More natural scenery than most parks. Most trails and paths are not paved. Great place to learn mountain biking, or to hike, without leaving the city. Fairview Park also connects to Talbert Park, which in turns connect to Santa Ana river trail that leads to the beach, making a decently long bike ride. Theres also an area for RC cars and planes, and a few pick nick tables.

Very nice park to take the kids to ride their bikes or every third week, to ride one of the longest small train rides Ive ever been on... AND THE TRAIN RIDES ARE FREE. The only thing is that your child has to be big enough to straddle the train that they sit on. This is a 15 minute, one-way ride through the marshes. You can also see the very nice remote control aircraft at the other side of the park, across from the train rides. Very nice park.

Beautiful nature park on multiple levels - perfect location for a peaceful hike where you can observe local flora and fauna (the park is filled with many native plant species and hosts a great many diverse birds for the watching). The facility includes both manicured and completely natural areas, walking and riding trails, restroom facilities, picnic tables and enclosures and much more!

This great little escape of the local suburbs. There is even a nice airfield for drones lots of trails, people who walk their dogs, a few scattered benches or tables. It does get really windy so dress accordingly. Its a great soot to take a few pictures and go for a run, or even just park for lunch.

Its great for a hike because theres a lot of trails and once you get bored of walking around here you can keep going and walk into the Hubert park I believe its called and Its nothing but trails. Its very dog friendly but theres a lot of wild life mostly ducks and squirrels so be aware of that and although Ive never had any problems, there are warnings of rattle snakes and coyotes but as long as you stay on the trails the snakes shouldnt be a problem. The scenery is very nice to take pictures at the little pond habitat

Its hard for me to give many of the parks in my hometown a rating of any less than 5 out of 5 stars, but if you continue to use my ratings and insight in local haunts and trails, youll see that I always have a reason for the praise I give.Fairview park is a wild place and just about as wild as you can get in Newport-Mesa. If you like to explore, you want a glimpse of nature as it was across this entire county and watershed, then head to Fairview park for manicured and natural trails. 88 acres of natural beauty with sandy soil, scrub forests, tall old tree giants amidst the scent of wild sage and salt marsh. Set out on one of the maintained DG trails that are great for jogging and biking, then take a detour onto a natural sandy trail with the dog for a peek into the lives of grey squirrels, ground squirrels, coyotes, rabbits, bobcats, foxes, a few road runners, hawks, kites, falcons, the rare osprey, and more. Just make sure you dont intrude onto a trail deemed off-limits by OC PARKS... They have the interest of the habitat in mind. As long as we let them have their space, the health of their beautiful holistic home returns to you in the form of valuable surrounding real-estate.

Amazing.. we took a train all the way around the entire park. It was pretty sweet actually. They have a cool little store that has everything to do with trains, and outside they have a taco stand that has probably the bombest tamales Ive ever had in my entire life. Every third Saturday and Sunday of the month all year round they have this train that operates that you can take a ride on but during Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas season they are very busy in the line was very long. Fun thing to do all year round the third Saturday and Sunday of the month but I wouldnt suggest coming during the holidays unless youre ready to wait in the line

Lots of different trails to take but shade along the trails is nonexistent and its a very empty park. No one is in sight or around to help me feel safer about walking around alone with my dog. I went at noon on a Saturday and despite some fair going on the trails were pretty empty. We walked through the wetlands, the Santa Ana River area and through Talbert Regional. I prefer how wide the path is at Talbert Regional. Plenty of room to keep my dog away from the dried dead grass most likely infested with ticks! We ran out of water on our walk and only ran into two water fountains during our 5 mile trek (one at the bathrooms in Talbert Regional and one at the bathrooms in Fairview Park by the parking lot and green fields). You definitely feel creeped out walking alone through the paths in the wetland area. Trails are mostly compacted dirt which is nicer on my dogs paws on a warm day. They also had black asphalt along some trails that were pretty jagged. I didnt want my dog to walk on them and hurt her pawpaw. I personally prefer busy bustling places over very quiet and isolated places when I hike by myself. Ill come back again with a group, but there are much safer feeling parks to take my dog on a walk through.

Its a massive park/reserve. People fly model planes here on Sunday. Covered tables are available in the open areas of the upper park. There are more tables in the lower park in a grassy shaded area that shouldnt be too hard to find from the stairs coming down from the upper part. Just keep following the main path. There are a lot of dirt paths in the lower park that can be fun to explore. Its next to the Santa Ana River Trail, which is nice if you want to go bicycling and eventually reaches the ocean (if you go in the right direction).

AN ICONIC PARK IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA. I spent a large amount of time during high school training with friends, riding my bike, running around and still do sometimes. At the top of the park there is plenty of grass, parking and walking areas. For those of you who enjoy feeling your calves burn there is plenty of hills to run up and down on. At the bottom of the park there is a section with a bunch of trees, grass, shade and wonderful breeze from the ocean. Its my favorite place to take a break. I like the renovations the city made years back where they added the pond with trails that run through it. The bridge over Placentia is very helpful and a nice touch to connect both sides of the park where you can walk around on the other side. Theres a place designated for people that like to fly their remote control airplanes. The view at the top is awesome to look at at take pictures as you look over Huntington Beach, the Santa Ana river bed, and clear out into the ocean. I hope they keep this park the way it is and leave it untouched by developers looking to make more apartments.

I mainly go to this park to fly Remote Control and you are required to pay $60 for a permit to fly here, plus AMA membership which is $75 a year. But they rarely do anything to improve the flying area, while all other park users pay nothing to use this park. Now they are only letting us renew flying permits for 2020 until the end of June. Then they may close our flying field. Theres over 200 acres of park here and we use maybe an acre for our flying hobby. People enjoy watching us flyers pilot the sky in this park that we all enjoy. So why do they want us out of here, because of a few environmentalist making up any excuses they can think up to boot us out.
