The art museum is a credit to the region, with an excellent permanent collection alongside challenging and intriguing exhibitions. Arts shown is well curated and presented, with timely and relevant contexts for work that challenges a viewer to see themselves in context. Prices are affordable, but look, too, for free museum days noted on their website. The whole museum can be seen within one visit, but new additions and visiting shows necessitate and facilitate frequent return visits.

Overall a great place for art appreciation, with nice staff, and a gift shop with awesome items. I got to enjoy a very special private collection, but there is always something cool being shared. The kids were not as impressed, however. They only needed about 15 minutes in the tactile gallery and the scavenger hunt was only for the first floor. Most rooms upstairs have cozy chairs and art books for taking a rest, or for bored kids ;) I enjoyed it, but need to go back sans-kids.

A fantastic place to see top notch theatre and art. There are always shows/events running, check the website for tickets. The museum is a must see in the Springs. There is a restaurant and bar inside the building too, great for pre show dining.

This post is for the arts center/ art museum (not the theatre). I love art. I am an engineer, and an artist. I believe in instilling culture and the arts in children. Unfortunately, this is not a consistently child-friendly place. They have a tactile gallery where everyone is welcoming to children, but if you go anywhere else, the docents often chase you around, waiting for someone to do something they could reprimand you for. Rather than welcoming our family into the different galleries with gentle reminders, the intro lines were dont touch anything! and they literally chased us around repeating reminders even though all of the children were perfectly behaved. My kids were scared into crying. After having eaten our picnic lunch in the courtyard and cleaning several of the tables and chairs, and always leaving a place cleaner than we find it, it was really sad to be treated this way. Dont even think about bringing sealed and closed water containers into the galleries, you cannot carry them through for convenience if you are old and in a wheelchair or pregnant with several children and things to hold and remember. (Although I am sure you can drink wine and eat hors doeuvres in the galleries for executive parties!) Dont even think about discreetly nursing a baby or changing a diaper in a completely empty gallery. It is sad that even on free days the art museum is generally empty. If the docents were consistently trained to be kind and welcoming to families I am sure they could have more traffic. At this time though, if they dont want children in the museum, it might as well be closed to children and they can leave only the tactile gallery open to all guests. Sadly we had such a hard time the last time we came, we are all too afraid to visit again... we heard the message loud and clear: We were not welcome!

Amazing collection that should be on everyones list of things to see or do in Colorado Springs. The Chihuly Collection is worth the admission price alone. We brought my Mother-in-law who was in a wheelchair with no difficulties. The classic architechture of the building is also a delight to be in.

Ive enjoyed many plays in the past, but just went to Bad Dates with some girlfriends tonight and while the play was fun, the ushers made the entire experience a bit ridiculous. The play was open seating so we asked to move an unoccupied folding chair over to join a table with our group, and were told no. We asked three different ushers and each one ho-hummed about the chairs being for paying customers (which we were) so we finally resorted to taking turns SITTING ON THE FLOOR for the entire duration of the play while an unoccupied chair sat thirty feet away. Cool guys, thanks for that. Were able to laugh about it now, I guess.

This is a great art museum with a strong permanent collection and a good program of temporary exhibitions. The highlights include a number of glass sculptures by Chihuly and a variety of pieces by Native American artists. The museum is conveniently located near downtown, with easy access from I-25 and a decent-sized parking lot in front of the building. Adult admission is $10, which is a reasonable price for the size and quality of the exhibits.

Interesting art but horribly rude staff! They seriously ruined our experience with how condescending they were toward my family and I. We left early because we felt so uncomfortable and disrespected. Theres a way to talk to people and we waisted our money going to this. What could have been a nice experience was the total opposite.

I never realized how extremely talented the actors are here at the Fine Arts Center. In the last two years my family and I have attended four shows which have enriched our lives. We have all made a lifetime goal to attend at least two shows a year. Visits to view the different art exhibits in the museum is what I look forward to each month. Thank you!!!

This was a very cool museum I really liked their courtyard! I was surprised to find that there was not much about Colorado Springs here, but it was very wide spread with all of their cultural material. I like how much interaction things they had, minus the fact most did not work. We were lucky enough to make it here on their free days event! But, for a regular admission of $10 I absolutely find it worth it for a one time visit.

Its worse than pulling teeth trying to get the staff here to honor a certificate. I have tried numerous times in the course of the past six months to try and get into a class with a certificate I won, and I am constantly getting e-mails that the person responsible for such a thing will be in touch with me. But I never hear from her, only other people using her email who assure me she will respond as soon as she gets back from vacation or what have you. Apparently the person responsible is never at her desk, or just doesnt think Im worthy of getting her attention. Thanks for nothing.

Dont get me wrong, I love the fine arts center, and Ive loved all the efforts and opportunities they make available for learning programs and students, but I was disheartened by the contempt from one of their older tour guides. At the time, the Fine Arts center had a Hispanic exhibition displaying Mexican farmers working in a field. The guide felt the need to express her unwanted political feelings, and jokingly explained how, these Mexicans look illegal to me, and I would bet when the cops come, theyll start running because they dont have their green cards. It made everyone on the tour uncomfortable when we had come to appreciate art from different walks of life. It was uncalled for, and disrespectful to the artists intentions. I dont think someone who lacks the ability to think critically, or make sound judgement over whats appropriate to say out loud, should have the ability to speak about different artists or works of art.

I never see a negative when it comes to art and I feel each institute has its own creative design. I feel that art is anything and it does depend on the persons creativity. This building is professional but the art really extracted itself from the walls to the heart. I like this one.

Ive visited several times and this time let me down. They have many fine pieces in their collection but most are hidden Maybe the staff is jaded and wanting to sparsely populate it with new mediocre items to keep it fresh for regular attendees. Even then a hall with bowl after bowl of Chihuly differing only in color and identical to those in half of America’s museums gets boring by halls end. I’ll check the web site more carefully before going again.

I just went to the Fine Arts Center to see the Vogel collection which has been heavily advertised as a must see this Summer. I was terribly disappointed. There was literally 30 pieces, very rudimentary sketches that could have been completed by a 10 year old. The piece featured so widely in the advertisements in the Independant by Lucero may have been the only impressive piece in the whole collection. Pick up a copy of the Independent and save youself seeing that collection ! There are lots of other VERY worthwhile pieces of art on display, just not this particular collection.
