Love. Love. LOVE this place! They are working on their indoor forest this fall . A must see. Be sure to check out a new addition to their fossil collection. Very cool local history!!

This spot is a valuable place to go and learn about the surrounding nature. The center is spatially large and hosts maniquens of different birds, insects, animals and fish. It is very much like a mini museum.

The Crystal Lake Park District Nature Center is a joy to visit and play in as a break from our hike at Veteran Acres. My children absolutely love the area to explore animals in aquariums/terrariums as well as the butterfly room when it is open. We found many excellent resources here for upcoming events for the children such as mother daughter tea time and a woodcarving workshop for our oldest. In the building itself are heated bathrooms and a fun area for the kids to put on a puppet show with an abundance of puppets and other animals. A very fun place indeed! We hope to also host a birthday party here for one of our kids in the future!

It has some interesting displays of nature and wild habitat. Good for young people. It was actually remodelled recently and has bathrooms plus bathrooms that are SOMETIMES accessible from outside. I suspect right now they are not opening up.

Everyone there seemed very nice and friendly. There was no admission charge and things to do and see for kids. There is a room you can ask to go into that has butterflies and birds that they will feed and they will come right up to your kids which I thought was kinda cool. Checked out the trails a little. The park seemed like a nice place to take a hike.

Wish more towns in McHenry County had places like these

We love the Nature center! We had a birthday party here and it was wonderful!

My kids really like to look at all of the turtles, etc in the tanks and loved the puppet theater when they were younger. Helpful staff willing to answer questions, and the butterfly room is awesome.

Such a hidden gem in the community. There are so many educational things to see and do inside of the Nature Center, along with their butterfly exhibit, and you can hold birthday parties here which the kids LOVE! Jess has so much knowledge about nature and the projects hes working with, and is unbelievably great with the kids.

One of my favorite places in town.

The nature center is a great educational experience for me and my grandchildren. Lots of information on the land and the trees and vegetation and wildlife. We had a great early Spring afternoon exploring indoors when it was still a little too cool to be outdoors. Kids of all ages will be entertained. Its very hands on!

Great place for a little adventure and some great trails, nature centers butterfly garden is a really fun way to get up close and see some different species! People working there are great!

Great place! We went to the Nature Center to work on our Cub Scout Adventure. Jess was awesome!

I was at the nature center where they had a presentation on science.the presentation was for 8 to 10 year olds with simple science projects.I am much older than that but I really did enjoy it. The topper was that I even learned a few new things.

Attended an after-hours birthday party at the Nature Center building on a Friday. Didnt know this place existed but now want to return with the family during regular hours. Had bday pizza and desserts, hiked the grounds with staff and enjoyed the evening with a large campfire making Smores and the teenage girls telling scary stories. Worth hiking the grounds but watch your step especially at night with a weak flashlight. Great staff.

Wonderful place for everyone to explore.

Not very fun for my 5 and 4 year old. A little room with few toys but, if you like hiking etc then this is a good place to go.
