Really good to see this place back up after the whole Oakland bust some years ago. Not sure whats up with the foil on the ceiling but Im sure itll be badass in the winter.

John Gross is the man. After the great DIY live/work purge of 2016 he actually took the time and effort to rebuild the space to bring it up to code and continue hosting noise shows and fests. What a true gem.

Local DIY classic, though their resurrection post Oakland fire is a tad annoying: What kept me coming for years was the donation based shows that went on multiple times weekly. I always donated, enough that former residents would insist sometimes that I didnt have to some nights. Now cover is now a regular 10 to 15 for bands that arent even charging so much for their merch. The incentive to support the place isnt as big a draw as such. The rent in the area is only going up, so I get it but its only inevitable that Rhino flatlines again when theyre hemorrhaging you at the front doors.

Super hot with no fans or AC. Person running the door at this show didnt charge a cover then asked for the full $10 at the very end of the show.

One of my favorite venues to play AND listen, always an amazing experience.

Dont ever pay cover to an event space that had never used cover to repair the code violations and physical hazards. Its just profit for a graveyard waiting to happen. Since they got busted, only now through fundraising theyve been repairing the building. Why wasnt it repaired before is beyond reasoning. At least no one died in this death trap. I cant believe people were allowed to live in a non-zoned unit with no heat during our worst winter moments. Retarded. No wonder Channel 7 was outside mocking the situation. Its hella bad. Im waiting for the repairs before I go back for another review.
