New and Improved experience at the Dalton Defenders Museum. Theyve moved across the street. Well laid out museum. Museum has a lot of cool exhibits regarding local history and of course the Dalton raid and the heroes who stopped them. If youre in the area, I recommend you stop by for a visit then see the outside places where it all went down. Its one thing to read about it but when you see it with your own eyes, you understand how foolhardy it was to try and rob two banks at once.

A small, eclectic museum with an emphasis on the demise of the notorious Dalton Gang. Dont miss the video as an intro to the history behind the museum. They also have artifacts from the turn of the century and information on local celebrities. Limited amount of American Indian history.

So as a pivotal event that was a signal to the end of the Wild West, this museum also offers insight to the way of life in Coffeyville from the founding days to World War Two. Coffeyville as a city is beautiful and more people and businesses would do well to come and explore, I would also say that ita a great place to live in and grow!

I really enjoyed this museum. They are so knowledgeable and passionate! I brought my mother, who isnt very passionate about old west outlaws and shoot outs, but she left with a new interest in the history of our countrys rough and tumble past. Im looking forward to stopping in again!

New location with more space. Very cool history of south east Kansas. Quiet community of people that stood up against outlaws and won. Nice 45 minute video and a lot of old memorabilia. Ishams hardware that armed citizens is still open and doing business after all these years. Very good to see 100 year old business.

Small but subsequent museum of not only the story of the Dalton Gang and their ill fated raid on Coffeyville, but also highlights Coffeyville history, notable residents and regional stories. You can opt to watch a History Channel documentary on the Dalton Gang and the raid, however it is long. You can easily spend a couple of hours going through all the documents, pictures and walking through downtown to follow the Daltons downfall. However, I would not recommend this place to young children as there are numerous instances of the Dalton Gangs death photos throughout the museum.
