not that theres anything wrong with it. 2 strong drinks and was use to Vegas shows and did enjoy what I saw but to many close encounters I think my friends played a joke on me.Its been 40 years that I been in a club like this . Still in all had a great time .

Im straight and had a lot more fun there than the other clubs. Went with my gay brother. Will never forget that night. Had my first ever dance battle.

The Time Burton Burlesque Show was freaking amazing! It was wonderful and you could tell the performers put such hard work in to their acts. The vibe of the place was awesome, inclusive and welcoming/relaxing and the performers were so NICE!

So much fun! Drink prices were average for Des Moines. Clean bar, clean restroom. The music was a little bit of everything from country, rock, rap, oldies remixed. Fun dancing music! And it must be the place to go for your bachelorette party. There were 2 other bachelorette parties besides our group. Lots of fun!

Great place to see some amazing drag shows on the weekend!

The amount of people vaping and smoking cigarettes indoors during Pride tonight was atrocious. Not only could I. Surely breathe, when I alerted staff to the issue they told me to keep moving and stop causing issues or I was out. We grabbed our friends and dumped our drinks and left. We won’t be coming back ever and nor will we be recommending this place to our friends coming down later. Absolutely unacceptable to be treated by staff in that manner. Horrible bar and horrible smelling atmosphere. Shame on the owners for not hiring better staff that respect patrons.

Fabulous drag show and great place to hang out with friends

Great for gays and straight. Wonderful drag shows, always a welcoming crowd. A lot of effort goes into making the place appear well kept and friendly for the holiday / Christmas season wreaths and garland were hung all throughout. guest entertainers always do a good job or representing themselves.

The only unpleasant experience was the gentleman at the counter just inside the door . We had a large bachelorette party and he was rude on the way in (insulted the party organizer in front of a crowd saying she couldnt do math) and rude on the way out (we lost money in the photo booth and he rudely exclaimed its not his job nor his problem). Otherwise, once past the doors, a very fun place to be with multiple rooms... made it feel like walking into another room was walking into another bar (club/dancing scene, performance room with stage, and Bar).

I would prefer it if someone from the garden who’s a member of management got ahold of me. I have two ways they can do it, Kenneth Janeway is my Facebook page or if someone wants to send me a message asking for my number to call that too would be nice

This is a cool bar. There is was a cover fee but it was worth the price. Dancing, shows, and a nice patio are all great attractions. I recommend this bar for all people.

Had a really fun time!

The venue was really cool and clean. They had amazing decorations up for Halloween. The staff were really friendly. The drinks were a bit overpriced. The Saturday night show was strange in that only half the performers were in drag. The people not in drag wore costumes and lip synced.After the show ended the dance floor was opened. Only about 10 people were on the dance floor. Everyone else was watching from above or out on the patio. I was sad that the dance scene wasnt that strong. The DJ was really good and the wall subwoofer was amazing.

A good local bar option for dancing, drag shows and general good times.

First time here. Smaller and more oddly shaped than I thought itd be. Service was good but the drinks were a little pricey for what you get. Not a bad place though.

This isnt a nightclub this place is home, these people are family. Best all around good time bar! Halloween and New Years Eve parties are the tops!

Bar service is slow, fairly priced drinks, not necessarily a place to go dancing. The dj spins are garbage: the tempo was all over the place and kinda ruined the atmosphere. The floor would go from full to empty— that happens when you go from Top 40 to Annie Lennox.

Not too shabby of a place. Some of the coat check people were extremely rude to my brother as we were trying to leave. If you’re looking for a fun time to get on the dance floor this is the place.

One of the best clubs to go to if you want to dance or be entertained. The cover fees can be pretty high, but the drink prices are pretty uniform and the atmosphere is great!

The Garden is a magical place. You wont be disappointed.

Bartender was rude & dont know how to make a cocktail to save his life. One of the owners just sat drinking with his attention only on his phone. As a former titleholder of this bar, I am completely embarassed to be associated with this bar. New ownership has driven this bar down.

Spacious club with 2 dance floors, multiple stages, multiple bars, patio, and strong drinks. As with any popular bar bathrooms and popular walkways get crowded.

Im going to give the 5 star to make up for the two star review that I saw. No where did I see or mention that this was a gay bar/nightclub.Complaining about a cover charge and complaining over small issues is meaningless. Considering that the rest of the reviews where positive experiences, dont let his negative view on this place of business sway your decision to go and have fun.

Its a nice place for the weekend, they have a great show.

Bartenders were super nice and music was going ok. DJ turned out to be super rude and acted above us. Refused to take requests and scoffed when we requested music that wasnt current. We are from out of town and will seriously reconsider whether or not to go back here, or come back to Des Moines for anything GLBT related.
