Took a final stroll around the beautiful grounds of the Cincinnati Zoo before the opening of the Festival of Lights on Friday afternoon. Lots of animal activity including Fiona the hippest of hippos and a ball of cozy meerkats. The lights looked great in the daylight so they should be dazzling in the dark. Go and enjoy this wonderful icon of Cincinnati. You will not be disappointed.

Okay keep in mind it is the time of Covid-19. Getting to the zoo and getting in the zoo was fine. However once in the zoo its a very different story. There are areas marked to wear masks however they have no one in theses area, minus the kangaroo/blue penguin exhibit, to hold people accountable. Therefore you are 50/50 at BEST of people following any protocol in the park. Im being generous here. As for the park it was nice. Id suggest either early morning to go when it is slightly cooler. More animals will be active unlike when we went around 2pm and it got hot 80+. Most animals were either sleeping or in the shade. Also you pay for parking as you leave. Since this was our first time and I pre-paid I was a bit confused. All in all a good time. Really would have been tough with more people though.

Loved the Zoo & animals!! Food trucks had a lot yo be desired, hamburger & bun was cold...the staff that worked at the food trucks were not knowledgeable of what sauces were. Chicken was large enough to share for 2...it would be nice if they would either show how ample they were or have staff know. But that was the only disappointment. Beautiful Zoo!!

Had a lovely experience visiting the zoo with an infant and toddler. The facilities were well kept and precautions were set in place in response to COVID-19. The train was cleaned between every trip, masks were required indoors and in high traffic areas and food ordering was online. It wasnt crowded thanks to having to reserve your visiting time online ahead of time. Would recommend for a family outing!

There is no question that this is the best zoo in the North East and possibly the country. This zoo is beautifully landscaped well maintained and all the exhibits are incredibly well managed and natural. All of the animals are active alert healthy and comfortable. Many of them interacting with guests. I love the educational information at each exhibit and credit to donations. Due To the pandemic a few small areas are closed or have barriers but they do not inhibit the over all experience. You can easily spend the whole day here and is safe for young children. I got there early and also like how they are only selling so many tickets per hour and you must book ahead on line it really cuts down on the crowds and I hope that they continue to sell tickets this way. It makes for a much more enjoyable time not having to battle crowds

During this pandemic I think the Zoo did an excellent job of keeping distances and having constant hand sanitizer stations. In fact, masks were not required as long as you were separated from other people. However in the high traffic area masks were required. Only problem we had was a group of children left unsupervised who started licking door handles for fun. That was.... something.

This is a great Zoo.Getting parked and finding the lot in general when we arrived was a bit of a pain and should be marked better, but, once out of the car and up the escalators to get in The Zoo, a very pleasant experience. It is incredibly relaxing, well laid out, and absolutely beautiful. The mixture of the gardens and trees with the exhibits make it seem like an oasis and the exhibits here are some of the absolute best Ive seen. Animals have ample space and dont seem cluttered, at all.Nice Covid19 guidelines in place that I felt like most of the staff and general population was observing. Reservation times to enter was nice and non touch ticket scan worked out well.Prices for food and drinks were reasonable. Finally got to meet famous Fiona.A great zoo, well worth the price of admission.

Wonderful. Got to see the baby which is not much a baby anymore. We were also able to see her and BB get hand feed, very cool. The up close with the kangaroos was a great addition! Only sad part was how little the snake tanks are. My pregnant wife was crying for those poor snakes. Feeding the giraffes was pretty cool as well. The elephant looked so bored and sad. But it is captivity so it is what is expected. Over all had a great day. Thank you to all the amazing staff members during this time.

The Zoo itself was clean and fun. And we LOVE getting to see Fiona. However, the train ride is a joke. They put up plexiglass between seats but then still skipped every other one so it took us 1.5 hours to get through the line and off the train which caused us to miss part of the zoo before closing... however, the worst part (besides missing part of the zoo) was the rudeness of the train staff. One guy rudely told me husband to pull up his face mask even though he was clearly drinking his drink. So much so that he called security because he refused to pull up his mask until he was done and then the guy proceeded to tell him that when security got there they would be sure to escort him out of the park. There were several other people who did not have on mask either but they were never confronted about it. And if that wasnt bad enough, the conductor driving the train yelled at me as she was driving by to pull mine up even though I was pulling my cup away from my mouth to swallow my drink. The lady beside me was in shock from her calling me out how she did. We had no problems wearing the mask. We wore them when we were suppose to but the rudeness from the staff was wrong and to pin point us even though there were others was wrong. The 1st guy even made my 4 year old cry because of the way he was talking to my husband. He was really scared after the guy came back and told my husband he would have to leave that he (my 4 year old) was gonna have to leave too and was going to jail. We had to calm him down and tell him that was not the case. So... I know covid sucks. I know that the zoo is short staffed and I know they probably get tired of saying the same things over and over... but dont be so rude next time. Still gave a 4 star rating because we do love the zoo!

