It was beautiful. The staff was friendly and the show was hilarious. Great view no matter where you sit (I was at the top last row). I loved it and I loved the show. Im definitely going back but this time I want next level down.

This theater is great because of its small size. No bad seats. The stage is also specially made with rotating sections for quick scene changes, and a few other creative elements. Right now, they also have the Festival of Trees. Its beautiful and we even heard the Singing Angels perform before the show. Finally, there are also several photo opportunities for fun Christmas shots.

Another great theater in the playhouse square district. Very small and cozy which makes for an intimate show. I saw A Christmas Story there and was very comfortable and enjoyed myself immensely. Foyer is neat and spacious. Great place to see a show.

A wonderful theater, seating is comfortable. We saw Native Gardens, a fun short play. The theater is a must see in Cleveland.

Always a great time. Theater is small and cozy with a more intimate feel. Attended Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood, the cast enjoyed themselves which made for a more enjoyable time for the audience. Tech Nights and Talksbacks and the the experience with intimate discussions and inside looks with staff, cast and other audience members.

We attended the Allen theater to see the stage production of A Christmas story. Very comfortable seating my smaller theater plenty of concessions to purchase food and drinks from. The Christmas tree display was very nice. Overall very enjoyable experience.

Most recently remodeled of the major phayhouse square theatres. Seats are more comfortable than those in the other theatres.Lobby has a more modern style than the others.

Clue is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I love the intimacy that the smaller Allen theater. Cleveland Playhouse has stepped up their game this season

Fantastic theatre performance. God awful administration. I went to purchase food at intermission. While waiting in a twenty person line, the manager himself directed me to an alternate concession stand 5 minutes before intermission ended. Purchased my $20 popcorn and pretzel and rushed back to the theatre food in hand only to be told I couldnt bring the food inside. This was the first time I was alerted to this fact as there are no signs posted anywhere in the theatre or at the concession stands nor is it posted in the playbill (pictured) or any mention of it made in the various preshow or intermission announcements. So I abandoned the food and told the usher I would need my money back following the performance. After the show (which again was fantastic) ended, I went to speak with the manager who gave a series of excuses and claimed there were signs everywhere that said no food was allowed in. This was a lie as there are no signs at the concession stand (pictured) and no employees of the concession stands mentioned anything about the food not being allowed into the theatre at time of purchase.He flat out refused to give a refund and suggested I just call the following monday to complain and maybe they would grace me with a refund or perhaps a discount on future shows. Not terribly helpful since Im not from Cleveland nor have any plans to return. So now Im left with the only choice being to file a complaint with my credit card company and leave this one star review that would have otherwise been a five star night.On the way out I passed a guy with a bag of popcorn, I asked him if they let him into the theatre with it and he said yea they just made me close it so I guess the rules are selectively enforced.To the administration: I will remove this review if I receive my money back as long as the refund is given willingly and not as the result of the credit card company reversing the charges. Until then Ill be copying this review to every review platform I can find. If you wont alert your patrons in a timely manner that food will not be allowed in to your performances then I will.

Socks and now I have been there for plays at the theater which are usually spectacular Productions Gunther first class performance. Were there today for the viewing of the Christmas trees that they have throughout the entire Lobby which are spectacular and were seeing for Christmas.

Great venue, not a bad seat in the house. Much more intimate theatre than some of the other big ones in Playhouse Square.

The Broadway Buzz before each Broadway Series shows is awesome (upper Allen). Its free and so informative on the back story of the shows and people involved. Went for the first time for The Bands Visit and now cant believe we havent gone for every show!

Attended the play entitled, Into the Breeches. The play was Awesome! The issues in the play correlate with the same issues present in society today. For example, loved ones away at war, the civil liberties and rights of minority citizens,p and the rights of citizens based on their identity gender preference as well as sexual orientation. Truly a mystery see...

The allen theater proved more than adequate for the clue show. The show was very entertaining and the sets were impressive and well handled.

Chose to purchase tickets for the play Native Gardens showing at the Allen Theatre. What a great production! The Allen, like all of the Cleveland Playhouse Theaters, is spectacular! The staff, from ticket office, to gift shop, bar and concessions and ushers (whom I believe are all volunteers) are very helpful, upbeat and friendly! Check out the season ticket options as they offer the opportunity to see some great shows at very affordable pricing options!

Great venue! Acoustics are amazing. Saw Clue and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Theater was way too hot temperature wise and was very disappointed that it was not more handicapped-accessible had to walk up three flights of stairs to get to seats so if you have older loved ones or someone that is disabled this is not the place for you with someone with crutches then was told after we were at the top that we could have taken the elevator that was down the hall but was still quite a walk was not impressed and will not go back

Clue was absolutely hilarious. All the seats in the theatre have a great view!

Excellent acoustics, sight lines, intimate historic, old school theater. Enjoyed Maxwell concert here in 2009. Great concert and tremendous venue for music and the ability to get closer to the performer. Highly recommend this venue. Cleveland Rocks!

Attended the Come From Away. Just a great presentation. The Buzz event was great. I actually dropped my keys in the theatre and was able to quickly retrieve them from the office staff. . Sure to return.

We saw a production of Clue February 6th at the beautiful Allen Theater. I havent seen this facility since it was converted to the legitimate theater it is now.

We love CPH. Great shows. This week we saw Into the breeches. A very funny and thought provoking show.

I went to see Christmas Story Thursday night and not only was the show good. The theater is decked out in Christmas trees. All the trees are beautiful.Now let me tell you about the staff, my clutch feel between the seats and when I got up i picked up my phone, the program and we left our box seats. We took pictures in the lobby and had a wonderful time. We left the theater chatting and happy. My great-niece sssa she was a little hungry so we stopped for a bite to eat, thats when I discovered my wallet was gone.I called first thing in the morning and again a little later. I was on the phone with Glen the kind security guy who said they had just brought up a wallet. I was so relieved and happy. Picked it up before noon. I hope the person that turned it in has a very Merry Christmas as the card said. You have restored my faith in us as humans. Thank you.Cleveland is lucky to have the Playhouse and the Playhouse is lucky to have people like you.

Im from St Louis so Im used to going to the fox or Powell Hall for performances. Allen theater is charming, and intimate. And I felt like I could connect with not only other guest but also the actors. I would recommend seeing a show or two here.

Great preformance and even better staff! CSU students get in for free so it was worth it. $$$

Show was amazing. Theater is really interesting, with a very neat dome, definitely worth checking out.

Its the perfect size theater. No matter where you sit from the balcony to the back row youll get a good view of the theater stage no matter where your at. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend going early if its a very popular show gets kind of cramped.

We are season ticket holders for the 3rd season. We love the quality of the shows in Cleveland. Also, we strongly recommend the pre show talk, The Broadway Buzz
