Easy hike with the kids 3-7 yrs old. Great views!
Short (took me about 30 minutes one way), fairly easy, steep hike. The trail was in good condition (October), with easily seen markings and trail signs. There are the usual rocks and roots and the top is all rock which some might find tricky with younger kids but 6/7 and older would be perfect for this trail. The views at the top are beautiful!
Easy hiking. Great view
Very nice hike. Did this last year but didnt go all the way to the top because of the snow. Better weather this year. Views are even better from the top. Alternate path is an easier go of it but a bit longer. Both ways were very wet due to the rain the previous day, made for some slippery spots but well worth the time to get to the top
We thought it was challenging because we dont hike a lot. Lots of stumps and rocks all the way up. Once you reach the top its stunning. Worth the trip for sure. There were a lot of people but we still got a spot in the lot. We liked the outer loop to head back down. It was easier than the boulders and lots of pretty foliage.
Rating a mountain peak, okay sure. Well the trail up there was very clean with lots of water run off drainage cuts. Plenty of connecting trails to neighboring mountains (like Cranmore if memory serves). The summit gets rather tricky since the top of the mountain is mostly bare rock. If you arent comfortable on the rocks you should either bring hiking poles or take the long way up (there is a cross roads near the top where hikers can opt to either have a short rigorous climb, or a long steady low incline hike). The rock face on top has paint leading hikers toward a paint circle representing the peak.Sunset is really amazing up there, but be careful... night with no trees on top of the mountain comes a lot later than it does in the woods on your way back down. When it gets dim at the peak it is pitch black in the woods. Bring a head light (EMS has great black diamond headlights over at settlers crossing by the black cap grill).Carry in carry out.
Pretty easy, family friendly hike of less than 2 miles from the Black Cap trailhead. Great views a few hundred feet before the summit. If you hike the loop I suggest the short (and steeper) way up and longer way down. Trail is in good shape but had loose dirt on a dry July day so can be a little slippery if you go down the steeper way.
Pretty easy hike, even with kids. The views from the top are AMAZING and well worth it. Definitely use some bug spray.
This easy hike has really great views, doesnt seem like you should get rewarded for this view for such a fairly easy hike!
Awesome!!! Hike is well worth it for the stunning views.
An easy hike with amazing views in every direction.
Easy hike for a very nice view.
Super short hike that gives great views of Fryeburg and surrounding areas.
Lovely short trail to a open summit.
Big bang for the short walk. Views of NOCO and Cranmore to the west and Maine to the East.
Top of the workd
