Great state park, nice walking/biking trail along the lake. None of the spots are actual waterfront, the lake is too far down and lots of trees in the way. This isnt a bad thing, just an information point. Sites 41-60 seem to have less trees, a bit more open, dont worry, theres still a lot of trees. Sites 1-40 have more of a canopy tree thing going on. None of the sites have water or sewer, but there is a dump station with potable water at the entrance area. Some spots have electric and some have no hook ups. Double check before you make the reservation. Anyway, we would definitely stay here again. 2 hooves up

We have been going to Lake Wissota State Park on Labor day weekend for the past 28 years. We love the park. Sites are secluded by under growth, so somewhat private. Park is dated in some areas but they improve it every year. Looking forward to the new shower room/bathroom.

Campgrounds are clean showers are hot. The hiking and biking trails are beautiful and well groomed. The beach is not as great as i would have hoped, but it looks like they are redoing it so there is hope. I was able to back a 28 foot 5th wheel into what looked like one of the tighter spots with relative ease.

The park itself with all the walking trails and the beautiful campground sites made it a five star. What bothered my wife and I was the beach was extremely green and maybe thats due to the time of year. And we boated Wissota and we were actually pushing up green water on the side of the boat. Again maybe the time of the year.

This is a great state park for just getting away and camping or hiking trails or riding bikes. The only downside was there was not a lot of good spots to take kids fishing on what is really an awesome lake. Overall this is a really nice state park.

All good except for people that dont understand how boat landings work! It is a 2 lane boat landing so very good there if people would move their boats off the dock. Otherwise nobody can land. To them the line starts in the water to get out not from the trucks lined up at the turn around.

Great campsite with older but clean facilities. Flush toilets and shower and hot water. Sandy soil allows rainwater to drain quickly which was great! No mud at all. Too many spiders for me. When we were here in October it seemed much better. No bugs or spiders. The lake itself seems to be great for fishing. I didnt care for the color of the water and was not excited to have my children swimming in it.

Had a great time this weekend!! My buddy and I had our first camping adventure together. We have enjoyed the day use areas and swimming beach before, but have never camped. The sites are awesome with a wide variety of sizes great shade and privacy. Trail access everywhere!! Very nice facilities you dont have to go far for water, restrooms, or showers. The staff was very friendly and helpful! They have ice, wood, kayak, and conoe rentals, swimming beach, fishing areas, and of course hiking trails (most trails are multi-use). Again a wonderful time cant wait for our next visit.

Camping here is surprising peaceful, even when most sites are occupied. Also surprising is the complete absence of raccoons. The beach is soggy and muddy, but not terrible. If youre going to swim, this isnt a problem. They are planning to renovate the beach.Of course, due to covid, the office and nature centre are closed. Also as of June 2020 they are not selling firewood. There are many places to buy it outside the park though. Prices in the area vary a lot, so look around before buying. There is a gas station with a very nice convenience store, even with beer, wine, and liquor, just a few miles away. About a fifteen minute drive from the park there is a laundromat (attached to a car wash) next to a Kwik Trip. I found it rather difficult to coax Google into revealing this.

Awful. Besides not informing us on time about updated restrictions regarding COVID-19, when we went to cancel our reservation they would not refund the whole amount and added a cancellation fee of $5.They should have a policy that is consistent with the ongoing situation and allow individuals to plan according to unforeseen circumstances. We tried calling them but the wait time was 45 minutes. I do not think we will ever set foot in this camping ground.

Each site has a picnic table and fire pit ring with grill.A limited number of drive though sites are available. Less than half of the sites had electricity and the non electricity sites are suitable for tent camping. Entry to site is angled so you can see into the site while parking the camper.Potable water is available at the pump out station.Electricity is pedestal mounted with four 15 amp outlets and one 30 amp outlet. The sites are separated by mature pines and Ash with dense brush under the trees.Firewood and ice are available for sale in a building near the park headquarters. Our site was gravel for camper parking and the rest is bare ground with soft areas that were probably caused by campers who didnt collect their gray water.A nice ramp at the launch area. Overhanging limbs make launching sailboats with the masts up challenging.Hiking and bicycle trails are available. The Park attendants were courteous and firewood is available from the park monitor camper when the park office is closed.Restraunt and supermarkets are less than 15 minutes away.

