Great equipment and friendly service. There are some meatheads so be aware of intimidation bias. The membership is pretty steep but you get access to the gym, basketball courts, and pool so it works itself out.

Overall a nice campus decent atmosphere. The covid situation is being handled decently here, although the online classes are a bit of a struggle.

Gym staff members followed me around the gym harassing me in March, claiming it was because I had left a coat on the ground, when in reality it was probably because I am Asian American during the covid pandemic. Gym staff then retaliated by putting a note in their system saying that I cant use the gym anymore. They will be very lucky if they dont see a huge lawsuit coming their way

This Is a great place to work out and have a good time. Theres plenty of machines, 6 basket ball courts, a rock wall, a great pool, and a lot more. Definitely a great part of campus, I go about 5 times a week.

The UC rec center is great, if youre a student at UC. Great selection of lifting machines, free weights, free rock climbing, leisure pool and one for swimming laps, indoor track, multiple basketball courts, and lots of of services like personal trainers and group exercise classes. However, if you arent a student its pretty expensive, usually very crowded and if youre commuting off campus its fairly far from most of the garages. If youre not a student Id recommend just going to another gym.

Im regular member of UC Rec Center. Its one of the best REC Center I have been to. Its little expensive than other places but at the same time it has most advance machines in the market. Machines are quite well maintained as well and the timing is perfect for everyone.

Love going here. The place is huge and the facilities are amazing. It gets pretty busy during the school year, but the summer isn’t bad and breaks are pretty dead. The full size lap pool seems to always have a lane open. The lounge pool is never crowded, including the hot tub.Been to the rock wall a few times. It’s included in my package and I love the easy access. Hours are a little weird though.

Regarding birthday party rentals of the rec pool area and the gym - you can rent the lazy river/rec pool area, gym, and/or climbing wall for 2-3 hour events. My child celebrated a birthday party with his school classmates and everyone absolutely loved it! The CRC staff provides a party host/hostess to help you navigate and keep the party events flowing smoothly. Definitely a memorable experience for all of the kids and parents as well.

This center is nice and clean, but some of their instructors do not seem to understand what it means to lead a gym class. They seem to take it as a time to exercise themselves. They do not take the time to really show the participants how to do the movements, they do not check that they are doing the right thing. They do not seem to care. They just stay at the front and do the movement super fast... I did the Pounds class, and the Zumba class just this week. This is the first week of the semester so many are new to these classes, or should be assumed so. The instructors in both classes would show a move or a series of moves for 4-5 seconds then start doing them... really? And these are fast moves in series, not like showing abs or some stretching position.... It was very very frustrating, and I left both classes before the end.Someone needs to explain to these instructors that they are there to teach, not show off what they know how to do.

It lives upto its name of one of the best Rec Centers in the country. I dont say this just because Im a student here, but because I have visited quite a few Rec Centers in universities around the country where some friends are at, and UC will literally beat some of the best schools when it comes to athletic infrastructure. It houses three basketball courts, umpteen private courts, volleyball courts, aquatic centre and courts for intramural sports and is divided into 3 floor levels. It also includes mountain climbing wall, which to be frank is quite difficult to scale. The workers are amazing and some of the most helpful people youll find around. Kudos to the team! Go Bearcats!

UCs rec center is my favorite gym in Cincinnati! Im seriously impressed by how clean the facility is. They replace all of the equipment at least every two years, so Ive rarely run into issues with broken machines. My only complaint is that is gets super busy from 4-7pm so I have at least a 10 minute wait for each weight machine.

Review №45

Run as a rec center should be run. They test the waters regularly so you dont feel nervous in the pool or the sauna.

Great facility in terms of design. Lack of childcare facilities and student employees that dont make anyone rerack their weights properly are a minus.

an
Review №47

The actual free weight equipment is trash. Most of money was probally spent on the planet fitness equipment that is all over the gym. No Olympic lifts? A bunch of bulkshit rules for something they force you to pay for in one of the contracts they screw you on. An optimistic person would say its okay, but for what your paying for its a scam.

The actually gym part of the rec is horrible! Who ever designed it probably never made a gym before. They are doing the best they can but this place is horrendous. Its over crowded 80% of the time and you are not allowed to do certian things (mind you they are part of workouts). No powerlifting (insane) or no super high box jumps (how am I suppose to work on my virtical). Silly rules when people are trying to better themselves. The rig is cool but gym is still super crowded. Staff is fine but upper management there wont let anything change. People have millions of ideas to make the place cool but they are all shot down by upper management stick in the mud ideas.

The University of Cincinnati Rec center is rated one if the topportunity rec centers in America for a reason. I have been going to the rec center for 3 years now and the only problem I have ever had is waiting for machines when it is crowded. With a rec center like this, of course everybody is going to want to come here! They have all of the workout equipment you could ever want, plus the facility stays very clean and judgement free. The UC Rec Center is also pleasing to the eyes which is just a big bonus. Love this place!
