After a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears from the amazing founders and players, the Grafenberg is now in full swing and doing amazing shows for the community. The theater offers high level improv classes that are a blast to be a part of, and the show programming will have you laughing for days afterward.LONG LIVE GRAFENBERG!

The performers in the Grafenberg community are all extremely talented, and the shows are very funny. My poor review comes from the problematic behaviors of the owners and management of this institution. The management of this theater holds EXTREME personal vendettas that come at the expense of the students and growth of the community. So be aware, that this is less of a comedy theater/education program and more of an extension of whatever the owner is feeling at any given moment in time. The owner of this theater fabricated a harassment claim from two of his own students against me, for dating someone he had feelings for, and when that blew up in his face, he banned me for from supposedly slandering the theater (which was not true). The official verbiage in notification I received was that the owner did not feel comfortable” with me at the theater without any further explanation. Not sure about any business that bans people for openly criticizing them, but I guess thats what passes for slander over there. The person also received a ban with little to no explanation. The theater claims to support an inclusive environment, but the actions of the management and ownership fail to meet this criteria. Hopefully, they can figure it out and learn to build bridges in the comedy community, rather than burn them down at the expense of the very community helping the theater grow and thrive. I would be more than happy to discuss these issues with management and ownership in an attempt to reconcile and find a path forward, but the behavior of the owner seems to be directly in the way of that ever happening. It is very unfortunate, as I loved that place. Onward and upward.

What a great venue. Theres a very open ethos from the management that allows for a very diverse range of styles of performance. The support and opportunities given to groups to perform here is a real benefit to the larger Denver improv community.

I went to the Grafenberg Theater during a vacation to Denver and had a blast! Definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

I got banned from this theater minding my own business as an audience member. Went to see a show last week - didnt interact much with anyone while I was there - and then received an email from the ownership the next day saying I wasnt allowed in the space, but they offered to meet with me to discuss it. I suspect I was banned for reasons related to my speaking critically of the theater 3 months ago for banning my boyfriend from the theater for what appeared to be a vindictive move from the owner who had propositioned me romantically around the time I started dating my current partner. However, if this were the case, Im not sure why I wouldnt have heard of the ban 3 months ago...so now it seems out of the blue and for no reason other than I showed up at the theater at all and the owner didnt like it? The primary owner seems to have a personal grudge against my boyfriend and now myself. When I spoke out against the ban against myself, they rescinded their offer to meet “until this behavior stops” (which I interpret to mean until I stop voicing negative opinions of their business based on my experiences). I wish I could comment on the quality of shows and classes, but Im not allowed to experience them.

This place is doing fantastic work. If you want to see people that are passionate about their work and have some laughs, this place is right up your alley. Its also fantastic that they have their new space at Backstage at Beryls. There isnt much better than having a great craft beer and laughing until you cry.

This place is perfect for anyone looking to start, or hone, your improv skills. The classes are fun and engaging, with plenty of time to practice on stage. The instructors are knowledgeable and great at helping every level improviser improve their game. The community is full of wonderful, and talented people with whom you will bond and form lasting friendships. Its pretty fricking cool and you should check it out!

I chose to try an improv class, to get more comfortable in front of groups of people. What I have discovered went way beyond that. If you like to laugh for hours at a time, and be part of a group that does the same. Then classes with Justin are where you need to be. Your face will hurt from smiling when class is over.

Unorganized, poor communication, and not worth the chase to find them and get clear communication. The class I attended before I moved was fair, at best.

I sincerely LOVE the improv classes! The instructors have a ton of experience, are awesome to work with and you will have a BLAST while learning the ropes of improv. Classes are at Comedy RoomRoom downtown. AND you actually get to strut the stuff you learned on stage at the Deer Pile in Cap Hill. You feel like a part of an improv family. Worth all the bucks, which is also an amazing deal. Highly recommend it!

Great classes and great people! The shows are in the basement of a universalist church - so it definitely adds to the experience. They share their space with all kinds of musicians, artists, and the Black Actors Guild! The improv is top notch, maybe even the best improv in Denver! I would definitely recommend this as a great place to take a date or just get a group of friends together for a few good laughs.