This park has been one of my favorite places to visit and for camping! The grounds are kept in nice condition and the views of Lake Wissota are beautiful! The campground has many sites with a lot of character. The staff has always been friendly. The downside is that there isnt anything overly special about the park. No bluffs. No waterfalls. Lots of places to bike and hike from camp. We fished from a few docks, but didnt catch anything. They had fishing gear to use for free if you left contact info which was really great. We were greeted by a camp host which we thought was a nice touch. She had a Dutch oven demonstration one night which we didnt make it to because we were swimming. The swimming area was a bit shallow, but it was fun. We did a hike through some pines and the path was lined with wild strawberries the size of small blueberries ( we visited mid June). They also have poison ivy, but lots of signs posted showing what it looks like. Overall great experience. Book early if you want or need electrical hookup. Bathrooms were fairly clean, but I think someone left a door open because it was a little buggy although there were not many mosquitoes at all. Plenty of daddy long legs but I dont mind those.

A very relaxing, perhaps even to say your own little world feel. The campsites are catered to the more minimalist campers, with most only having the fire pit with a grate. there are very few sites with power or water. The restrooms were not particularly clean while we were there last. (27- 29/7/18) every site was full, so it was overused. Its not always that busy. The restrooms and showers are out of date basically. The site fees are cheap though and you can bring your dogs Unless you have a dog that barks then I dont want you to come. My family and I go here all the time and I dont want to listen to your dang dog yap all night..

Meh. The actually park was gorgeous, and the reason I am giving it three stars is because of the information welcome center staff, the incredible nature center and the tall grass prairie. Sites are big and well maintained. The bathrooms were a bit sketchy, but not unmanageable. Be prepared to be talked to before quiet hours on a weekend about noise. The camp manager talked to us before 8PM about our music playing while we were eating (quiet enough that we could hear her talking to us from the road in a near whisper) and our voices. Quiet hours are at 11PM. Between 6-8PM a campsite of adults should be able to converse and listen to music on a Saturday without being talked to. Rockfest was also going on this weekend, which was so loud we could hear the music from miles away, but our conversations were apparently “too loud for the family that has been coming here for 7 years in a row.” Not sure I would recommend.

We went to Lake Wissota State Park because I read that they had a pet beach area. The beach was a good size and nice and shallow for my toddler, however, pets are not allowed in the actual beach area. This made it difficult for my family as we have a toddler, newborn, and a golden retriever. There is a nice shady spot to the right of the beach with some picnic tables that is designated for pets on leashes. You can take pets in the water at the boat launch - you cant see the beach from the boat launch, but you can from other spots of the pet area. The changing rooms/bathrooms were very large, clean, and new looking, I liked them very much. We didnt camp or hike, so I cant comment on those parts of the park.Overall, we were able to make it work, but it wasnt an ideal situation. Pets are allowed in all the WI State parks, so its frustrating that you cant bring them to the beaches.

Its a beautiful Park beautiful location and old Abe State trail is gorgeous with Immaculate asphalt Trail however when I went to the state park clean up after riding I was disappointed to find that theres no showers at the beach if you wanted to rinse off after being in the water and the showers at the campground clearly state that theres a hundred and $125 fine for using them if you are not a registered camper. I was willing to pay five bucks to shower after 36 miles on the bike trail especially since there are no bathrooms on the trail. But no, there are no options for noncampers to shower at Lakewood Toyota State Park even if you have an annual state park and annual state trail pass unless you were willing to pay the 20 to camp overnight and thats only if theres actually a campsite available
