Took about an hour and a half at a good pace. Clean and well maintained. They charge for parking...$5 and I think $7 on weekend...which is not a lot for a single visit but would be to make this your regular work hike on a regular basis. Yet....as a resident of California feel like really....yet another fee grab by a public sector entity to get money......we are already overwhelmed with fees and you cant use the Adventure pass and NPS pass. Its a nice hike.....

Which side of the loop should you go left or right? If you go on the right side you will be going mostly straight up for about 2 miles, then downhill except for one more small up hill test If you go on the left side, the incline is more gradual with some valleys. However it would take you longer to reach the peak.

Be prepared for lots of up and down hills. Not much shade. Depending on which way you start you either start or end with shade, then the opposite near the end. Expect to spend at least 1.5-2 hours there if youre just strolling along. Paid parking as well. $5 for 4 hours.

Nice wide hard packed trails. Great for hiking and biking. Get there early in the warmer months and weekends. The trail gets quite busy. Bring water in the warm months. It gets very warm. Be careful when bringing dogs because it can get very hot and there is not much shade and only water at the parking lot. Also sometimes rattlesnakes are spotted so keep your dog on a leash. If you bike please use a bell on your bike. And wear a helmet. You can come up on hikers very quickly and a lot of corners are hard to see around due to brush. IMO bikes and hikers should go in opposite directions on the trail. That way they will always face each other when they meet. There will be no more surprise bike scares from behind as they bomb down the downhill sections. Also please be courteous and share the trail with everyone. Try not to walk 3 or 4 abreast and take up the whole trail. Some people run it and its nice to not have to go out of your way to get around a group of people. Especially when going uphill.

Nice trails when open--they often arent, and google reviews keeps posting that they are open (as in the time of this writing). They have been postponing the opening every few days. Best to go to the Claremont City website, they post whether the trails are currently open or closed, but dont rely on the scheduled opening--it comes and goes with no opening.

Lovely place to take a hike..There is a parking fee (small like $5) to pay with a meter. Before you start the trail there is a water station for you and your dogs to drink water and a restroom to use. There is two trails to take a 3 mile and a 5 mile.If you are sensitive to heat, go early in the morning around 6 -9. After 9 am, the heat can be felt. Later in the day around 1 or so, I suggest to bring lots of water and a snack for the puppers.Bring water for the pups in the summer as the heat gets to them and remember to keep them on a leash and clean up after them. There is trash cans set around the trail. The views here are very beautiful especially when reaching the top. I enjoy the quietness in the morning and the sound of the birds. These pics are of two different days. Enjoy your trip!

$5.00 for parking on weekdays, $7.00 on weekends. If you stick to following the posts with the marked miles you get a 5 mile hike that brings you right back to the start. There are cameras in the parking lot as well as a few porter potties. Signs posted warn of mountain lions. On this day we saw adult deer. They come out went it rains to drink from the puddles. Somebody decorated a tree like a Christmas tree. Walk or run this 5 mile trail a few times a week and if you watch your diet, your guaranteed to lose weight and build some calf muscle.

The entire trail is five miles long with some steep inclines. Very enjoyable and you dont have to walk the entire trail. There are port-o-potties at two spots along the trail along with benches scattered throughout. Parking is $5 during the week but $7 on the weekends. Also, the fee is only good for 4 hours but that is more than enough time. One can also mountain bike the trail as well. All in all, it was fun and Ill be doing this again

I had never experienced something like this, its horrible, I tried to distract my children from getting out of the routine during covid 19, we went for a walk, we parked in the closest part. The Gate was open I could take my ticket, we started going up, we went down at 6:20 and what was our surprise, a ticket for$ 50.00 plus the closed gate. without light all desolate other 4 people together with me in the nort parking. Excuse me but that is very unpleasant. If they already gave us the ticket, why close the gate? Why not wait for people, why is there a forest ranger? very bad very sad because years ago it was and was my favorite place. Not any more how can support with all this crisis like that. I cant take my kids early because they are in class .

