We visited the museum last year and spent hours enjoying the fantastic art collections, having lunch at Palettes, and being enriched by what we experienced. There is so much to see and do. What stood out for me are the western art collections- the traditional older art like the Remingtons and Russels and the contemporary art. The collection of Spanish Colonial art is inspiring. European masters are well represented and the contemporary collections in the new building are not be missed. There are portions of each floor set apart for learning and digging deeper into the collections and eras represented, with books, videos, magazines and all sorts of other modes of discovery. One can easily spend a few days here.

Going to the Denver art Museum has changed how I look at art forever. I now have a real appreciation for art. It is fascinating how much detail goes into some if the older paintings. Nothing a digital photo can ever capture. Every single detail is focused on as if you were actually there looking with your own eyes. I highly recommend going especially for the Berger collection. If you appreciate beauty in the world this will be life changing. (Even if you think art is boring-this collection is awe inspiring)

I loved my time at the Denver Art Museum! We were really lucky to get tickets to see Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera’s exhibit. Were were even luckier to have our ticked spared the cut as our state has moved into a more severe COVID situation. We were happy to take every necessary precaution and even wore face shields as we admired the powerful and touching pieces by both these amazing people. Their work speaks volumes to the tremendous significance of the era and the culture. Frits Kahlo’s work transcends time. Her deeply personal works are painful and beautiful poetry-in-paint.The Denver Art Museum took all the necessary measures to ensure that those who entered were as safe as they could be. They only allowed a handful of people into the gallery at a time and they made sure that nothing was touched. Things that do normally get touched were being wiped down and sanitized multiple times even in the short period of time we were there.Thank you for being a stand-out facility, a beautiful museum. Thank you for bringing the invaluable opportunity for one to stand in front of masters of art, story tellers of life, love, pain and loss; the purest inspiration of imagination- all brought through art to the city of Denver!I look forward to returning again and again!

It was not crowded, but the exhibitions were modest. I enjoyed the Rockwell exhibition, but I have seen a lot of his illustrations before. It was interesting to see his war paintings. The interpretations of the four freedoms by more contamporary artists was very telling also. The exhibition of Homer and Remington focused on war paintings as well, which made me think that the curators were coordinating these two exhibitions in order to focus on conflict and death.

I enjoyed my visit to the DAM but for one thing. The clerks were curteous and helpful. The staff within the museum were informative and helpful however, I am handicapped and as a result I require to have to sit for a short time. I know its an inconvenience in this day of Covid BUT I desperately needed a place to sit during the tour of Diego and Kalo Exhibit and THERE WAS NONE. As a result I had to sort of rush thru or collapse in a heap on the floor. Isnt there a way to accomodate people like me? Thank you for allowing me to voice my request.

Fantastic art museum with some very important messages and pieces. The Norman Rockwell through the years exhibit was breathtaking and had an amazing civil rights section at the end. Make sure you look everywhere, because they have some really awesome art pieces hidden (underneath the stairs, on the walls behind you, around corners you wouldn’t expect, etc) Everything was sanitized (the doors even do it automatically) and social distancing was followed very well. Timed tickets were required, so take that into account, but we only had to wait 15 minutes so don’t let that turn you away!

I’ve now been here twice and generally, really loved it. They have two temporary exhibits right now: Rockwell is one and a Homer and Remington exhibit is the other. Both are incredible. However, the rest of the museum is a bit too contemporary for my taste. I’ve tried to engage with the content but some just seems absurdist more than artistic. Do not waste your money or time. The building with the Native American art and artifacts is completely closed down. The other building is a modern looking building and very spacious with 4 floors but onlya few exhibits. Top two floors have a light show and a few items on display. The best part is a nice British Art display that occupies a small area. Gift shop is closed but a temporary one is open. Adding salt to the wound is that there is no mention on their website of the building closing and minimal displays. Ive been to museums throughout the country and, for now, this is one of the worst. I love the museum but right now its not worth going. Not just because its still only one building with a few displays for the same price as it was when it was opened, but because of the restrictions. I understand with the pandemic its hard to clean a lot of space for safety, but there is no where to sit or have some water. I went for the Frida Kahlo + Mexican Modernism exhibit. It was good and Im glad I went. I did learn a little bit about Frida. But I was disappointed that the exhibit included nothing about Frida being queer! She and Diego (her husband) also cheated on each other often. And Frida openly identified as bisexual and had a female partner while she lived in France. This oversight means the exhibit is only a partially true representation of Frida. She was a communist, bisexual, polyamorous, anti-capitalist, feminist.
