I love coming to the DMA! I havent been since before the shutdown so it was nice to come back and see new exhibits. Theyre doing timed tickets during COVID (general admission is free btw!) and everyone wears masks so theyve done a great job managing that. For the gift shop, they monitor the number of people going in to give enough space for safety.

Excellent museum! One needs a few days to fully explore this fantastic museum! Very well organized and I loved the different exhibition area being separated based on geographical, cultural and religious themes. There are no drinks or food allowed through the museum - so if you grab a drink or wine in the cafe area, be sure to finish it there before leaving. Great experience! Will definitely be back for more!

People might not normally think - hey, I am traveling to Dallas so I need to hit the Art Museum the way you might think about an older city. But, as a local, I keep my pass current and love to spend a couple hours here each month. Its not quiet the level of GEM that the Arboretum commands, but for an indoor venue... its as good as any major city.

Really cool art installations when I went. They had the House of Dreams installation that you have to pay extra for - super worth it. I spent more time here than I did at the Perto Museum. Their collection of artifacts are incredibly impressive. It was a huge maze. Im surprised I got through it all. If you want to kill time, youll definitely spend more time here than the Perto Museum. Parking is expensive in downtown. I went to the Perto Museum first and just parked there because it was the cheapest parking I found in the area. I left my car there and just walked over to this museum. They make you leave your water bottle at the front of the museum to collect after youre done. Make sure you bring your student ID to get a discount.

Very cool spot to see some very renowned artwork. Would be a perfect score if not be for 2 things.. 1 why do they make their side entrance look so welcoming but only allow admission through the front? 2 why charge you extra to see a certain exhibit after paying for ticket originally hoping to see the whole shabang??

A lot of the museum has changed a bit, or is different from what I remember. Certainly some exhibits havent changed much at all, however I did see some pieces no longer seen, and some of the exhibits relocated or scattered (the silver isnt cramped up in a small room as it previously had been.) The layout is more opened up and perhaps more well lit, and less impersonal perhaps. I uploaded some photos of the place (and even though Ive reviewed other museums around the country, the one museum that was local to me and probably among the first museum of any kind Ive been to, is only just now getting reviewed (photographed as it were.) August 2019 update: Many of the images I took in my review were of exhibits that are being changed out.

It was okay because as soon as I arrived a docent yelled at me way too crazy with the wrong tone, then mocked me by using the pointing gesture I did towards the painting. I was not very close at all, behind the line, being a docent at a contemporary museum I am very aware of the rules and to stand back from art. I believe this older lady of color was having a bad day and took it out on me. All the other staff/employees were very nice and made up for the rude introduction of my visit. The exhibits were nice.

I’ve been to about 5 museums in large cities such as Denver, Washington D.C. and Minneapolis. Most have a fee and it was nice to see this museum was free. It was me and my fiancé’s first time in Dallas and there was absolutely nothing to site see (that we could find out from the internet, we also asked a server who’s lived there all her life and she recommended a small walking garden center when we drove by it was meager) we decided to go to the Denver Museum of Art. I genuinely love museums and was incredibly excited to be inside and appreciate art (especially since my fiancé would rather be walking outside). We found parking and walked to what seemed to be entrances and twice we had employees come outside and sternly saying go to the front pointing us around the corner making us feel like we were trying to pull a fast one and enter without checking in but we had no idea what the front was. The one lady said go on DMA and download the app and fill in the information before slamming the door as we said thank you. I signed us up and we were able to scan our codes at the door. Thankfully, it was was free. We saw the gift shop and we looked through and there were lots of Frida souvenirs. The guy at the front said go through and exit out the back doors. We when exited out we had two employees approach us and ask where we came from. We said the gift shop then they said “oh” and let us by. We asked for a front desk map and went into the Islamic artifacts. There were three employees watching us read the art plaques as most of it was behind glass. It was uncomfortable to be stared at the entire time and there was a portion we did not see because there was an employee standing in the way. We left and walked down to the outside sculpture portion and there was a kind employee who told us about them being in the Guinness world records for most people dressed like Frida. He was so nice. As we walked outside we looked at the first metal sculpture and it was a big grey angular triangle and my fiancé looked under it and touched the side as he came back. An employee came up and said sir please don’t touch the sculptures due to covid (understandable!). Being that doors weren’t constantly being washed and there was a seating area 10 feet away which I’m sure doesn’t get wiped down we were annoyed. We decided to leave. All of the employees except for one were mono toned, rude and made us feel awkward. Most were not too nice, like they dealt with the worst people and that’s how they talked to the general public on a daily basis. I understand keeping order, I understand we’re in a pandemic but I think there needs to be more welcoming attitudes and an easier system for tourists like my fiancé and I.

Visited for the special art events - have decided to check the museum while at the city. Its quite big - 3 stories, and have several rooms (+50) so you can spend almost 2-3 hours here if you are not careful.. Meaning you will end up spending your afternoon if you enter at 1 pm and come out at 4pm, thinking wow. where did time flew away? Its absolutely great museum - clean, well maintained, and the ticket price can be bit pricey. Make sure to get the family membership if you visit city and enjoy art work regularly.