There were a few things we wanted to see and do, that we couldnt due to Covid, but it didnt deter us from having fun! We took in the Cheetah Painting and Purrs encounter (with our artist Tommy T). It was AMAZING!! To get to see one of the cheetahs up close and personal was beyond compare! And the paw print painting was the icing on the cake!! This zoo is super hilly so wear good walking shoes! Since it’s COVID time, they are asking people to wear face masks and to be mindful of other people. The famous baby Fiona Hippo lives here! Her exhibit is tucked away deep in the African Safari zone, so dont miss the turn as youll miss it. Went during covid times, had to buy the tickets at a time slot. I went at 1pm, zoo closes at 5pm, and walked around the full zoo and rode the train. 4 hours is adequate amount of time to see the zoo as some exhibits were closed. I ate before entering the zoo to help stay away from people in lines for food and drinks. I brought a full 24oz water bottle and it was exactly enough me, hopefully for you as well. Zoo enforces the mask rule at the areas that are marked mask wearing zone. I wore a mask the full time in 82° sunny hot, zero clouds in the sky and was fine. Irony was many people who didnt wear masks were the ones at high risk of the virus, heavy set older folks. There are hand sanitizer stations at every entrance and exit of an exhibit. A lot of the animals that were displayed were all relaxing due to the weather. Its a great walkable zoo. If youre a Pokemon go fan and enjoy many gyms and stops this is a great place for you. Very family and baby cart friendly paths and many powered wheel chairs available for use if your member of the group needs one.

The train was running but the line was really long. There were hand sanitizer stations spread throughout the zoo.The zoo was not enforcing the mask or six feet of distance. Obviously it would be impossible to police the entire zoo but in high traffic areas there was no one that i saw trying to keep people separated or wearing their masks. Went there recently and was super disappointed at the lack of mask enforcement by the zoo. No one to monitor high traffic areas such as the giraffe, gorilla and hippo viewing areas and there are so many people at one time in those areas without masks hovering over you and each other to look at the animals. I was petrified. The zoo was packed like a regular day(I am not sure if they are limiting visitors like they are saying) cause people go in and they dont count the number coming out. So people are hanging out all day at the zoo and more and more people keep going in! And you see all over the zoo people walking around without masks, walking by you, walking close to you and not maintaining the 6 ft distance. It was scary to go with my child and I am never going back. Cancelled my membership as well! Cincinnati zoo you need to do better.

Masks were required in certain areas of the park, but for the most part we didn’t have to wear them which was nice since we were mostly outside.I was really excited to see that this is the zoo that houses Fiona! I have followed her on Facebook since she was born, and it was really cool to see her in person. They had areas where you could normally feed certain animals like giraffes, and animals in the petting zoo. But those were all closed off due to COVID as well. Props to the park for keeping everyone safe during this time. There was a brand new baby rhino that did not have a name yet.Manatee exhibit was closed, and that was disappointing. We were hoping to see that.We only had a couple of hours to get through the entire zoo before they closed. We made a last minute decision to stop here on our way to Gatlinburg from Michigan. When you’re driving to the zoo, it doesn’t feel like you’re in the best area of town. My son loves his Fiona the Hippo book so I looked online and saw that the best hours to visit were between 3-5pm because that is when the hippos are most active. So we bought tickets for 3:00-3:30. By the time we got across the street an into the zoo it was like 3:30. We visited all the animals along the way and saw Fiona and her mom, Bibi! That was great. But basically, not long after it was closing time at 5:00. I thought I read somewhere to plan 1-2 hours for the trip and this definitely wasnt enough, especially with small children. We should have come much earlier and taken a long lunch break and gone to the hippos after that. It was a nice zoo, a little more expensive than I wanted hut apparently if you buy tickets out farther they are cheaper. We bought ours a few days in advance because we were watching covid stats and didnt want them to go to waste if we couldnt go. We will definitely go back if we are in the area. Also, a lot of enclosures were empty because it was too cold for the animals in October and then some of the indoor enclosures were closed due to covid and not being able to space out enough. So, take that into consideration because when I emailed asking what enclosures were open or closed they didnt mention the ones that were closed due to the temperature.

I have had to file a claim with PayPal because they offer prepaid parking on their website but upon entrance and exit they dont scan QR codes so basically your parking is free and I never saw payment taken from anyone else. Their excuse is well you parked in our lot so your payment is valid yea.... But why should I have to pay when others dont? Will we visit again? Probably.. will I pay for advance parking again? These animals need natural lighting and not be locked inside with a sky looking painted ceiling. One of the ducks was swimming rapidly back and forth in the tub of water in that room. They looked distressed. I really hope they will do something more appropriate for these poor animals. We also observed an arctic fox which was totally distressed running along a small side of a fence trying to get out...I watched him for 20 minutes and all he did was run back and forth and just try to climb the fence at each end. We enjoyed all shows especially the cheetah encounter where you can see a cheetah running at the highest speed. The 4D theater is below average and not recommended if you expect a good experience. The kids enjoy giraffe feeding. The train ride is also enjoyable though it’s self guided. Overall a place worth spending full day with family.

I have not planned a trip to the CINCINNATI Zoo and Botanical gardens as of yet. What I can see from a street view point it looks to me really beautiful, if you and your love ones are planning day of animal name games, or flower to plants search games, I suggest going to the zoo. This place is so nostalgic to me I must go as well.

Animals seemd well taken care of and most of them had really nice habitats to live in. The train, gorillas, kangaroos and hippos were our favorites, just wish we could have seen the baby rhino and manatees. Overall a very pretty and enjoyable zoo!
