We went in November, it was damp, grey, dark and empty, but very winter pretty. Pit toilets but clean. The hiking and forests were very nice. Also near some nicer preserves. The bad was that the non- electric sites had water shut off. The State or worse the States reservations contractor charged us $20 extra to move from one empty campground to another empty campground with water. Next off season trip well just move and risk it. Also note, this campgrounds non electric sites do not allow cars. Kind of cool in a rustic sense but, not if your glamping plan was to have the vehicle handy.

This was one of the most beautiful parks I have ventured! Be prepared to climb essentially amount! It has very steep hills, and it is not for easy walking. However, it was very much enjoyable.

Scioto Trail is our go-to state park for camping and to get away from it all. Its a smaller park with a nice lake and some decent trails. Its right next to the state forest. Every campsite is electric but there are no other hookups. Minus one star for limited services as they only have latrine restrooms, but there are several newer style handicapped accessible ones. Water is available several places throughout the campground. There is a very small store that carries a few essential items. There are also 2 cabins at the end of the campground where it is very quiet. They have nature programs and canoe rentals. Not as flashy as the big parks but great for being close to nature.

Sitting by the water and listening to the breeze in the trees is so relaxing. I have fond memories of picnics, camping, canoeing, hiking, creek walking, and fishing here during childhood.

Great park tucked far back from the highway. Trails were pretty challenging due to the hills, but the atmosphere and price were great. I would definitely recommend Scioto Trail to any of my close friends and relatives.

Dangerous getting on and off to the park entrance due to road construction. US Rt 23 is a very busy highway and motorist travel way beyond the posted speed limit of 55 mph. I would urge campers to go elsewhere at least until the road construction is completed.

Beautiful place for an evening float. The water has a great deal of growth in it and the banks are not as well-maintained as a few years ago, but overall a great place to watch the sun set.

Campground is a little crowded. Our site was gravel, no grass. I liked the trails. My wife said it was too much hill climbing for her.the secondlake is drained. Some of the trails arent maintained, but the closer you are to the lake, the better it is. Woman who runs it is great!

If you do not have an RV or camper do not camp here unless you do a primitive site. Camper city and persons come and go all hours of the night and quite time is not enforced. Aside from the people the park is amazing and offers a lot of outdoor activities. The Naturalist here is awesome and does tons of things for the kids.

I wasnt impressed with the marking of locations (paths, camping etc). This was our first time visiting the park & we had a really hard time finding out where a good location was that we could hike. There werent very many signs posted at all. After driving around for quite a while we located one of the ponds within the park & attempted to hike on what we think was a trail. After 1/2 hour we gave up in fear we were going to end up somewhere we didnt belong. The restrooms were impressively clean & the ones we seen were large enough to be wheelchair accessible. There is ample parking throughout the park. It is definitely family friendly.

My review on Scioto Trails State Park. Just south of Chillicothe Ohio on Route 23. If youre looking for a stress-free, low key, small and friendly campground then I would highly suggest this one. I wanted a small camp ground to break in our new TT. Plus one of our dogs had never been camping before. I wasnt for sure how he would act. It was a great time. The lake is small but they do have some canoes and paddle boats for rent. The main section of the property is just like other campgrounds. You have close neighbors. The side section, before you get to the office is a little more spread out. Ill definitely be going back. I would have to say I like Scioto Trails better than I do Deer Creek. They even had a fire truck show up for the kids.

We went middle of week. It was clean and quiet. Only screamed like a little girl when Mr. Raccoon snuck up onto our table and tried to snatch a hotdog. Guess he wanted to grill as well. Camp store has those forgotten essentials if you need. Loved the walkabout. Lemon-eucalyptus spray was very effective for the mosquitos and noseeums. Didnt swim as the water looked alittle more green than I cared for. Vault toilets were stocked and clean. The ones past the church had a few spiders lurking but I ignored them and they me. I was very pleased with my experience, it was our first time in this camp. There are no flush toilets or showers but we knew that before hand. We will be back!

This is one of the first state parks/forests I went to when I started hiking and camping. Nice little park with some lakes and ponds for fishing, a number of hiking trails including a section of the Buckeye Trail. There are nice camp grounds in the park for tent and RV camping. Its a smaller park but it has a senss of seclusion and has been quite peaceful the couple times Ive been.

We stayed in the Camper Cabins with another family for a few days during the week and we had a pretty good time. The environment is laid back and kid friendly for the most part. The cabins themselves were rustic to say the least, but at least there was electricity, a microwave, and a mini-fridge. There is no running water inside these cabins but there is a pump head about 50ft from the front door...with very low pressure. There also are NO SHOWER FACILITIES AT ALL on camp property. The lake area is relatively small compared to some other state parks but is generally well kept and trash free. We caught a few small fish from the bank and did a little canoeing with the kids. There are also paddle boats for rent by the hour if thats your thing. The reason it got 3 stars was mainly for the lack of shower facilities and ridiculously low water pressure from the pump head, making it difficult to clean dishes and just get a drink. The cabin floor could also use a moping but overall was clean enough for us. There were also locals using the camp property as a cut-through to get to another road on the opposite side of the camp creating higher than normal weekday campground traffic.
