I think this place is great. It is quirky, interesting, and full of many different things to see. Some are pretty amazing and others.not so much. The concept is strong and it has some really interesting exhibits. I wouldnt bring little kids here though. Both our children are high school age and they liked it. Little kids might not like it so much. It is way larger than you would expect.

It was truly a wonderful experience for our family especially for my little brother. He really enjoyed these illusion exhibits and he made the best out of everything. Weve realized that he really enjoyed it and he was a great actor. It was really fun but really packed inside, we had to line up inside and wait for everyone to take turns to take photos because there were so many people. We also purchased tickets through trip advisor days in advance so that well have the ticket ready. But when we got to the location there was a huge line, we also had to wait on line even though we had the tickets ready.

So this place came highly recommended to us and maybe I’m not getting it but I found it to be rather random and weird - not good weird just perplexing weird. There is a strong Adams Family vibe that makes me think something creepy is going down in the back rooms and the eerie staff seem to enhance the whole ghost-like atmosphere. It was okay, definitely memorable and something I will think about for the rest of my entire life. Thanks.

The Museum is Jurassic Technology has long been one of my all-time favorite places in Los Angeles! It’s completely unique, from a fascinating, meticulously curated permanent collection; its top floor tea room (serving complimentary tea and cookies daily!) and adjoining Cloisters-meets-Morocco style rooftop courtyard, replete with cooing doves and a lush secret garden. And don’t even get me started on the gift shop: it. Is. AMAZING and typically the first place I go when gift shopping for good friends and family (and self, to be honest!) SO relieved the shop is still open online, saving my 2020 Christmas gift game from succumbing to this year’s hell loop hallmarks: dread, fury, fear, extreme disappointment, timeless in the worst way (b/c it’s lost all meaning—how long have we been in this? 6 months or a quarter century??), etc. When this current shitstorm era is finally over (in 500 years), the Museum of Jurassic Technology will be one of my first stops! Until then, I will do whatever I can to support this singular institution (and urge others to do so, too (if you can—lean times)). CHECK OUT THE GIFT SHOP!!

So what is this place? Well, thats honestly part of the experience. This is the greatest museum I have been to and one of the best reasons to visit LA. From the moment you walk in, you know that this place is intentional. Its not just a smattering of art or a walk through a certain era of history. There is something going on that you suspect is above your head or maybe a joke you are trying to get in on. It seems to reveal the bizarre ways in which humans interact with themselves and the environment. In some ways it feels eerie and haunting. A recent exhibit demonstrated ways that humans have used parts of nature, like lithium or animal tongues, to cure disease. Another explored the strange history of trailers in America and another detailing the exploits of an obscure scientist in his hypotheses about magnetism. On my first visit one month ago I purchased a membership and have been back three times since then. Not only is this a museum but also a nice little thinking and talking spot with tea and cookies in a garden where a few doves (!) live. The outside is deceptively small, but the interior is absolutely massive.

It’s a shame because it’s clear that the organizers want to share what they find interesting about items in the museum but just can’t. When you try to figure out what the collections are about, you’re met with informational plaques that read like the first chapter of a biography. The museum desperately needs a judicious editor to come in and rewrite all these plaques and create some sense of logic to the museum.

The strangest place in LA. Has plenty of highly unique oddities to look at. The buildings architecture is actually pretty incredible in some places. If you’re the kind of person who has a slightly warped sense of humor, you’ll love this museum. It’s like a bizarre trip through a chapter of a Douglas Adams book. For museum lovers its great. Weird, eclectic set of exhibits that range from the strange histories of popular historical figures to unfounded technologies that never made it because they were too radical for their time.Enjoyable for a date since its easy to go through the entire small museum at your preferred pace, enjoy the tea room (and occasional love music towards the evening), and its in the heart of Culver, so plenty of bars, restaurants, and activities in walking distance.

My favorite museum in Los Angeles. It’s a cabinet of curiosities that you can walk through. This place tells a story that is enigmatic and magical if you let your imagination do its job and open your mind to the adventure. There are also cookies and tea at the end of the maze if you want to sit and contemplate your journey. Warning, if you are a cynical person, this place may not be for you, if you are too cool, this also may not be for you. But if you are cynical or too cool, be the best you and let others enjoy their experience, make their own memories, come to their own conclusions and discuss your findings AFTER you leave so as not to poison the well for people who enjoy the wonder of the Museum of Jurassic Technology.

Only set aside an hour and a half, naively thinking that because of its size that it wouldnt take very long, but I will need to make another trip back to finish up. Worth it. This adventure embarked upon even when it’s high noon will still start just as dark when you enter. I speak of light not atmosphere, but the atmosphere is where adventure comes to life. Looking into all the exhibits of this museum, the existence of which I was set upon by Taliesin Jaffe The connoisseur of teenage, as wholes, or taken as parts, those exhibits are the sense of discovery. That sense playing the Critical Role is itself unscripted adventure, though some would argue. Wander through at your leisure and go upstairs for a spot of tea and cookies. Wonder the mystery of the past shown in exhibits, some images of people past. Others history of this or that, and of course many exhibits talks machina. Be it rockets or string or calling of bats. Find peace in the garden or least the symbol of. Thus exit adventure done, continue to love this gem of L.A. The Museum of Jurassic Technology.

My boss actually recommended this place a long time ago, more than once. So when I had the chance to check it out with a group, I went for it.I realize many people think its charmingly quirky. A professor in our group said its an example of old-style museums which were non-themed, and more a collection of the latest oddities in science, nature, geography, music, etc...An example is a large exhibit on Cats Cradle, a macrame type art using only your hands, which I did a version of growing up. However we would pass is to each other in growing levels of difficulty and we used bungee type cords.Personally, I liked the bell wheel on the ceiling and chilling with the doves on the top floor. They know the tea and cookie routine and come right up to you to share the joy...; )The reason I gave this 2 stars is because I got a gnarly sore throat the next day and related ailments. This also happened after I visited a cellar in a really old house/restaurant / museum in Savannah called The Pirates House where they used to Shanghai people and make them work on their ships. Theres a tunnel from the place directly to the docks, yikes!I say its mold in the air which apparently is common in museums. And the Juraissac place has an enclosed running water exhibit about plains and the exhibition areas are really dark. Mold does love the moist darkness, que no?So word to the wise, visit with your mouth covered, and be sure to share your cookie.

Very quirky but extremely interesting little museum, off the beaten track. Exhibits change often. When we went there were miniature sculptures that fit through the eye of a needle, examples (with visual displays) of old superstitions, they have things like that. This is not an art museum, rather, a museum of oddities, which are fascinating. There is free tea and cookies on the second floor in the afternoon. Through the tearoom, go up two steps to the roof, where there is a lovely enclosed garden. There, you can sit and sip your tea, and watch the mourning doves as they walk freely around you.
