I truly enjoyed my time here. There was so much to see. The museum is enormous. There are plenty of seats and lots of room to roam. It’s a pity that we weren’t allowed to board any of the airplanes because of COVID. A good time was had by all on this America History Adventure. You must bring a bottle of water with you because the water fountains are closed to the public. Admission is free so you can make this a two day event like we did. The staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. They enjoy answering all the many questions with a smile. The gift shop is a must see bonus at the end of your visit.

Best aircraft museum I’ve ever seen. Gives the Udvar Hazy a run for its money but I believe this one takes the cake. It’s an immense museum that has a massive gallery. A ton of airplanes, but not a bad exhibit in this whole museum. Such a cool place and so many cool sights. There is a lot of walking involved with seeing it but in my opinion well worth it. I have a difficult time with walking a lot but they have benches everywhere and it’s well worth it to explore this whole museum and get all that you can out of it! Always an awesome place to take the family. Walking around in the ac getting in your steps and seeing some awesome aircraft as well as learning the history behind them. I remember going as a kid myself and had fun, and now as a father of 3, having my kids excited about going and wanting to see the planes is great to see. Especially during this time, hard to find safe things to do with the family, but this place being open is a great thing to do with the kids.

This place is great. Both my kids love it, especially the simulators that they keep getting more and better ones of. Super friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Its also a very safe place too. They have MPs on site for any problems, and everyone is scanned through a metal detector on the way in. Their Space, and Presidential hangar is amazing. You can walk through the air force one that President Johnson was sworn in on after the assassination of Kennedy. They also have other air force ones, and older planes before they were called air force one that carried presidents. Super cool place, highly recommend.

Brilliant place, features some of the greatest aircraft of all time including the SR-71 Blackbird, JFKs and Roosevelts Air Force One, and many great and historic WW1 and WW2 aircraft as well as so many more. They also have a theatre with great shows/movies about the USAF, as well as a nice shop. I recommend checking out the aircraft parked outside as well, as you can get a real close up look at them, which includes an F-16 and a C-17 Boeing Globemaster. Also, during my visit I was lucky enough to see a 747 takeoff from the nearby AF base! This place has so many things going for it. Its one of the best aviation museums in the world. Its fantastic for kids of all ages. It covers so much history in so much depth that it *will* take you several visits to see everything. Admission is free, parking is free, and they are open nearly every day of the year. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.Tips: If youre pressed for time, keep in mind that the displays are organized more or less chronologically, so if youre into more modern-era stuff than you are WWI and WWII, just get a map and walk directly to those halls to the time period you want. Its rarely very crowded, but if you want plenty of space a really enjoyable time, the best time to go is at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings. The place is empty and quiet. If you need a stroller for a child, they have them but theyre on a first-come-first served basis, so bring one if you can. The museum is very very large, so if you have little ones that might get tired from walking you might keep that in mind.

The military aviations Mecca. This is the largest military aviation museum in the world.Ive been there three times and I never managed to see everything in a single visit. The guides are extremely knowledgeable, some being former Air Force mechanics who serviced the very planes that are now on display. If you are sort of serious about photographing the planes, bring a tripod (for long exposures, the hangars are somewhat dark to protect the planes from UV) and a wide angle lens (in most cases you wont be able to find a vantage point far enough to capture an entire plane, unless you are using a wide angle lens). The museum is FREE. Leave food, drinks and knives in your car, as they are very strict with bag inspections.

This is one of the most fascinating museums I have ever been to. The collection of planes and air force history displays is far beyond my expectations. This is a place that can be appreciated by anyone, young and old, with any background. It is a large museum so you may want to plan a whole day or a few days to cover everything. They do give tours so check into one of those if you are looking for a more personalized experience.

We were able to visit the National Museum of the US Air Force last weekend and had an excellent time. After looking at the website it was clear to see that there were plenty of displays to keepUs occupied. I’d suggest anyone planning to visit to check the website first so you know the location of the exhibits you don’t want to miss. This is a massive museum and there is easily enough to take up a full day. You don’t want to run out of time and miss something you were really hoping to see. If you have a special interest in this then you may even want to consider going multiple days just to make sure you don’t miss anything. We especially enjoyed touring through the presidential collection, the Apollo 15 Command Module, the Memphis Belle and so many of the experimental aircraft that existed only in tests or were the precursors for other well known aircraft.Parking and admission to the museum was free. There is a snack bar at the entrance and a full cafeteria near the back of the museum. There is also a gift shop and plenty of volunteers roaming to help answer questions and give directions. We visited on a Saturday and while the parking lot was full, the museum itself didn’t feel overly crowded. This is a must see for anyone visiting Dayton.
