We did the Shawnee trail from the north trailhead and connected to bald hill and back for total 8 miles. In the beginning lots of trail map posts at each intersection and all trees spray painted to let you know you were on the trail. However, when we finished the winding bald hill trail segment there was no map to indicate which way to go. Fortunately took a picture of the map at the trail head and had my compass and all trails app which was able to confirm we chose the right direction as it was imperative we not continue further south on Shawnee and loop back around instead. Trails open to dogs and horses so be prepared to dodge lots of horse feces. Otherwise very peaceful with gentle sloping inclines on Shawnee trail.

This is the Great Seal of Ohio hills. Rolling pathways through gorges and semi wet creek runoff areas. Horse trail to follow too. Great hiking. Trees keep it cool.

Great place for a hike. Very hilly with many different short trails that all make for a fairly strenuous hike. Beautiful tree l covered hills and valleys. Great place to mountain bike, walk with your dog, or ride your horse. Far fewer crowds than Hocking Hills. Highly recommended.

Small park that offers camping, trails, and a small swing set. Also has a nice shelter house if you are looking for one. One trail has psychical challenges set up for you to do. So if your looking for a nice little hike with a workout, this would be a great trail for you.

The park is amazing. The disc golf course is nicely kept and the trails always lead to a new adventure. We went hiking and made a wrong turn and ended up doubling the time but it led to a great time filled with wildlife (deer) and allowed us to appreciate nature

Although the trails are somewhat nice and clear (some of them that is) and when there isn’t a bunch of people, it is nice and quiet to hear nature. One big thing we did not like about this park is, none of the trails are labeled in color and there is barely any maps whatsoever. When we did see a map we went to go down a trail and it was completely covered up that it was no longer accessible. So we made our own trail up, which is somewhat sad for it to be such a popular park. We were lucky it took us somewhere. Also, people have vandalized a few of the signs making it hard to figure out where to go. This place would be amazing if there wasn’t so many unmarked trails not telling you where to go. Maybe I need to try going to the other side of the park to know where we are going next time

This is one of the more challenging hikes close to Columbus. The ridge trail has some decent elevation, and theres 25 miles of trails! The downside is the trails are poorly marked, and dont coincide with the maps, so if you do a loop trail theres a risk of getting lost.

This is an amazing park with some dramatic views. It has a lengthy trail system and nice amenities.I was a little disappointed with the trail markings for the Sugarloaf Mountain trail. There were very few blazes and hardly any signage. This is definitely something that needs addressed. Other than that, I have no complaints. I will definitely be back.

A jewel of the Ohio State Park system, with an extensive network of well-marked trails covering a variety of terrain, including steep hill climbs. At Great Seal, you will mostly be enjoying the forest, as there are few spots with open views (although you will have nice views through the trees in winter). The summit of Sand Hill has interesting rock formations and is a great lunch spot.

Great park, tons of trails, all very well mapped, including a topo map that is very helpful. I did a combination of trails totaled 10 miles with 3000 ft of elevation gain. Pretty remarkable in Center Ohio. The only downside is that most of the trails are bridle trails. If it rained recently make sure you go with a pair of gaiters and waterproof boots.

A very nice state park in the foothills of the Appalachia region. Because this area is very hilly, the trails are fairly challenging. Dont expect a leisurely walk through the woods. The trails are hard-packed dirt, so they can get muddy and slippery after a good rainfall. Some beautiful panoramic views at the tops of the hills. Well worth the climbs. The campground area was closed when I went, so I cant give any kind useful comments on it. I will come back in the spring or summer time to see the full foilage and check out the campground ammenities.
