Back when I used to live in this neighborhood, this was a trash dump. The local park service cleared it out and blocked the drainage so it returned to being a fen. They built a boardwalk through it. Theres something particularly satisfying about seeing an area people have screwed up returned to nature. Cant wait to see it in the spring!

Small but really interesting place. The boardwalk is well maintained with benches placed at nice lookout spots. Dont miss the nature trail! It loops around right from the parking lot.

Interesting nature area with easily accessible boardwalk, a trail around the entire site. Habitat for seeing birds, a variety of wildflowers and other plants. No difficulty walking the boardwalk but youll want shoes that tie for walking the trail- some lovely, dark, oozing muck characteristic of fens. I love this place for birdwatching.

Really beautiful, however its so secluded that its a little scary if youre by yourself. Especially since theres evidence of people being back there probably not up to their best behaviors. Id come back, but as Im a female probably not alone.

A very nice little wooded area in the middle of an urban area. The boardwalk is very nice but fairly short. The longer path around the outside is mostly dirt and can be muddy in places.

This is a nice little park tucked back in a neighborhood. The boardwalk is quite short but is great for anyone who cannot walk long distances or has mobility issues. The nature trail is messy but enjoyable (this is a wetland area). Wear old shoes and bug spray. This is a great place for bird watching.

This nice little nature area is tucked away in a neighborhood. I never even realized it was here. There is only one boardwalk trail and another trail that stays muddy most of the year, but this is the perfect place to see some hidden wildlife.

This is a beautiful park with a raised boardwalk through the center and an ground-level path around the outside. We once saw a herd of deer! It really is a little nature haven. Please be respectful of thepreserve and stay on the path. Also please pick up after your dogs... they provide free bags.

Went on the loop trail May 13. Its damp, at best, muddy in some places. Many parts werent kept up. I got diverted by what looked like the trail, but wasnt, and tracked though 3 of mud for about 40 yards. Judging by all the footprints in the mud, I wasnt the only one. When I made my way to the boardwalk, there was dog poop all over it. The boardwalk is nice. One of the signs has been taken down or vandalized.

Woodman Fen is an artificial wetland. Theres a boardwalk that goes into the center of the wetlands and a nature trail that goes around the perimeter of the artificial wetlands, parts are very muddy. I really like coming here and just listen to the birds. Its a very relaxing place. There are summer and winter hours. During the summer the Fen closes at 10 pm.

I Come for the orchids, flying squirrels and strangely enough, the smell of fresh air.It is amazing; a diamond in the Woodman rough.I suggest that you leave everything that was already there and nothing that wasnt. Keep the Fen amazing for the sake of this disrespected and dwindling class of ecosystem.

This park is one of the more primitive areas of the MetroParks in Montgomery County, Ohio. It is a restored fen, the acidic counterpart to the more familiar (and alkaline) swamp. A raised wooden deck takes you into a portion of the interior. A dirt trail takes you around the exterior boundry of the fen. There are no toilets or water fountains on the grounds. Parking is on a gravel area that could accommodate 6 cars. For me, its relative unpopularity is its biggest draw. For a quiet, contemplative walk in solitude it is the perfect place.
