We were very impressed with the museum. They had a short video of the history and they have a museum that shows what items they used to live. The outside shows a living history of how they lived. Great place for kids to learn ancient history.

Im very interested in Sun Watch Villiage , the Mound Museum and the location in Orgonia, Ohio ! The lockdown has put the BRAKES on everything across the board !Well i guess ill try collecting old coins and key sports cards as ive been on the internet six years now and havent earned enough to buy even one half a tank of gas at 1.99 per gallon .Ive crossed many describable topics with so many widespread areas of INTEREST i dont see how it could be conceivably possible ! My profile and data speaks for itself minus what is entirely changed with Artificial Intelligience ! I think after i summarize everything ive read , we as the HUMAN RACE have taken steps backwards with a majority of beings in society !This girl looks like a Rogers Angelina profile that contacted me on Facebook turning into absolutely nothing positive on the charts rising due north !

Disappointing. The museum inside was okay, takes about 15 mintues to read everything. Not much to see outside, the buildings look rundown. It wouldnt take much to make the village come alive, maybe some interest from a college or HS group who would volunteer to fix things up. The black rubber walkways are impossible for wheelchairs or walkers. not worth the price of admission.

Im sure if more folks would go here, there would be more that can be done to enhance this place. Although it certainly is smaller than I expected, you do get to see authentic exhibits and the gift shop has some really cool stuff. Definitely will try and keep track of anything new coming up for future visits.

A historical society lived there in the 1800 . In Ohio, Dayton. They lived out their primitive lifestyle As well as could be expected. On the land that they only had. Their remains were found during the 60s and then were preserved with proven existence before the State of Ohio was To use the areas for the water treatment plant that was To be made UP on that portion of the Earth yet, it was reconsidered to be restored to the museum As it stands today, in remembrance of the Sun watchers tribe.

This is a very nice place to learn about some of the local Native American culture that lived here 800 years ago. There is a very nice Visitor Center with a good informative video and gift shop. The grounds where the original village are is nice. Unfortunately, the museum is not getting as much funding as is needed so some of the reconstructed buildings need repair. However, the village is still very worth visiting. I think wheelchair access to the village would be hard because the paths are not designed for them. Sun watch is definitely worth visiting.

I think this destination is most valuable if you do a little advance reading on Native American history in North America. Id been doing just that when I visited, so I really enjoyed the site itself much more than the interpretive material, which seemed a little superficial. The movie tells about the archeological discovery of the site and shows photos from the dig, which makes for interesting local history. Its worth visiting to get a sense of pre European American history and culture in the region.

My daughter and I found the museum very interesting. It isnt very big. We saw and read pretty much everything in about two hours. The informational signs outside are very faded and some are covered in moss making them impossible to read. The information in the inside portion of the museum is very well done. Make sure you watch the 10 minute movie to give you a background on everything else.

Amazing site, educational, great experience, staff was awesome and answered questions.Other guests (2 mothers and 4 kids) kid were destructive, rude, climbing all over stuff, breaking stuff, being utterly disrespectful while moms were not watching their kids and talking about whatever. If you go here please watch your children and teach them to be respectful.

The village outside is underwhelming and not well maintained. The signage within the village is almost entirely illegible from fading, so its hard to get much of a sense for the history of the place. Kind of looks abandoned. There is a very cool, large diorama in the little museum inside though. Id suggest taking a look at that (which might be free or at least cheaper than touring the village), but skipping the village - its kind of pricey and you really dont learn much. The docent was very kind, though.

I think the idea is great and the history of this site is fascinating. Unfortunately, I am assuming from a lack of funding this location needs a major overhaul. As other reviewers have mentioned a lot of the signs outside are unreadable due to fading. There really isnt anything interactive for children. There was about 3 buildings outside you can go in.I watched the movie, read everything indoors and out within an hour.

Sun Watch Indian Village is the most thoroughly excavated village attributed to the Ft Ancient culture from 1000 to 1750 CE. The village structure was a pattern of concentric circles. These native Americans were familiar with the stars and planted and harvested appropriately based on this knowledge. Their pottery was excellently made and decorated. Due to their location near the Miami River trade and interaction with others was possible. A majority of the diet was corn based. Unfortunately this is not a healthy diet and a high percentage of the population endured spina bifida. To have this pre historic reconstruction in Dayton OH is amazing!

This site was very interesting. Definitely watch the short introduction movie. The museum is small but informative. The actual site is behind the visitors center. I visited with my pre-teen daughter and she enjoyed being able to run around and touch things (outside, of course). There are placards giving the visitor relevant information. We spent about 2 hours - we planned a picnic (they have shaded picnic tables on-site) but got rained out. Would recommend to visit.

My experience at SunWatch Village was phenomenal thanks to William (Bill) Kennedy. My boyfriend and I asked the first person we saw to take our picture without realizing we were talking to the curator of anthropology. Bill explained the history of the site in a way that was engaging, exciting, intelligent, and passionate. He was incredibly generous with his time and it was so very appreciated. I just hope everyone who visits has a similarly wonderful experience. Give yourself 2 hours if you like to read all posted information. If you are short on time, move more quickly through the first room of the museum since a lot of the information is repeated in the outdoor exhibit and the 12 minute video.
