Millennium Park is filled with a theater, pavilion, and of course the Art Institute! I would leave an entire afternoon (or honestly...day) to roam and love up on this park. Chicago is such an amazing city and this park is really the epicenter of what makes it so special. I cant wait to find myself there on a beautiful day someday soon.

Millennium Park is home to Cloud Gate (or The Bean) and is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. You could spend hours looking at The Bean from every angle and taking photographs. And the views of the city are amazing. There are plenty of paths and walkways to explore also. This is a must-see on any trip to Chicago!

Anything I get to go to Chicago Im overly excited. The only thing I will say is that the tree was much smaller then what I remember seeing when I was younger. Its located right pass the bean this year with purple and blue lights.. There is a lot of shopping and good places to eat nearby if you consider walking down Michigan Ave.

I love Millennium Park. I actually work across the street at the School of the Art Institute—so it’s easy to see why I’ve fallen in love with this part of Chicago. It’s a bit odd being in the Covid era (since the site-seeing crowd has dwindled), but it’s better because I get to experience this gem of a city mostly by myself. Hehe.

Due to covid there were a lot less people than there normally are, and even the area near Cloud Gate is shut off. The sculpture looks beautiful without hundreds of people taking selfies around it. The trees were red, orange, yellow as fall arrived, and overall it was a great experience. Always a treat to visit it during peak Autumn.

Lot to do around here. Beautiful scenery, lots of places to take pictures. You can get a lot of great images at the bean. You could easily spend a half hour to an hour at different angles. The fountain from Married with Children is a close walk, the water is crystal clear, Navy Pier is a nice long scenic walk with the city skyscrapers in the background.

Chicagos showpiece shines with whimsical public art. Where to start amid the mod designs? Perhaps Pritzker Pavilion, Frank Gehrys swooping silver band shell. Jaume Plensas Crown Fountain, with its human gargoyles. Anish Kapoors silvery sculpture Cloud Gate (aka the Bean). O maybe someplace away from the crowds, like the veiled Lurie Garden, abloom with prairie flowers.

Millennium Park is a public park located in the Loop community area of Chicago in Illinois operated by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and managed by MB Real Estate. The park was intended to celebrate the third millennium and is a prominent civic center near the citys Lake Michigan shoreline that covers a 24.5-acre (99,000 m2) section of northwestern Grant Park. The area was previously occupied by parkland, Illinois Centrals rail yards, and parking lots. The park, which is bounded by Michigan Avenue, Randolph Street, Columbus Drive and East Monroe Drive, features a variety of public art. As of 2009, Millennium Park trailed only Navy Pier as a Chicago tourist attraction and by 2017 it had become the number one tourist attraction in the Midwestern United States. In 2015, the park became the location of the citys annual Christmas tree lighting.Planning of the park began in October 1997. Construction began in October 1998, and Millennium Park was opened in a ceremony on July 16, 2004, four years behind schedule. The three-day opening celebrations were attended by some 300,000 people and included an inaugural concert by the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus. The park has received awards for its accessibility and green design.Millennium Park has free admission, and features the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Cloud Gate, the Crown Fountain, the Lurie Garden, and various other attractions. The park is connected by the BP Pedestrian Bridge and the Nichols Bridgeway to other parts of Grant Park. Because the park sits atop a parking garage and the commuter rail Millennium Station, it is considered the worlds largest rooftop garden. Some observers consider Millennium Park the citys most important project since the Worlds Columbian Exposition of 1893.It far exceeded its originally proposed budget of $150 million. The final cost of $475 million was borne by Chicago taxpayers and private donors. The city paid $270 million; private donors paid the rest, and assumed roughly half of the financial responsibility for the cost overruns. The construction delays and cost overruns were attributed to poor planning, many design changes, and cronyism. Many critics have praised the completed park.In 2017, Millennium Park was the top tourist destination in Chicago and the Midwest, and placed among the top ten in the United States with 25 million annual visitors.
