Nice place overall to go and spend time with the family. A bit small but through the yelp app I only paid $14 for 4, which I thought it was a great deal. But I do think they should expand more in consideration of the animals because some cages seemed exactly that cages and small. It was nice overall.

Visited here for the first time last weekend. The museum staff was great and made us feel welcome.Staff asks how you heard of the museum and your zip code but that’s as far as it goes for “admission”.The art is varied, paintings, audiovisual works and collections of various classifications. This is a good visit for history buffs , those looking to do something different on a weekend, and parents looking for activitiesAn added bonus ,a kid specific event on certain Sundays (call for details) insert this into a weekend as a kids activity, and if by some great mystery your child gets bored, there is always Veterans Park right across the street!

A beautiful place that has a clever disguise. From the outside it looks quite literally like an iron curtain checkpoint, which is by design. However inside it has not only amazing art but a very thoughtful and interesting layout. Then you get the the garden and are blown away by how serene and beautiful it is in stark contrast with the bleak modern industrial look to the outside. Some truly inspiring art and stories in here. Make sure to get something at the gift shop. An amazing place for any leftist nerds like me, but I would say anyone of any political leaning would be remiss if they did not take any opportunity they had to visit this place for the culture and the history that is not often talked about in America.

Awesome venue for free cultural enrichment! More of a cold war art gallery though. I would personally love to see and learn more about the history of the cold war itself though. Theres only so much you can fit into one space though so I get it. Definitely a do-over

I was hoping for more Soviet Bloc Era memorabilia. However, the art exhibit on display was interesting and because it was not too busy (I was there early) I got a personal tour led by a well-informed docent! The garden and grounds are well-maintained and quite beautiful.

An outstanding museum, with very knowledgeable and attentive docents. The outdoor garden is also a very pleasant space. Exhibits rotate regularly. The museum is located in the old Armory building--which makes for a very interesting and visually attractive space. The permanent collection is partially on view in two side galleries. Plan at least an hour.

The Wende is a hidden gem in the heart of Greater LA. The collection of Cold War artifacts is a great way to spend a couple of hours with visitors to the area. Unexpected and surprising.

Well-curated art and artifact collection reflecting world cultures of the Cold War within a modern space. Concise, orderly, and thoroughly educational. Knowledgeable docent was there to show us highlights and give talks of what’s shown. Courteous staff. Be amazed, then take home a bit of history with something from their gift shop. Good location, good parking.

Great museum. The space is nice and small enough to tour in an hour or two. The free tour gives a nice sampling of the collection. Our tour guide Julia did an excellent job and I learned a lot. Exhibits also rotate every few months so there’s always more to see.

Fascinating era of history that deserves to be reviewed and analyzed. It is all done wonderfully here in a simple, effective space. A visit here was suggested to me when I struck up a conversation with a fellow visitor at another museum: The Huntington. I was so glad to receive the recommendation and have no hesitation moving the Wende Museum to the top of my list of places to visit in the hidden gem category. Thank you to the museum and its sponsors for providing perspective on past, present, and future times by shining a light on this unique era. I wish I lived closer but will most definitely return for future exhibits.

Escape the relentless construction of apartment buildings in Culver City. Go to the Wende. Its peaceful, informative, and well designed. The staff is friendly. The garden area is tranquil. You can sit and think and not see an apartment building. The Wende is a tiny treasure.

Very interesting museum with rotating exhibits about the cold war. Not just spy info but also the everyday life of Russians, Americans, East Germans, etc. Having lived in West Germany in the late 70s, this brings back memories. Interior decorations, radios, games, ceramic memorial plates.Plenty of parking, free entry, even a Trabant parked in the garden. Not really for kids, but interesting for adults. Takes an hour or so, depending on what you want to see. Also, get on the email list. They have wine and cheese presentations every so often at no cost.

This museum is free to the public, and the new building is simple but striking in its minimal, brutalist way. Theres a nice collection of art and photography from the Cold War era, along with thoughtful and stories and notes for context. What my son and I were hoping for were more physical and military artifacts. I will say there was some interesting Russian radio equipment and fragments from the Berlin Wall. But we wanted more of this. I would say that anyone that enjoys history will enjoy this space, just dont expect a spy museum. (By the way, if you have any interest in the Berlin Wall you have to visit the Reagan Library.)

Kind of cold war lite, hoping to stimulate thought and discussion. But, displaying instruments of surveillance and describing individuals lack of liberty does not capture sufficiently the devastating effects on human development and freedom exchanged for visions of an unrealizable Socialist Utopia that ultimately failed, at the expense of tens of millions of lives. Maybe the curators hope folks will make their own conclusions, but that wasnt allowed in Communist states, was it?
