Looking for a Sofa on Chairish, I had the good fortune of landing on an item for sale from Archive 20th Century. Located in Orange County, it was close enough for me to do local pick-up.The transaction for the sofa led me to to owner, Nick Batchelder and his businesss web site.I was immediately moved by three things. First, the quality and uniqueness of his collection. Exquisite falls short as a descriptor here! All the items are either in time-capsule UN-restored original condition or have been sympathetically restored to the highest level. Original patinas simply glow! Second, its obvious by Nicks choices of significant designers, (but still off the beaten path of the familiar) this guys knowledgeable. His reputation, I later learned, for authenticity, is well known. And third, the rendering of the items by his photography is aspirational and really showcases his eye for design. As a career advertising photographer specializing in furniture-I hope he doesnt change careers!Our transaction went smoothly, communication excellent and Nick met me more than half-way on my specific needs.