About 2.5 Miles up and then 2.5 Miles down. Scrub scenery. 5 dollars to park during the week. Its okay. Not much shade. Saw a couple birds and squirrels, but otherwise no wildlife. We went about 1030 am. Maybe early morning or end of day would be more interesting.

This trail is hands down the best!! Im so glad its finally open again. It will be a challenge for beginners as due to current circumstances they force everyone to go up the right side so the initial climb is steeper, however there are plenty of rest points to catch your breath and stretch out. Tons of places to snap your photos for the gram or snap or whatever social media you want as well. Amazing views the entire trail!!!! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will finish the trail!! Enjoy!!

Amazing trail! The city really cares about this park and it shows, trails are well kept, dog friendly amenities, maps, trail markers, gorgeous views, all of which are nested right past suburbia. Id say if you have a furry friend come on and bring them on down, my golden absolutely loved the trail! Just remember to clean up after the four legged friend!Parking is paid and the machines dont take cash so bring plastic! The trail is pretty family friendly so you can bring your strollers and little ones! The trail is shared with bikers so be aware of them coming down at a rate of speed.

Family friendly, well-groomed hiking trail in Claremont. There’s a paid parking lot ($5 on weekdays and $7 on weekends for four hours; credit cards accepted). There’s also an overflow lot but the main parking lot is pretty big. They’re open during coronavirus but masks are required (please wear your masks!! There were unfortunately a lot of people not wearing masks). The trail is only open one way so you have to take the right when you begin (although clearly some people can’t read the writing on the green arrows). There’s three porta potties at the trailhead and the porta potties on the trail we’re all closed. It’s uphill but it’s not too steep. Note that there is very little shade and it gets quite hot, so bring a lot of water. Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail.

Greener than usual, monkey flowers in bloom. Well try to get there at 6 next time

Great gem in Claremont and my go to if I dont have a ton of time to drive far or if Im not looking for a crazy adventure but still want to get a good hike in! Only a 10 min drive from the colleges and its a 5 mile loop so its a decent hike!! Not the hardest of hikes but you still feel like youre getting a workout in. Its also easy to do less mileage if you want and to turn around and go back down. There are two paths at the start, so whichever one you pick to go up, youll wind up coming down the other. Ive done this trail multiple times during a wide range of hours and its never terribly crowded! Really great trail to go with a friend or group of friends or to bring your dog along for :)

There is a 5 mile track that loops around or you can do the shorter 1 mile hike which requires you to turn back. I recommend sticking to the path and following the signs for people who prefer straight forward trails. Beautiful hill views from all heights and angles!

First and foremost the parking: It’s tricky. City of Claremont doesn’t have any public parking near this trail. You basically have to hit the parking lotto with the two busy mini lots. $3 pass worth it.Claremont hills wilderness park is a lovely 5 mi loop that starts off through a shady forest before it opens up to a scorching sandy ascent. It’s a great workout and you have amazing views of the inland empire and on a clear day (rare) you can even see the shore line and downtown los angeles!

Parking is $5 on weekdays and $7 on weekends. Especially the fat couch potato dogs. & then these people wonder why their dogs are throwing up & end up at the vet because of heat strokes. Also these same people dont clean up after their dogs. For these poor animals health & safety they shouldnt be allowed on this hike. IMO.Leave your pets at home.

Claremont Hills Wilderness Park is a great place to hike for those who like light to moderate trails. The place is well maintained and have toilet cabins located in multiple areas of the trail. We started our hike early, 6:30 am, which in the summer is great because the fog is just settling on the sierra mountain floor creating beautiful shadows when the sun hits the horizon. There were still a lot of beautiful wild flowers in bloom at the time. Being that the trail is light to moderate, you can definitely bring your kids and pets. Its a place that everyone will definitely enjoy.
